Great video. I think what you are looking to learn is called: welting or cording. I have watched videos on making your own welting for upholstery. I also wonder if you would not need to use the backing glue when you are doing pillows. I do rug hooking (by hand) and the loop pile keeps everything in without using a backing. Just an idea.

You’re a legend and the reason I wanted to start tufting. My family got me the duo for my birthday by accident. I had asked for the cut pile. Happy accident, however, I am having trouble with the lowest pile? Have you worked much with the low pile on cut or loop? My scissors don’t fully cut the yarn on cut and I can’t get the settings perfected for loop either. If you end up making a video on tips and tricks for the duo that would be super clutch.

Hey AJ they use an upholstery piping trim for that edge you’re looking for.

You could get a piped edge by using a couching stitch. I would personally grab some of that felted pencil roving yarn and couch it directly over the whip stitches you've already done. Should look amazing.

I think they use tubing for that look. I also think it would work with what you did, maybe they also have diff thickness in tubing. :)

I was just about to make my first tufted pillow and a new AJ video on the subject pops up : what a blessing ! I was wondering, is there a reason you cleaned up the letters after it was sewn and filled, and not before ? Bisou xoxo

How cool! And no reason in particular. I think you could do either before or after :)

Hi there, I’ve been watching your videos to help me get started on tufting and it’s been super helpful, thank you for that. I wanted to ask if you have materials for sale on amazon? I saw your rugs and even a sc of you working in a video on the sellers post, and wasn’t sure if someone was using you to sell their product. I have a screenshot of the post but not sure where to post it

I’m struggling when it comes to maneuvering side to side and diagonally.. do you have any tips? I have all the recommended products including the fabric and it’s pulled tight. I’m willing to try anything lol

What are you using now that you’re not using the Roberts? I’ve made one rug I used some stuff from lowes called Mapei, it okay but I also don’t know. I really liked the rug you made with the net backing that was so nice.
Edit: sorry I see you made a video on it so I’ll watch that thank you 😊

Is that an embroidery thread you’re using to hand stitch the two sides of the pillow together?
