Revelation 21:22 KJVS And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. I do think this verse points to a end point which has not yet been reached. 1 Corinthians 15:25-28 KJVS For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. [26] The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. [27] For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him. [28] And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. John 17:23 KJVS I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
I have come to the same idea that Jesus is the "third"(i think 4th or last) temple. That all believers are living stones. 1 Peter 2:5. My question is about the numbering of the temples. Is the second temple the temple built by Herod or the one built after the return from exile? A follow up question would be' why are either temple not counted?
The second temple would be the one build after the return from Babylonian exile. Although Herod's 1st c. BC/AD renovation of that temple was basically a rebuilding, we do not ordinarily call it a "third temple." I am not sure why that numerical terminology was never adopted in the Scriptures.
Okay, so you compare Ezekiel with the book of Revelation? What about the words of Jesus and Paul? Chad, can you explain 2 Thessalonians 2? So the man of lawlessness will set himself up inside “us” proclaiming to be God? If the 3rd temple is not physical then neither is the man of lawlessness. And I get it if you spiritualize everything about the book of Revelation assuming that most everything in the book has already been fulfilled, but the plain meaning of the text says otherwise to those who read the New Testament without the influence of an alternative interpretation or teachers.
I find your point to be interesting and deserves an explanation. The verse you asked about is verses 3-4 although it would be good to look at more of the chapter. this is my insufficient attempt to give explanation: 23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. New American Standard Bible, 1995 Edition: Paragraph Version (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Mt 24:23-24. If, as I believe we the elect can be deceived; the man of lawlessness will stand amidst and will be seated in authority over the the church and many will follow him. In this way the man of lawlessness would be seated in the temple. 2 Thessalonians 2 verse 7 -12 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. New American Standard Bible, 1995 Edition: Paragraph Version (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), 2 Th 2:7-12. Again this is my inadequate attempt at an explanation.
Amen!
Yes and Amen❤🙏🏽!!!
