    Yep- I got a Fraser Fur Christmas 🎄 tree up and decorated. Shaving gear requests to Santa 🎅🏻 is a Supply Razor in the matte finish, the matching stand and a travel case (bourbon color). I try to wrap, any gifts I ordered for my wife, as soon as I receive them in order to avoid her snooping. 😬
    Alex (fellow Texan) hooked you up with some quality Stirling products. Stirling folks must be working around the clock to keep up with their orders. I need to try some soon.

    Today's shave was an even more joyous session than I expected. I figured you'd use the Stirling set, but had no idea the HomeLike, and Zorrik Super Stainless were on tap too! I really enjoy my Seillean. I have #19 for reference. The 1.18 gap was much smoother than the R41; as my memory recalled. I must have that razor! I still want the birch handled Rocca, and a Blackland Blackbird too. But after watching the unreal performance by the Russian razor, it has taken precedence on my wish list. I just wish they accepted PayPal. I hope Shona liked Sharp Dressed Man. I'm sure Riley did. Albeit late, I'm glad to have made you birthday pleasant, and memorable. It gives me a real feeling of appreciation. I look forward to 2020, and exactly how the wet shaving world will change with the new founded prevalence; bolstered by Gillette's Heritage experiment. Thank you so much for featuring the items I sent. I can't tell you what humbling it makes me feel. Please enjoy it all, and often, mate!

      How did you ever manage to get that aftershave and edt through customs?! Can you teach a few European shaving vendors how to do it for me?! I'd like the Homelike myself since that .90 blade gap is almost a setting 5 on the Progress. Check this review: www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/homelikeshaving-ctapt-razor.574826/post-10434188

I ordered their Executive Man (inspired by Creed Aventus) and Orange Chill. I also decided to get the matching post shave balms at the same time. Looking forward to trying them out 😀👍🏼

    Rockwell 6S is a great razor. It was, it is still one of my 'desert island razors'. But, when I started using this Russian razor (complete) kit, like yourself, I was blown. This Russian razor has an advantage over the Rockwell, the head of the Russian razor is much less bulky to be able to easily shave right under the nostrils. Not that easy, I think, to get there with the Rockwell. I think this Russian razor is *at least* equal to the Canadian Kristopher Bradley. (Dare say it..perhaps even slightly above it.) Thanks for uploading!

    Good evening Kevy! I like the butter...yet I was hoping for Sticky Toffee pudding or Christmas cake. Stirling makes great soap. Easy to lather and very slick. I like the handle on the Homelike razor...it does look like it provides a decent grip. I continue to be amazed by the lathers you build. That razor has a fair amount of audio feedback and it has a satisfying sound. I have come to believe my collection of shaving gear is going to outlive me...too much of everything. 30 plus years supply of razor blades. Check. 18 plus years supply of shaving soaps and creams. Check. 13 plus years supply of aftershaves and balm. Check. How much more do I need? At this point, I can shave for free for the rest of my life. lol. Great looking shave, Kevy. Take care.

    • @Warren.I
      @Warren.I 5 років тому +2

      Kevy didn't shave with the 0.63 mm Masamune but with the 0.90mm (Masamune) Nodachi. (The names are confusing.) To do a full spectrum Tatara/START comparison, he'd have to acquire and pit a Masamune against his 0.69mm START, their mildest plate. I wouldn't assume the outcome. I've been shaving exclusively with the Masamune for 3 months now and get BBS every time. I've very nearly eliminated nicks. I know because I'm on a blood thinner that turns every false move into a patch of crimson. My Masamune shaves are much like Kevy's (and Cris's from Another Cut Above) with the Nodachi, except that as a daily shaver it's more like mowing a putting green. I've been telling friends, family, and fellow wet shavers that to get a closer shave I'd have to wax my face or use Nair; I can't see throwing in a START 0.69mm as a third possible upgrade. The Masamune boasts a negative 0.13mm blade exposure, which is what I believe does the most to eliminate nicks. (The rest is from the razor's lock-tight construction, which includes a handle that screws into the base plate. The START doesn't have this feature. Nor does the Nodachi: some Masamune customers demanded handle interchangeability from Tatara, so they dropped the feature.) Now if the START 0.63mm has a blade exposure in the Masamune's range, it could be a worthy rival to the Masamune. But maybe not otherwise. Don't worry about the Russians, however. If the START proved to be worse than the Masamune, they could just tweet my president that the 0.69mm plates were made in Ukraine. The rumor would circle the globe faster than you can say "Tatara Masamune Nodachi." :-)

    • @ArchonSG1
      @ArchonSG1 5 років тому +2

      As an owner of a Masamune, and yes, I am in blood thinners too, I do get where you are coming from.
      I am actually using my Masamune with the Nodachi Top cap (addendum, edited due to brain fart ) to bring the blade exposure back to a true neutral exposure geometry. So, as they say, YMMV, as with all things shaving.
      It is at the moment, the smoothest Razor I own. Love it. And yeah, I forgot that Kevy used the Nodachi.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  5 років тому +2

      I have the Masamune base plate which I bought to use on the Nodachi and it is fantastic. The 0.69 plate on the Start is very very mild. For me, it's almost too smooth to get a close shave with my wiry stubble. Cheers. Kevy 👍

    • @ArchonSG1
      @ArchonSG1 5 років тому +2

      @@kevyshaves4109 Hey Kevy! I was thinking of doing similar, Pairing the Nodachi base plate along with the Masamune Top cap for a very slightly negative blade exposure (neg 0.07mm if memory serves me right) along with that 0.96mm gap.
      It is always interesting to see how a razor plays out. 😁
      But yes, the Nodachi Top cap and Masamune base plate pairing is fanfrackingtastic!

    Hi Kevy, thanks for your sharing! I like your videos, but which plate do you prefer, 0.9 or 1.18?

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  5 років тому +1

      The 0.9 0late could easily be used as a daily driver, it's that smooth. That would be the one I would get if I could only have one plate. Kevy 👍

    Would you say then Kevy that for smoothness and efficiency the Homelike Start is for you tops in the stainless field, which includes Rockwell 6S, Karve and the Tatara?

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  5 років тому +1

      Yes, for smoothness and efficiency, the Start razor beats the others hands down for me. Kevy 👍

      But see my colloquy with Steven Lim below. I would reserve judgment as to the mild end of the spectrum, where the Tatara Masamune would be compared to the mild START base plate.

    You doubled up on the witch hazel as it's in the aftershave and the balm. With the aloe in the aftershave, you really don't need all those extra oils that the balm has. I rarely use a balm if I use an aftershave but in this case, at least you're not diluting the scent of the aftershave as the balm adds more to the scent. I'd hold off on the balm until I was ready to go out in cold weather or I would have just used the balm.

      Please elaborate, what makes it terrible? I would very much like to hear why you think it's bad. Am thinking of getting it so a more detailed explanation would give a better idea of what makes a razor bad / good. Sometimes it's engineering, if so what about the razor makes it bad. Sometimes it's because of a combination of razor and blade, ...
