I laughed when I saw the title, and this video did not disappoint! I think my favorite part are the eyes, which capture the essence of the Goya painting AND of the Mario world
Mario Paint was a very important part of my childhood and I think I wouldn't grow to be an artist if not for it! Since I didn't know how to save my artwork on it at the time, I usually deleted everything after making it, I guess it teached me about letting it go. I'm very pleased with your approach! Thank you so much for this video ♥
Still have my super nintendo and my copy of Mairo paint. As someone who spent hours playing with this game as a kid, I can't imagine how hard it was to do this.
Oh my gosh that guide has to be a treasure. Thank you for making this video and talking about the music and animation aspects of the game. Loved how your study turned out.
Can you not erase that one pixel or do you have to start all over. I played Mario Paint back then but didn't have the mouse. I mostly remember the music and fly mini game. Cat's creation came out amazing!
This video gave me an appreciation for dithered color patterns. It looks so good! I can imagine this piece fading in as a boss intro for some hypothetical (somewhat cursed) NES or SNES game.
I'm super happy to've come across this video! Your presentation really nice and fundamental and engaging. I love your calm presence very much and you did an incredible job with the study. Love ya and keep up the great work!
aaa Mario Paint. so much fun, until i pressed save and, as a child, had to look at that effin save-robot for hours and hours. there was no hdmi out in 1992 😭. brilliant choice of artwork and end result too
Kinda reminds me of when I messed around with SpiderMan movie maker or something like that where you can make your own janky cartoons. Usually became a spray painted bloodbath
This inspires me to both do more pixel art and to start wearing my glasses crooked, that’s clearly the secret here on how to achieve such magnificence with 30 year old software without having your brain melt out from your ears. Seriously though I’m gonna practice more art, I legitimately loved this and I’m mostly commenting to help with the algorithm for you because you deserve it. I’m not gonna do art today though my eyes hurt already from too much Clip Studio Paint screen time and I left my sketchbook at home. Don’t tell my parents but I almost miss being told it’s time to put the screens away, now I gotta have them for work and now people WANT me on them all the time. Anyways I hope this long winded slightly off topic comment helps. I’m gonna check your other content out now on my phone screen. 🤟
i played this when i was…i’d say, 5 or 6 years old? and it kills me because i didn’t even know there was a music making component. i basically just scribbled nonsense, got bored, and then went to that fly swatting game. i’m totally kicking myself. the painting you did was amazing, by the way. the kid pix one, too. this old ass software has certainly unlocked some memories for me. god i’m old 😢
This is literally so cool one of my favorite studies was making satan devouring his son but it was my fursona devouring my fursona! It got me into digital painting and rendering and I'm grateful that I did it
I used to make a lot of art using the original Colors for the DS, so I thought about making a video on it, but am worried it isn't enough of a challenge!
Bro, not related to your art but you Americans (and westerners in ge really) need to stop being entitled, you are not in a position to order other people around like they’re inferior to you and are supposed to operate on command that they are not entitled or permitted by you (who put you in that position?) to share their broad range of opinions they may generate from an art YOU DECIDED TO SHARE ONLINE. You are not ready to share content online if you feeling vulnerable is only going to not happen by verbal request, UNLESS you believe your verbal decree is like that of royalty (Aka entitlement). Trans people have existed for centuries outside of the west relatively uninhibited outside of the Christian social environments so it’s not an excuse. Also gotta cover this angle: Stop sharing content if you’re just gonna use it as a weapon to vent your lack of acceptance later on so you can blame it on some other phenomena, maybe you should move to a country where trans are 100% accepted so you realize the problem may be with you, and not with “feeling vulnerable” you don’t plan to improve. Because it’s easier asking the world outside of you to adjust (“aka please don’t tell me…”) than for you yourself to change
Omg this comment is so unhinged, I am living for the complete lack of understanding the self-deprecating humour. This feels like incredibly complex satire that I'm barely grasping. Its so powerful. Thank u 💖
im really impressed by how well you captured the vibe in a program as simple as mario paint! your effort is not lost to me 😊

I had Mario Paint as a kid. Spent so many hours with it. Good game.

"pretty okay" it's amazing 🤩

thank you!! I appreciate this comment :)
this turned out so good tho, the dithering details were a lot of work but damn it made it look hella cool
Incredible shapes going on in the hair
Mario Paint was SO formative to me as a kid! I'm glad you've finally gotten to use it more!
This turned out amazing!!! Pls make more!!! I can also feel you dying inside as you make mistakes on that dither pattern... I'm glad you pulled thru!!

It's good! You're right about the negative space, it really sells it. And the dither patterns are actually very pleasing.
the one pixel paint brush with the stamp tool is inspired. Looks amazing. Reminds me of some mindblowing etch-a-sketch art I've seen
It’s one of my favorite paintings and your recreation is amazing!
It looks fantastic! Reminds me of my old youthful days of drawing and coloring dragons in MS Paint for hours.
THIS IS SO COOL
This was a lot of fun. Would love to see more. Maybe try one in Kid Pix?
I think Kid Pix might be my next exploration!
I was literally just about to comment this too
That looks wonderful. Of course, the possibilities and thus the result are limited. But that just makes it all the more impressive.
I love your "kid friendly" options lol amazing. It looks hella good
Honestly, that's great. 16-Bit glory with a bit of 8-Bit energy.

horrifying, truly a nightmare to behold.
A perfect 10/10
pixel art is very vibes based in my opinion as someone who had been doing it for like 2 years
Cat this is amazing! 😍
I think the final work looks amazing considering the limitations! I especially love the way you used blacks

This is insane, creating dithering patterns to blend colours together. Insane, and looks incredible.
Mind-blowing result
I love this in both concept and execution.
This is literally so cool one of my favorite studies was making satan devouring his son but it was my fursona devouring my fursona! It got me into digital painting and rendering and I'm grateful that I did it
I had forgotten how much I loved this game!
Wow I think you nailed it!

CAT.
Honestly this is wonderful! I think this reminds me of old adventure games
this is awesome! i'd love to see you do more recreations like this on different software, like colors 3D or tux paint
I used to make a lot of art using the original Colors for the DS, so I thought about making a video on it, but am worried it isn't enough of a challenge!

Sir, this is a video about mario paint
@@CatherineGraffam seriously did this person comment on the wrong video? 😭😭😭 their comment is so unprompted and confusing
@@CatherineGraffam anyways love the art 👍
