Downtown looks nice, but it also looks devoid of anything interesting. The city looks much flatter than Little Rock, but no one is biking or strolling around, some of the areas look dicey or run down. I don't mind the run down part, it's the South, but why would anyone live there? Didn't see any art galleries or coffee houses.
It's call Dogtown because people use to go there and drop their abandon dogs there and leave them. You have to try walkers if you like good hot soul food.
I went to northeast HS near McCain mall. Left North little rock and went into the military in the Early 70s. Came back twice and that was 2 times too many. I was invited back for the high school reunion but told them if I showed up I would probably go to jail because the first sob that called me a JAP chink gook slant or whatever I would probably cripple. I remember getting called those names by Good Old Coach Burns, other teachers, and the asst principal. I remember the coach getting the black kids to call me names because he thought it was funny because I couldn't say the n-word back because I'd get jumped by at least 15 or 20. Being the only half Hawaiian there I got to really experience the racism and bigotry that is Arkansas. Had only a few friends I could trust and some decent acquaintances. Almost all my relatives were the same kinda people. I remember getting asked to leave more than one so called church cuz I had long hair. They didn't want people like me in the building where the like-minded hypocrites gathered. Hope things have gotten better but from what I've seen about the city it doesn't look like it.
My family and I recently moved from Florida. Your videos have really helped me on learning about Little Rock. Also, big help on where to go. 👍
