That line: “She ends up with Farkle…” If the series didn’t get cancelled, I have a feeling that line could have been a foreshadowing from the writers, and Riley could actually have ended up woth Farkle in the finale. Ever since the start, Lucas and Riley had such a surface level chemistry. Initially you’d think there was a lot of sparks because Lucas is gorgeous. He’s a “distraction”. If you get that reference, that will make so much sense to you. Farkle and Riley’s connection is a lot deeper and has a lot of parallels to how Topanga and Cory was when they were younger, which could have also been used by the writers as a plot device.

He started looking different after the episode “Girl Meets Yearbook” when Riley tries to go all dark and goth and Farkle starts dressing differently and telling everyone to call him “Donnie Barnes, regular guy!” After that episode, he dropped the Donnie Barnes persona and returned to being Farkle, but he kept the clothes and even told Lucas that he was never going to go back to how he was before because they were growing up and people change.
Farkle understands what it's like to step back for his friends in a way the others don't, so he's doing this for her so she doesn't have to go through what he did. Even if his approach wasn't great his intentions were

He's the first to leave class when riley is given the task of knowing whether people are naturally good or bad, he goes to texas without telling her, he flirts with smackle on GM's She Don't Like Me. And the writers always cut their cute scenes, there are at least 6 scenes from season 2-3 that are cut. And the fact that Rowan Blanchard is more comfortable with Corey Fogelmanis than Peyton Meyer makes Rucas have less physical contact than the other couples
