The peak of GTE Pro's popularity with manufacturers was such a cool thing to witness and I'll keep coming back to footage of those battles for many years to come... but I am SO glad the premier category is in much better health these days. WEC in 2024 is what I dreamed it'd be back in 2019 ❤
It is just that the WEC wants more close racing that's why they ditch the expensive lmp1 car for teams that can't afford the cost of running an endurance racing team
This was the first WEC race I watched, GTE Pro was amazing and I love the livery that the AF Corse 488 GTEs in the class were running. I'm glad to see a lot of the same drivers and manufacturers that were in GTE Pro in Hypercar now.
That is the best example why we need BoP. LMGTE has BoP and they have the main focus. On the other hand LMP1 doesn't and despite it's the top category, nobody cares.
bad hot take but i think Le Mans is just too overhyped racing gets boring after a few hours in and the circuit is not that great as well just straights and chicanes. But people still watch the Monaco GP for being a classic so... Yeah
Well it's the most important endurance race in the world, it draws huge crowds, has a massive entry, all of the top manufacturers, teams and drivers ard there. I don't really see how it is overhyped to be honest.
