I just saw this for the first time. At first, I thought a vr camera was in the craft and we were actually looking at images from Pluto. It gave me goosebumps. I realized later that this wasn’t the case, it was an artist’s rendition. Still, it was an amazing experience. I hope to see more vr videos of the solar system.
You said this 4 years ago and I just watched this for the first time. And I echo these thoughts... this is one of the greatest videos ever published on UA-cam.
This choir gave me goooossebumpsss. I'm very glad they chose this music because it captures the terror of the unknown. It makes me feel that much grateful to live here.
Wow- the first video I've seen and heard that feels toward the mystic soul of Pluto. Astrologers have had their own ideas about it for years but this piece fuses the mysticism with real images and it's mesmerizing stuff.
I can't believe I'm saying this but thank you yes thank you to the New York Times and staff that worked on this video it's incredible incredible blows my mind that's amazing I've watched it dozens and dozens of times it's the best VR video and there is not even a close second one
Very awe inspiring even with a cheap plastic cardboard based VR headset. This is addictive! I wanted to try the VR experience out first before spending some cash on a nice headset but I see that it's time to move up to something more hi tech soon, thanks for the video...
Charon and Pluto orbit each other so Charon a Planet. Bring Cerces back to Plant status it once had and make those three with rest of the larger planets the inner planets. Any other round objects that do not at least orbit inside of Neptune at some point the outer planets. Problem of huge number of round small planets being found in future past Neptune which is reason Pluto got demoted solved.
+Steffan Kirsch The music was written and recorded specifically for this video, with four opera singers standing around a tetrahedral microphone. Sorry but it’s not available for download anywhere else yet.
This is *THE* single best vr documentary experience that I have ever had.Where are more like this in 3d? I can't find them anywhere :( Please make more space documentaries in 3d 360.................please.
+Asatru55 Good question. It's not 360 footage from the flyby; it's a rendered animation made from images and data that were recorded by New Horizons last year. Thanks for watching.
Also, you just need 6 cameras pointed in all directions, and software can still stitch it together 9 years later. So, I assume they did some combination of that per the NYT comment below..
When you are on the surface which has a stupendous sight there is something or someone is sitting there it is bent on the top and looks like it has two legs
I dont use VR, a normal PC but normally 360° videos work on YT for me, but like for the last 3 days or sth like that it doesnt work for me anymore, any tips?
Am i the only one that got annoyed by the fact there was wind noise around the 4:30 mark? i get that its for immersion... but that actually broke it for me all things considered
anyone else watched it in a vr box and if yes did u face a problem of the video turning itself automatically ie. without us moving our head? and if yes how do we solve this problem??
The sound is very immersive. And the voice of the narrator is really cool. I loved it.

It's the sound track from 2001 space oddesy
So awesome to experience. Great work guys! Would love to see more planets in VR and see it from surface.
This is a very nicely done 360 video, keep up the great work
Pluto is still a mysterious planet to me.
AWESOME! Why anyone would ever dislike this amazing work of art and science completely eludes me...
@@hithere.7445 Art is always "fake"... Or do you mean actual Pluto is fake? :D
Born to late to explore the world, born to early to explore the universe.
This is probably the most depressimg sentence ive ever heard
Good thing is it's all lies.
Exploring the universe is impossible
@@HM-jl8pr kinda yeah
Just the right time to explore the void.
Phenomenal. Easily the most engrossing, immersive VR experience on UA-cam so far imho.
Bravo NYTIMES ...I love their VR, one of the best VR experience for general videos...make more VR videos
This is sooooooo cool!!!!!
I love this video and more than 360º, this work surprised me!
Beautiful and amazing. Excellent narration and I like the music.
this is really amazing. fantastic work.
This is pretty cool, but honestly, I prefer the vr t-rex chase by VRTUIS. Way more action. And cooler 3d
I am guessing this is not going to be seen negatively by the scientists involved in this remarkable trip...LOL
Buy Playstation VR, best VR headset for the price.

Absolutely amazing, fantastic job!
Thanks for the cameraman for traveling 9 years to pluto to film this
I need to watch this through my VR headset :) finally on Pluto. The travel alone took nine years.

The soundtrack is very cool. "2001 a space odyssey"-esque. Anyone know how to download it? I've searched "Graham Roberts - Pluto Chorale" to no avail.

Thanks, good to know, I am interested too. Where did you get this info?
I worked on this project.
Oooh :O Amazing ! Do you know if it will be possible to buy it somewhere on itunes or amazon?

Amazing video very cool is beautiful !!
Wow Pluto is very different than I expected it to be
BRILLIANT
Scorpio ruling planed, dark mysterious and scary but also beautiful. 🌌♏
Very cool. And yet, some things never change. Sounds like a Theremin - same as the old SciFi movies and Twilight Zone TV show.

Could someone tell me what does it mean "viking terror" at 3:39?
couldn't be better
How is this even possible. It said the sattelite was launched 9 years ago. how are the cameras equipped to do 360 footage?
+Asatru55 Good question. It's not 360 footage from the flyby; it's a rendered animation made from images and data that were recorded by New Horizons last year. Thanks for watching.

It's like time is standing still when you're on the surface. Looking at Charon which is locked in place...

Have you tried turning your computer on?
Jokes aside, reinstall Chrome or whatever browser you use.
It's because it's outdated. 360 never worked on my iPhone 4

On PC also works WSAD
When I saw Pluto it scared me
o my god it is so cool is like VR
Everytime I see a planet (VR or at the Planetarium) I feel like I can't breath. Is it just me?
Am i the only one that got annoyed by the fact there was wind noise around the 4:30 mark? i get that its for immersion... but that actually broke it for me all things considered
Why is it double screen?
pause at 2:08 and look to left and there's a face on the planet
Woo i finally landed on pulto o.o
If I drag forward or backward I see pictures, if I play all black screen
This video is not working. It always show black screen. Why?
Forgive my ignorance but... ¿how do you see this videos?
you either watch it on a phone by moving the phone around or use a virtual reality headset
anyone else watched it in a vr box and if yes did u face a problem of the video turning itself automatically ie. without us moving our head? and if yes how do we solve this problem??
its kinda annoying when in cardboard view there is an arrow in the top left and the white line down the middle of screen
does anyone know how to get the Vr to work
in can only move it if I move my fingers
I think u need an iPhone
I can't see anything, and I'm trying to switch to 2D mode but it's not working.
woooow 4k :D
