Outstanding presentation. Minor correction on questions to calculate TBSA Upper limbs (9%+9%) Lower limbs (18%+18%) Thank you for the effort and teaching
Thanks you sir, Parkland formula is 4ml× body kg x TBSA or can we use 2 or 3 instead of 4. Correction: Silver Nitrate has weaker activity against gram positive bacteria nor gram - ones for pseudomanas is gram negative one
Hello there.. According to the latest ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) 10th edition 2018, resuscitation formula for second and third-degree thermal burns in the first 24 hours is given by the following equation: Total percentage body surface area burned × weight (kg) × 2 = volume (mL). Half this volume is given in the first 8 hours and the second half is given in the subsequent 16 hours. Silver nitrate works better against pseudomonas but not against other gram negative bacteria.
What if the patient came late ,may be after 8hrs of burns and he or she has serious burn which involves upper and limbs. Will you still use parkland rules or the is another approach that can be use to help the patient.
sir, in last mcq, shouldnt we count thighs and legs of both the limbs separately as 9% to make it 18% for one lower limb and 18% for the other lower limb? im confused plis help
Whats the use of parkland formula in children if its decided that for initial 10 kgs we have to give 100 ml for next 10 kgs 50 ml aand after that 20ml for each kg ?
The parkland formula is for the fluid lost. The 4,2,1 rule (or 100, 50, 20 rule) is for the maintenance fluid that you have to give in addition to the fluid calculated by Parkland formula
Outstanding presentation. Minor correction on questions to calculate TBSA
Upper limbs (9%+9%)
Lower limbs (18%+18%)
Thank you for the effort and teaching
That's because sir has divided lower limbs into thing and leg so it becomes 9 each the whole limb is 18
Very good Doc! Thanks for the session . It was a great learning experience. Looking forward for more videos 👍👍

sir i have a doubt .. isn't parkland formula 4xtbsa%xbody weight ? why did you use 2xtbsa%xbody weight here?
It has been updated.. Acc. to ATLS 2018 guidelines, formula for 2nd & 3rd degree burns is 2 * tbsa burnt * body wt.
@@medicalconcepts1996 where is it written in Q that it is 2nd or 3rd degree burn ?
Isnt 2ml/kg for every percentage of TBSA Modified brooke formula not Parkland?
Sir parkland formula mea 4x body weight per kilogram x TBSA in % ha tho kon sa thik ha
