I was just in Strasbourg last month! I took a train from Frankfurt to there. The city is absolutely gorgeous with an interesting combination of German and French cultures. Definitely worth a visit.

Alejandro Palacios ja, Elsass hatte von 1870 bis 1919 Teil von Deutschland gewesen, nachdem letztere Frankreich im Deutsch-Französischen Krieg besiegt hatte.

Why would that one girl say that Europa-Park belonged to Alsace? The park is clearly German. Very close to the border, but still in Germany. All signs in the park are in German first and then in French. I don‘t know how you can miss that.

I know that Freiburg on the German side of the border is a common place to learn German and , of course, Basel in Switzerland. In Strasbourg It would be rather French. If you are into studying Germanic dialects, there is a lot to discover. For standard German there are better references to practice it in the streets. You may have a hard time understanding the local dialects.

Having said which, the guy in the dark glasses seemed to have a bit of an accent. Was that Alsatian? I could also understand most of what the Italian girl was saying, which was gratifying as I don't really think of myself as an Italian speaker.

Belynus oui, je suis d'accord. On perçoit ce mix en regardant les maisons à colombages (héritage allemande) et en goûtant les vins alsaciens d'une saveur unique (typiquement français). Mais ça m'agace quand les gens insistent sur le fait que l'Alsace appartient à l'Allemagne, quand cela n'est plus le cas depuis 1919 et qu'elle n'a fait partie de l'Allemagne que de 1870 à 1919. Voilà :)
