Great review interesting to know you can drop pieces of the pro in the tree. In regards to the swivel problem consider a twin bridge, swivel on one, ring on the other. Dmm axis swivel is a great piece of kit can clip biners on both swivel eyes simultaneously. The twin bridge is a handy setup too especially for traversing. Or when suspended from twin systems.
Excellent, honest review! You about covered it all! I'm definitely considering adding this to my kit. Just about all other reviews seem positive. I like how you also cover what you are not a fan of. Thanks for your time! I never buy expensive, important gear without as much research as I can get.
Tried it yesterday. That device is wild. It is straight butter up and down and you can drop right back into it and it’ll catch. Nice it can remain 100% attached via carabiner and remains whole during removal and attachment. Have a rope wrench that’s fitting the bill right now but def will pick one up if I come up on some funny money down the line.
"Reach around to work the bird" heh Just ordered a RRP to try out. Thak you for this video and all of the other fantastic content you have up. I've learned loads from watching your videos.
I have an adjustable bridge on my MB with a CMI California swivel V2. A swivel on it would be nice, keep it lower. But I like it. Don't use my Zz+ any more lol
Thanks for sharing. Any future changes in your opinion of this device is appreciated. Video ideas, just keep sharing. Lots to learn for those just starting out. Thank you.
Instead of the ring, have you considered a 90 degree offset carabiner (Kong makes a few different ones), or another option would be something like the DMM Director Swivel carabiner (or Rock Exotica, Rope Logic, ISC, or US Rigging as they all seem to make swivel carabiners)? These would be required to stay permanently affixed to your bridge (like your ring), but having a swivel carabiner on your bridge doesn't seem like the worst thing to have. It would definitely help shorten things up a bit. Thanks for all the great vids!! :) p.s. I could swear I left a comment earlier today, but I don't see it - sorry if I created a duplicate comment
Hey dude! Im looking at getting this device after giving it some time with professional climbers over the last year or two. Im also looking at the notch fusion Rope wrench....any thoughts on either of the two for a main climbing device? Im looking for something that can be moved from srt to drt and functions well for doing tree work! Thanks man!
I’m sure I’ll put a swivel on at some point, it just makes the whole system even longer and the nuisance of a long system is almost as annoying as not having a swivel 😂
Where did u get your hoody in the video being comfortable in the tree is also a key point to being able to move around freely - what trousers are u wearing for best movement when climbing
It’s realy nice to see your video heat in french Canada. I realy like when you show us equipment. May you show us the best harnest between petzel sequio Camp and treefilbiguer (sorry i dont know how write it)
Great video, you just got a new subscriber & I can't wait for more videos to come! Also love my RR Pro I haven't used a standard prusik setup since I received it. Ill be excited to see just how bad it is when its wet though so I better keep fresh on my prusiks from time to time. 🤣
How does it compare to the Akimbo specifically on limb walks. My Akimbo can completely let go sometimes while going out on a skinny limb. Hopefully the design of the rope runner will have constant tension. Thoughts?
honestly I've set the adjustment pin right in the middle and I have found its worked for everything except my newest smallest diameter climb rope. if I was using that one frequently (I don't particularly like it) I would adjust it as small as it would go.
Oh interesting I thought that the rope runner was a SRS only device. Is there anything worth noting while climbing MRS with it? I've been trying to decide what mechanical system to buy and was learning towards the zigzag due to thinking it were the only mechanical device capable of running single and double rope systems.
Yeah man, the akimbo, Unicender, Roperunner and zigzag all work for both methods, but the zigzag is such a nice device. The most consistent performing and easy to use device in my opinion. If someone is only going to have One device I think the zigzag is the way to go.
Hey man, this might seem like an odd question but who makes those shirt/hoddies that you are wearing? I am trying to get new company shirts and I like the way those look. lol Only problem is I cant seem to find anything that resembles those.
Truewerk is the brand and the shirts are pricy but I absolutely LOVE them I’ve never found anything I like more. I wear them all year long all the time
got mine yesterday. was surprised about the bird's slick pin rotating in my hand. assume you've adjusted grip to deal with this. what hand position are you using on longer descents?
My brother has a digital production business, and he handles all of it. He’s done a killer job! @edify&co if you know anyone who’s growing their business and needs help with graphics or production I’d be happy to put you in touch.
I wish I was just as lucky. yesterday my first experience with rope runner pro was disastrous with the bluemoon rope. today almost the same happened with the Teuferburger xstatic. if I adjusted the friction to 2 I had difficulty going up freely. if I adjusted the friction to 3 it would be fine on the friction tests, but when it came down to the point where I released the bird there was no stop. I was kept going down in free fall. can you say anything about it?
I would guess that ropes that flatten under pressure start out fine but would start to slip after a couple belays. Xstatic seems to work well but as you’ve found, very fine adjustments make a dramatic difference in function especially with new ropes, less so with ropes that are well broken in and have more friction.
It would help if the cameraman could keep the camera focused, most irritating. Great review, really appreciate that you covered a range of concerns, points of interest. Thanks
Yeah, keeping a consistent manual focus is tough on those DSLR Cameras, maybe with enough support someday we'll be able to afford some better camera kit too!
I hope to at some point, it’s a good bit more involved of a process to film those days. Perhaps as the channel grows and i can afford some more help! ;)
For some reason I can't get it to work well for me is eather too tight that is hart to decend or its too loose it don't want to stop on me I want to like but getting frustrated whit it
I've got a video comparing the old version. In function it will be similar but improved in all the ways I mentioned here. The Akimbo hasn't changed and still maintains its primary downfalls. ua-cam.com/video/RB1rKUy-7V0/v-deo.html
Show us your setup for DRT with the rope runner pro
Can anyone tell me where there is a tutorial of drt on the rope runner ?

I agree with Nels really would like to see a vid of drt before I would buy awesome vid and great info thank you can't wait to see more

I love your content but I really struggled hearing you through the background music.
Great review! If your only complaint is that it doesnt swivel, upgrade your saddle bridge with a Rock exotica swivel rolling pulley.

@@Stridertrees Good point, especially when rope walking where you have to reach so high.

I find that using a notch quick link in place of the biner bring the device closer.
I would love to see it in drt. Also maybe a video of how you’re setting up the adjustment for different ropes.

but I usually have it not Teufelberger Drenaline, exstatic, and Samson Voyager, and mercury.
It works great in DRT but you have to add a little sauce to it. I made a video on it, check it out man.
CaptainHook TreeClimbing I’ll have to check that out and see what you mean !

There's another video that explains how to use the RRP for MRS:

Thank you for your review! Since you are using Edelrid equipment from time to time, have you ever tried the RopeRunnerPro on the woodpecker rope?
Another great video! Thx for sharing. Great review and you speak very intelligently keep it up!
Just wondering. Cause I switch back and forth on a giving climb.
Great video 👌.
Annoying it has no swivel .
What about the Akimbo vs the R.R.Pro ?
Coming soon! but if you're curious now I compared the akimbo to the previous RR and the Akimbo is going to have the same downsides.
Can you show how you use the RRP double rope. Thank you

Can you post a link to your suspenders? I like the padding.
How strong is the attachment point? It looks pretty small
As a beginner I would like to see you climb with it. Thank you!
Idk about trusting some metal piece vs a blakes or a distel hitch with my life bro.

Isn't this your akimbo vs rope runner video from 10 months ago? (Minus the akimbo bits)
PS we go all the way down to 7 mm on our rope diameters. For the z runner
Akimbo solves all those problems. Love mine and i own rope runner and unicender

Mine does the same. I feel safer on a throw line and a 3 wrap Blake hitch
I would like to know the right rope for that piece of equipment please help
It’ll work well on most any 11-12 ish mm double braid rope. blue moon, ivy, voyager, velocity, xtatic, drenaline, and many more

Awesome bit of kit.
What’s your DRT setup like??
most excellent review !
Bagaimana boleh mendapatkannya. Berapa harga perset
Okay thank you
are you still using the pro mate?
also do you eleastic on your modified backpack strap chest harness?
You did a great review brother Kevin did a great job also but this definitely proved that my device is definitely the best on the market
Why don’t ya send me one of yours and I’ll run it for a while and see for myself ! ;)

I like the AKIMBO But it doesn’t perform well on limb walks. I think this would be better for limb walks. Opinions?
perfecto is the small one
Just buy a Grigri 2, hand ascender and homemade footloops
So sad it's so expensive, 2 times a Zigzag Petzl ... :/
The rope runner pro would be better if it where made in the USA and not Taiwan
Would be watchable if not filmed with a shakeycam
Has anyone else had to constantly hear how Notch uses Chinese metal so that negates all the advancements and improvements they’ve made.
Yes they do and still charge an inflated price, I can tell you I won’t put my life on it
Greg S meanwhile the vehicle you’re driving every day is made of the same quality metal.
