I remember when he passed it made headlines all the way in Massachusetts, and my father showed me in the newspaper. I remember being sad all day at school when and no one got why.
My great grandfather and major winters were good friends every Saturday morning they would get breakfast around Hershey/Lancaster area. My great grandfather was a SGT. in the marines. I was lucky enough to go along with them one morning and Major winters was a very kind man loved children and didn’t like attention from people who recognized him from the show. He was a true hero my grandfather attended this as my great grandfather had died two years earlier and Major Winters attended his funeral. Also side note yes that is Tom Hanks.
I so wished to be at that service and thank you so much for now making it possible my utmost respect to all concerned and thank you for letting us all understand a little bit more about the freedoms we take far to often for granted god bless everyone mg
R.I.P. thank you from ❤,for your Service . Thanks for All !!!❤
I am 90 years old so was quite young during the 2nd World War. But I had 2 brothers-in-law who served in this war. One in Europe and the other in the Pacific. Heroes to me. One received a Silver Star but never would talk about it. I would love to hear what it was that made them outstanding Americans, husbands and fathers. God Bless.
As much as Dick Winters was a legendary man, the woman at the memorial service singing 'He's got the whole world, in his hands' is absolutely hilarious xD

I recently visited Mr. Winters's grave, to pay his respect.
I felt compelled to pay respects to his surrounding family graves as well.
🕊️❤️
Major Winters was the real thing, a life well lived, many thanks for recording and posting this.
Recognise some of Major Winter's comrades from the 506th...Buck Compton, Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron...now all sadly gone.

Our country was blessed to have men like Mr. Winters and his comrades when we needed them so urgently. They are why we are free today.
