- Experience breaking the world steam speed record run in this animated film which takes the audience on a journey on Mallard's footplate and then through the steam engine itself.
Shown here in 2D, although a 3D version is also available.
When I took a ride on the simulator at The National Railway Museum in York the ride was more exciting than I expected.
Dalek44 I know! It was great!
Dalek44 I have done that at the national railway museum too!
Dalek44 same here
me too. one of the best museums i ever seen in my life.
I’ll need to go ride that.
tbh, the journey thru the pipes and stuff, really show how good the animator is.
it gave me some old school Fast and Furious vibes
Ikr, how much did this cost to make?
It's shows where the steam goes which is cool
They’re called flues NOT “PIpEs”
@@BMMEC6000 alright man, just because I watched a single train video doesn't mean I know everything about trains now.
Joe knew that mallard could've gone faster, and I've always wondered what the record would be if one of the streamlined LMS duchesses got a go on that track, the east coast was always known as the race track. Great video
+Tring's Trains Productions There's a stretch of track in the US that goes for about sixty something miles. I'd like to see Duchess of Hamilton or Mallard, or even even Tornado doing top speed on that line
that would show them a real 140mph run
But risky given Mallard had being found with a Hot box as well
@@kennellokclevel or inclined?
And another reckoned had they not been slowed down by track maintenance at some point, Mallard would of exceeded 130
I just realized the music is supposed to mimic the sound of a 3-cylinder steam engine (like Mallard was).
Mind. Blown.
Really? Wow!
"Like Mallard was"? Mallard's still around. It's part of the national collection in York.
Huh, I've always wondered why the music and the puffing were in sync... Super cool!
why did i always think that mallard was 4 cylynder
@@justahillbilly7777 i think he means when it was in service
The animation was sooo good! Traveling through the boiler, the piping, the valves. Come on that was just epic.
What a magnificent tribute to history.
Makes you proud.
I get emotional whenever I watch this. Nothing will ever be as legendary as the mallard and the A4s.
Big Boys are
@@TheOklahomaHotrail apples and oranges
Kudos to the animation team
What makes this speed test more legendary, is that it took place before 4th of july 1938
This is fantastic. The mallard shall never be forgotten. The Americans have the T1, sure that's awesome, but nothing shall ever be as legendary as the mallard and the A4s.
watching this just made me smile as it is really realistic and you can just imagine what they were feeling on that wonderful day !!
The sound is truly the best part of this, the music, the sound of the engine and the bursts from her chime whistle it’s amazing
6 years later and this is still a classic for me.
When I see mallard I'm like "my precious" I ish so proud of u!!! Every time I got to the National Railway Museum I'm like "right, MALLARD WHERE ARE U?" XD
what?
@@cozmolikeytrainz I’d say the same thing, I’m so confused about what they meant
Same
Beautiful work on this video! I loved steam locos especially ones like Mallard! I always will love the locos, even the diesel ones I suppose.
Absolutley magnificent animation I for one am amazed!
wow this looks SO REAL
ohai xdd
im not. im just saying it looked very realistic.
It's from the National Rail Museum experience in York.
Hi dog that is the greatest
I Know Right.
i saw this a few years ago at the nrm still takes my breath away
Imagine being on this train, I’d LOVE it
This is amazing
Thomas T'n'P Productions I actually saw the 3D simulation of this in the national railway museum in York
Oh Thomas t’n’p productions mallard is the best
I read all the comments and this seems to be the best one on this video.
@@dutydruidfilms11 this is aswome
Matthew Forman-Clark same it’s sooo fun
Made in 2014 and its animation is still so good! It aged so well, though I wonder how it would look if it was remade.
they were jolly lucky. jumping the tracks was a real issue. i remember reading that had they made over 127 mph they would have!
Well actually an American steam locomotive Pennsylvania Railroad Atlantic number 7002 had already taken the record of 127.1 miles per hour in 1905
@@dylangranger9129 claimed record like the city of truro
2:45 made me emotional
The untold part of this story is that, when mallard broke herself, geuss what engine towed her away
A C1 atlantic
This is a beautiful animation great job :)
This felt VERY realistic. Giving you the feeling of being apart of, and with it.
I like how the music goes with the chuff rate of the locomotive.
It’s actually a mimic of mallards 3 cylinder chuffing noise
The cgi makes it look like a video game 🎮 I wish they can make an Xbox or play station game about Mallard! 😊
That animation got me in a shock so amazing I like the wistle tunes or editing to the detail in the model of the locomotive and the experience of being inside of the boiler was amazing!
This reminds me of the time I went and I’m glad someone made it.
Amazing I loved the audio
Holy SHIT this is beautiful
USER_AA-12 Its evev better in person at the NRM.
Your right it truly is
Language
I saw this at the NRM. Been looking for this!
While I love and admire Flying Scotsman, City of Truro, Mallard, and even the #55 Terrior, Stepney, I do still have a soft spot for a T1, a J3, and a Class 4000 Type E.
This is the Mallard simulator at York NRM.
The graphics are amazing!
Haha I was just at the National Rail Museum today and did the experience with the ride. It was great. Especially when you know that Mallard is outside, but retired and staionary, but here it is in its hayday, at full speed. Stunning.
holy shit this looks amazing
you realize you are on the internet right?
Its even better in person!!
Thomas Wang It was great doing it at the NRM.
Ziggy Craft yeah I have done it at york
Language
Great animation and what a magnificent locomotive.
What is the music you used? Please tell me because it sounds amazing. And on the Pennsylvania T1 record breaking idea, I could go either way. On one hand, whether or not it does break the record, it will show that people still care about steam locomotives, and Mallard would be famous for being the fastest steam locomotive in Britain. On the other hand, the locomotive will be pushed to its limits and will cost millions just to build. They are building a PRR T1 to preserve the class.
Chris Shackelford but the t1 would only set the preserved steam speed record currently held when i wrote this comment. is 60163 tornado reachung 101.6mph on april 12 2017
The T1 can fuck itself, it can't go over 110.
NeilTheBoxTankEngine true it could "shake 'erself apart"
It certainly would
dude, a mallet class will mever go as fast as 126mph
3:25 OFF(uuhhh) THE RAILS
I think he said: these old pal, you know what this is coming up. But at this speed we should come off the rails.
Went on this today. Loved it so much. The animators Definitely had fun with this one 😂
Amazing locomotive ,Fabulous 3D Animation ❤
its amazing how they had animated the innerworksings of the Mallard locomotive in the beginning fo the vid
I'm going on this when I visit the NRM in June.
David Moyle I visited recently. I almost cried of joy.
You can't go on it anymore as it was withdrawn from service in 1963 and has been at the NRM since
@@reecesrcs they're on about the simulator you can see them in this video i'll send the link ua-cam.com/video/6hyPQi66AM4/v-deo.html
@@columnedfox5508 no that’s no longer there
@@reecesrcs probably only there for the great gathering then...
The music is amazing, and the whistle sent shivers down my boiler. Also I agree, if it was just the dynamometer car, she would had went faster.
Ahhh... I remember watching this when I was a kid, its much better than I remember.
0:46 looks like a painting.
You did a fantastic job, great work.
This always makes me feel like i was in the moment helping the crew reach the limit
great video! good animation! this is amazing!
A-fucking-mazing, iconic steam locomotive, again it's so hard to get her up to this speed in Train Simulator.
Oh, and there is 666 likes.
Best animation have ever seen this animator has to have a shoutout on every train vids
This was made very well!!!
brilliant a small insight into the life of steam
I saw a mistake that I thought wasn't true, when in the cabin it looked like the Mallard was on the right tracks but the whole time it's on the left track.
Nostalgia hits you like fuck, I used to go to NRM York all the time.
3:14 were off the scale we done it
That looks Amazing!
WHOOOOO!!!!! Way to fly, Mallard! Way to fly! HAHAHAAAA!!!!
Actually that was the "Flying" Scottsman. :-P
@@aJunctionMalfunctionProduction how do you know that?
Amazing video
mallard and the flying scotsman are the best
The “Bend” at Essendine is tiny, a couple of degrees. They didn’t slow for the bend but for a speed restriction.
I have only watched this an inifinite amount of times
Camera was a bit too much woobly for me, but great work indeed!
Awesome! Big Like...Have a nice weekend!
Gresley thought the A4 could go beyond 130. There was another run planned for September 1939 but….
I saw this in national railway museum in york
hey
ur the guy who got a shout out from fanofthomas31 or elijah spears
Awesome, gave me chills XD
Come back, it's been 5 years since you last uploaded a video
And now its exactly 77 years later
Brilent video of a lovely steam train 😊
I will take my comment back. Mallard you’re the best! Also I would rather smell coal burning than the clag smoke of the diesels.
@AVMetropolis why arent you answering my question?!
Well done mallard
This is at the National Railway Museum
Mallard is the fastest steam engine and no one will brake her record
No one maybe except Union Pacific 844.
+Von Millard Manalastas WILL YOU SHUT UP THat train could never do that ANYONE WITH COMMON SNENSE WOULD NOT DO THAT
MALLARD BARLEY MANGED TO SURVIVE HER RECORD!!!
Her left valve gear was about to snap off, so it would involve having her getting a flat traction tire, by braking son hard a steam gauges would go.... a bit to high for safety.
All Those years later, they Still have not repaired her!
expensive and hard to maintain since Mallard is in LNER condition with side skirts but i agree Mallard deserves to be overhauled but think about it Bittern is in Garter Blue so i thought it’s good enough tho
I remember seeing this at the National Railway Museum
The music sounds just like the cylinders which is crazy because have you ever heard a steam loco and tried to make music out of the cylinders.
I realy like that Dynamometer Coach.
What is this music? It’s nice! Very upbeat and Speedy! Just like ol’ mallard
Other people: wow this is cool
Me: sparks coming out of the funnel oh heck na
That does happen normally caused by the blast from the blast pipe causing a stronger suction through the boiler tubes which draws cold air through the ash pan which helps the coal burn hotter often enough that's how cinders were often ejected as sparks
Amazingly edited man!
I wonder if we can get the unofficial record of the S one from the Pennsylvania railroad because that be really cool
Fun Fact: *This Is Spencer In Thomas And Friends*
accept spencer is borrowing the same paint as silver link silver fox silver king or silver jubilee it's hard to tell because all are in the same colour
Just amazing
great animation👍👍👋👋👑👑
this engine holds multiple 1sts the 1st a4 to have a double chimmney with kyilchap exhausts from new the 1st a4 to handle the ace i could be here all day
If I had the DELOREAN,I would go to World War Two and watch the LMS.
Florida Railfanning 812 this isn't even lms...
Its LNER.
THIS IS AWESOME
I saw this when I went to the NRM in 2016
I saw this at the NRM and the mallard broke the record of speed on a steam locomotive because of the extra wheel on the first coach
That was good I could cry
Wonder if a film like this would be made by the T1 trust if they ended up going 130mph...
What's the music called?
Should I feel guilty or bad for missing the Mallard A4 anniversary events in 2013 and 2014 because of a lot of family and job commitments, my graduation in Southampton and a art exhibition in London and I live too far away from York and Durham? I do not visit York every year! I had to build up money and visited Montreal Canada to see 4489 Dominion and visited Green Bay via Chicago in the USA to see 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower. I never saw them in 13 and 14!
@0:56
My mom: "drive safe!"
Me: "I will!"
Also me:
I do believe in any emergency situation like a true emergency that they would probably just throw it in reverse
Can you make a video with just the music playing?
Well you can try to find the music online but he didn't make the video
