Bangladesh Quota Protest: 6 killed, Universities closed for an Indefinite period, BGB Deployed
Schools and universities across Bangladesh have been shut until further notice after six people were killed in protests over quotas in government jobs.
University students have been holding rallies for several days against the system of providing reservations in public sector jobs for the children of war heroes, who fought for the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971.
Some jobs are also reserved for women, ethnic minorities and the disabled. The system was suspended in 2018 after similar protests, but the High Court last month ordered the government to reinstate the 30% quota for war veterans' families. This triggered the latest wave of demonstrations, with protesters arguing the quota unfairly prioritizes one group over others. The violence first erupted on July 15 at Dhaka University, between protesters and members of the student wing of the ruling Awami League party, the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in parts of Bangladesh. The elite security forces are deployed to bring the law-and-order situation under control as quota reform protesters and Chhatra League men clashed across the country.

ma'am I'm a student of a Bangladeshi university, there is a misinformation about our protest. so here is the story, At the time of the war, the country's population was about seven and a half crore, according to official estimates, freedom fighters were 0.245%. And assuming that Razakar was the maximum 1%, (officially the number is even less), here it is assumed that our consciousness about the liberation war is decreasing, the matter is not actually true, we also want the quota to be there but it is a realistic amount. Again, our Prime Minister said, "If the family of the freedom fighter does not get the job, will the family of the Razakar get it?" There are only freedom fighters and razaka in the country? Who does he think of the rest of the common people as Razakars? One of the slogans of the agitators is "Kota Na Medha, Medha Medha" She said again, "The children of the freedom fighters are not brilliant but the Razakars are brilliant?" The real problem is her binary answer, is the country only freedom fighters and Razakars? In contrast, the students chanted "Who are you, Razakar Razakar, who said who said, tyranny tyranny." We respect the freedom fighters from our hearts, but her provocative speech has damaged the freedom fighters' honor. The quota for 1st and 2nd class jobs in the country is 56% and the number is larger for 3rd and 4th class jobs. 96% quota in primary teacher recruitment is not discrimination?
Worst than India, our supreme court passed bill that limit maximum reservation quota to 50%, still sometimes it go beyond in some states.

हम (बांग्लादेशी) छात्र फिलहाल कोटा के खिलाफ शांतिपूर्वक प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं, लेकिन सरकार के एक संगठन स्टूडेंट लीग ने हम पर घात लगाकर हमला कर दिया। हमले में लगभग दो सौ लोग घायल हुए और कई लोग मारे गये। इस समय हमें आपकी बहुत जरूरत है क्योंकि हमारे देश के पत्रकार सरकार के पक्ष में हैं। उन्हें इस मामले की कोई खबर नहीं है. वे इस मुद्दे पर प्रचार नहीं कर रहे हैं। आजादी की मांग करना अब अपराध बन गया है

The problem is Students were protesting peacefully but it was the statement given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that speared hatred. The way she provoked the protestors as “Razakar er Bacca” (She indirectly said everyone other than Freedom Fighters are Razakar) was unexpectable. Another thing is BCL attacks on the protestors with arms, sticks etc. That's the problem.

And show me an upper caste who does menial job today? Do you think it's fair ? he just took a seat of his own poor ST brother.
