I feel both haunted and loved by these lyrics. I hope everyone appreciates John as the generational talent he is.
His lyrics always find me at just the right phase of my life. This one really hits home
It’s been great to see him grow as a person and artist since Room for Squares came out when I was in high school. Long live JM!

Thank you for sharing this clip with the lyrics! John Mayer has pretty much written his life in song and it's so beautiful. I cannot imagine having to grow up in the public eye as he has done. Who among us would want the world to watch us grow up? I'm seriously glad there were no cell phones when I was in my twenties. We all make mistakes growing up but don't have the added pressure of doing it while the whole world is watching. Mayer has grown into a man of integrity and honor with his talent intact.
What an amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist he is! He shares these deeply personal emotions/thoughts with us, and I know it helps so many deal with their own anxiety. If nothing else, it makes one feel not quite so alone. He is a gift to us all! And I do hope that he finds his soul mate one day. He deserves to have that kind of love in his life. (I'm 63 years old and I feel very motherly toward him!) 🙂

This feels like the continuation of an old song he has called tracing. It has the same feeling of moving through life with everything feeling intangible and distant.

heard this live in Chicago yesterday. such a powerful song that encapsulates a lot of emotions. it's really clear that when he was writing this, he was really lonely in some way - whether that's lonely, or longing for something, or both, I'm not sure. I can't wait for this to be released. it's a beautiful song.

This album is gonna blow minds. He’s worked through it all. I’m the same age as him or very close to it so I understand exactly how he’s feeling with his overall idea of life. Get ready people.
I'm maybe late to the party for this song, but damn, how good is this? the lyrics are pure perfection, even if this one is probably one of his most about himself, everybody can relate, I certainly see myself in some of the lyrics, I always loved his music but I felt that the last two albums were on the play safe for him, maybe because nowadays is hard being an artist and not get cancelled by fanatics but that's a long story to explain, but this, gosh, if the new album has lyrics like this It's gonna be a masterpiece, I really hope he has find the light to relove again writing perfect lyrics and making music.

No matter which concert you go to there's always a woman talking to her friend during every song.
Seriously, what is she talking about why is it over the whole song. Some of my favourite songs are recorded from the Hotel Cafe sessions in LA. There is just continuous talking from this one lady. I would love it someone could remove that part of the audio.

Happened to me in Denver. The whole damn show the 2 women behind me wouldn’t shut up. It was SO distracting.
Not to sound like an old fogie, but people used to be polite to each other and to the performers. I feel bad that these talkers are clueless to how rude they are being. It shows a terrible lack of respect, or education.
seriously, we had to shut a couple of them up at the Boston show.....imagine talking while John Mayer is playing, how shallow......

Saw him last night in Sacramento. This song was so powerful and I think I was most blown away by Edge of Desire. He created such a powerful moment of feeling and inspiration with two hands, an acoustic guitar and his voice...and an incredible light display. Only thing that would've made it better is if people shut their holes and listened.
