The KOIAI lineup could not get better even with any choice in the world. Love them and all their songs! Which is damn rare for me. Love everything they have done so far! Can’t wait for the third EP! And ofc, Wishing Mayu a full and fast recovery! Please take care of that phenomenal singing voice! Your song Life blows me into the sky every time I hear it. To me personally, that even beats your screaming cuz it’s kinda a mix of both. Get well soon!
It was a matter of time for Mayu to have problems with her voice. Her singing voice is great but the growling is a problem. It sounds like she has to tighten her neck muscles which in turn compresses the vocal cords. Let’s hope Mayu works with a good vocal coach as part of her recovery.
Mi querida Mayu pronto estará totalmente recuperada, una cantante polivalente muy prometedora,la más prometedora para mí! Saludos Nemophila. Os amo a todas.❤
Wow, Venus, very busy month for me personally and also on the J-music scene! Huge stuff with Mayu-sannn 😢 but I think she'll be alright, I know I'll wait however long she needs to make a full recovery! NEMOPHILAAAAA!!!!❤❤❤❤ AND , hugee release from Koiaiiiii! Yesss , so soo good!! And I got notifications on the others but had no time to check them yet... 😭 thankyou for this video because now I have a reference to check what is missed!! Yay VG!!!😊🏆
Hagane's new lineup is awesome, but Koiai has the lineup with the most talent and potential. They will be the most impressive band in the entire world if they can DROP THE POP and focus on their prog metal potential. "A New Picture" is by far what their fans want to hear. Koiai is a race car. If you bring a Maserati to the race track and drive it around at walking speed, people will lose interest. You have a race car, DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT AND THE POLICE ARE IN HOT PURSUIT and push yourselves to the limit of your potential. You're a supergroup, damn it! Play like one. 😠
“A New Picture is by far what their fans want” We just want their ability to be on display more in general. For example, ‘Come See Me’ (their latest music video) is a combination of good instrumental and songwriting ability (together), easily making it my #1, while I have ‘A New Picture’ at #2. But it isn’t easy to categorize what ‘Come See Me’ actually is. What I mean, is has jazz elements, fast/shredding at parts, pop, and maybe rock? I don’t even know what to call it. Whatever it is, it’s damn good.
@SomethingToDo360 You're making my point. Koiai doesn't know what it is, and neither do we. Because they haven't picked a direction. They're like a heart in atrial fibrillation. There's a lot of movement, but it's not pumping any blood. Prog metal/rock will allow them to explore all of the elements you mentioned within the framework of a genre so that it makes sense. The Canadian prog geniuses Rush already showed how to do it. Koiai can do it, too. They have way too much potential to wind up being just another technically brilliant but boring pop band.
@@MegaHogzilla “You're making my point.” Your point seemed to be that they should focus on a type of metal because of their talent and potential, but my point is that their talent and potential is now being displayed on ‘Come See Me’ without having to fall under a type of ‘metal’ label. Although ‘Come See Me’ does still have a pop element to it (among other things), it comes with more of a display of talent than much of their older songs. To me that is moving in the right direction; display of talent rather than category. Also, ‘Come See Me’ will appear on their upcoming EP, and so is more likely an idea of general direction. I think we tend to want to put everything into neat boxes with labels on them, but maybe such a limitation could itself limit their potential as well. Anyway, most reactors struggle with labeling ‘Come See Me’, with the majority calling it some mix of jazz with pop and some shredding displays, or something like that anyway. Well, I know ‘progressive pop’ is labeled as requiring a pop component while being sophisticated (like high musicianship on display) in a way mainstream music is not.
@SomethingToDo360 They could be like Primus and have such a unique sound that it sets them apart. But they haven't shown that as of yet. Steve Vai, Allan Holsworth, and Frank Gambale are great musicians, but aside from other guitar players, nobody really listens to their music. I haven't been wowed since Looking Up To You with Rina, until they did A New Picture. We'll see where they go, I guess.
@@MegaHogzilla “I haven't been wowed since Looking Up To You with Rina” It makes more sense now. You liking a singer-focus with guitars would actually make Koiai less appealing (Kotono not likely being your singer-preference here), and would require something very drastic (like a shift to metal as something else within your preferences), and so perhaps ‘A New Picture’ accommodated the loss of Rina (a more likely singer-preference). But even with ‘A New Picture’, you still used the phrase “their fans” (didn’t include yourself) when referring to fans of Koiai. To understand me better: I like the current lineup of Koiai way more than Li-sa-X’s old band (my favorite member of Koiai is Kanade Sato), as it’s more about a full member band, and mostly about the instrumentals in general. For example, Lovebites is my #1 favorite band (for now), but it’s definitely not because of Asami, who I actually view as the weaker point of the band. It probably tells you something about my area of interest, when two bands I like the most have singers as weaker points of the band itself. Songwriting is important to me as well (Lovebites needs to improve their songwriting BTW), and although I like the writing for ‘A New Picture’, it is definitely NOT anywhere near as good as ‘Come See Me’. I’m weighing factors like that as well, to give you a better idea of how I view things here. “unique sound” For clarification, I wasn’t saying their sound is unique. Just hard to label.
I know this is an unpopular opinion but my least favorite part of Nemophila's music is the screaming and Mayu's singing voice is just too beautiful that I hope she doesn't destroy it in pursuit of screaming.
From the first time I heard Dissension, I knew Mayu was going to have vocal issues at some point in her career. I can't say that I'm a fan of her vocals but I do wish her a speedy and healthy recovery.
Lots of great music last month, especially Koiai. Best wishes to Mayu.
Thanks, enjoy the update. There were thing I missed, new bands to check out. And of I definitely wish Mayu a speedy recovery.
Sometimes it's hard to find these bands, I need suggestions😢

Mayu does not need to do the horrible and now terrible growl vocals. May she rest and heal.
