Dbz kakarot has a slight edge but it makes sense, dbfz can’t do long dramatic cutscenes because it’s a super fast paced fighting game while kakarot is a single player game.

There's something about the animation of DBFZ that makes it so special and unique. Almost as if it was animated in 2d.
it's animated in a lower framerate i think and it uses a lot of squash and stretch. this makes the animations look more like regular 2d animation

2 completely different games, FighterZ animations look amazing especially since they have too be fast since its a fighting game, then you have Kakarots that are amazingly detailed and dramatic! Both amazing games that should be equally appreciated
@Eyesore yeah i don't get it why too many people think FZ is 2D, it isn't.
It's just really interesting to see how a fighting game and an action RPG handle things differently. DBZK has this more etherial style to it's Ki animations and takes more time to fully show the spectacle of it all while DBFZ is shows how fast paced these fights really were, but with animations and effects that are over the top to compensate for the lack of time to build up on it... I just think it's neat

I love both of these games so much! Kakarot was what I always wanted from Xenoverse from a graphical standpoint, and FighterZ scratches that competitive fighting game itch with a faithful stylistic Dragon Ball aesthetic. Finally DBZ games that look like the anime!

Honestly I really like Kakarot's design, it's very clearly influenced by FighterZ with it's heavier use of the dramatic angles that the show / manga uses, but it's also it's own thing in a lot of ways
Fun fact about kakarot...when you use any variation of the spirit bomb in any super Sayian form goku reverts to base then when he throws it you turns ssj again to push it but when you are kaiokent he will stay kaioken the entire time ..that small detail is my favorite in the game

The limitation of fighterz being a fighting game and thus needing to rush the scene or fit the scene, as opposed to Kakarot being an rpg that is pretty much made to be spectacle, does put it at a disadvantage. that being said there were quite a few examples where fighterz still did it better.

You can feel the intensity from DBFZ the exaggerated everything and it looks great even character models are portrayed spot on I wish DBZK had more like wise characters , animations , destructions and more story too

7:37- SS Goku's expression after defeating Frieza with his angry Kamehameha is still a powerful moment. It was the first time he'd ever won a fight in such a manner, and it didn't feel good at all.
He didn't want to win that way. However desperate he was in a fight, Goku usually NEVER struck a foe when they were already down and couldn't defend themselves effectively. It wasn't in his nature.
He was always taught to win honorably whenever he could (This is NOT to say he was against having help, only that he was typically a sporting fighter), to make every battle as fair as possible.
This was for his own benefit as much as his opponents', to push himself and improve. It's why he let Frieza power up to 100% (apart from avenging Krillin), so he'd have "no regrets as a warrior."
If he'd wanted to attack Frieza first, he could've tried more than once. It's the same reason he gave Cell a senzu before he fought Gohan, even though that was logically the most foolish thing to do.
It's what he condemned Vegeta for doing against the Ginyu Force, first killing Recoome & Burter when they couldn't move and then Jeice just because he could. It's naive, sure, but still admirable imo
.
That's just who Goku is fundamentally, but Frieza forced him to break from that nature. Goku had already proven he was stronger and gave Frieza multiple chances to live to fight another day.
But his pride & hatred blinded him, and Goku had little choice but to retaliate despite knowing the outcome. It was an empty victory and, from one pov, a betrayal to his own pride as a martial artist.

@@user-hk6ns2eg1w I would agree, except that Goku spared Frieza on Namek anyway. He knew that Kamehameha hadn't killed him and sensed his life-force barely hanging on.
Yet, he deliberately left Frieza alive to head for his damaged ship instead. Now, whether Goku believed Frieza couldn't possibly survive at that point, I can't say. We weren't in his head.
It's definitely plausible that Goku figured Frieza was close enough to death that he'd never escape Namek's explosion in his current condition. He'd used up the energy Goku gave him.
One could also argue that this was him giving Frieza one last chance he didn't deserve, hoping against all common sense that he'd never recover enough to be a threat to anyone again.
Maybe it was a choice made in fear of regret or guilt from ending the fight that way? Maybe Goku's saiyan pride, in that moment, drove him to spare this enemy despite knowing the risk.
Or, perhaps he thought letting Frieza live as a beaten cripple would finally teach him some humility (He didn't yet know about King Cold or the Frieza Force's cybernetics resources)?
In any case, Goku admitted this to Future Trunks: "I want to thank you for defeating Frieza and his men. I was too soft on him... I should've finished him on Namek."
Trunks described his own more convoluted theory: "You were meant to defeat him, but for some reason there was a time discrepancy, and you couldn't. So I had to intervene."

I think FighterZ looks better overall, but Kakarot comes on top in other visual aspects too.

As much as fighterz makes the game more anime like base but it’s missing on how dramatic some attacks or power-ups are, that’s where DBZK comes in like you can’t lie every cutscenes in DBZK is pure Beautiful.

It’s because they wanted fighterz to be a fast paced competitive traditional fighting game, they weren’t aloud to make the scenes super long or crazy unlike in tenkaichi.

FighterZ is an amazing game, the work they put into making a proper fighting game is what the fans deserve. They really did do it justice. I still have dragon ball Z kakarot to play and it does look amazing. The influence of fighter Z has influenced developers to keep a high standard. DBZK is an example of this.

The opposite of true. Most of Kakarot's cutscenes use in-game models and happen in real time. It's only a select few cutscenes that utilize specialized assets.

As another person in this comment section mentioned. Only a very few specific cutscenes are pre rendered. Even if all Kakarot cutscenes were pre rendered it wouldn't really matter as Kakarot still looks far more visually stunning
This'd be awesome if you were comparing the same genre. Like Tenkaichi Budokai to DBFZ, but Kakarot isn't anything like the other Dragon Ball fighting games except for the Xenoverse series

High quality video as always. FighterZ is pure obsessed insanity through and through, in the best ways possible :) The cutscenes by Cyberconnect2 for Kakarot are also insanely good. Love both games, but Fighterz wins the fight for visual and referencal presentation, at least in my head. Can't imagine the visuals of the next true Fighterz sequel, if they are gonna use the technical improvements of the new Guilty Gear game. Oh boy, it probably will be absolutely mind blowing.

@@rat-3452 As I said, I love both games, each for their own reasons. But just going by the visuals, FighterZ is way more consistent overall. But that doesn't mean Kakarot doesn't have its own nice visual features. It's definitely a looker in many ways, but it's not as consistent as FighterZ. No wonder, because Kakarot is way bigger in its scale and they tried to put as much as possible into this single game, but you can see the shortcomings of budget and development time much better in Kakarot than in FighterZ. That being said, I can't wait for a Kakarot sequel where they can polish everything further.

I'd say consistently FZ is better looking, but Kakarot easily goes to bigger heights with some of it's cutscenes, it's not even a comparison. So it's just on tastes at that point, whether you want the game that looks better generally more of the time, or if you prefer far larger heights and lows rather than consistency.

FighterZ is a rapid action fighting game, which makes sense with those short, but really good looking dramatic scenes. Kakarot is a more RPG single-player game, that's why those cutscenes are longer and in some cases even better detailed than FZ. Still, both look amazing in every way

I like the aura effects/animations and cinematic angles of DBZK but i love the art style and color of DBFZ.
I enjoy DBFZ’s art style more but some of the dynamic angles used in DBZK are great. Not great enough for me to buy the game however.

If you like RPG's and dragon ball then kakarot is well worth your money. I spend more time on Fighterz because it's a fighting game and it's obviously never finished but Kakarot has brought me the most striking nostalgia in many years, it's a really beautiful game.
FighterZ is more similar to the Anime, Kakarot makes it look really pretty.

No game is perfect, you can say that it's close to perfection though. The game honestly isn't all that great overall if we're talking about all of the modes, some unfixed bugs, the story, etc. Obviously since it's a fighting game it's gonna have good gameplay but everything else is eh.

Difference in animation styles aside, I think FighterZ looks way better than Kakarot. The models and how they were texture mapped and lit look incredible. It fits the nostalgia lens people have about how the show looked back in the day, transitions between shading levels are sharp and more deliberate (mimicking traditional anime shading), and pulls off the cell shaded look better by foregoing the gradients/soft transitions created by traditional 3D lighting. Also, sometimes the mesh transformations during animations look kinda wonky in Kakarot.

Imo the art style of dbfz is way better than dbzk but that’s just my opinion
Dbz does have a beautiful look to it but I like a lot of the dbzk moves and details (except the whole blue ki instead of gold ki charging up in ssj)

It's really difficult to compar those games, I mean Dbfz is a fast 2.5D fighting game and Dbzk is a 3D RPG game and then it means that dbzk have more time for scenes like this. Because if you play Dbfz you dont want to have a 30 minutes finish, attacks during a fight need to be reactive. (Actually in terme of visual effects, Dbfz is better but Dbzk is very very good too)

I’m surprised no one in the comments are trashing two of the games graphic that’s how you know both of these games are just beautiful
this is a really hard decision on which one is better. they both look amazing, but DBZK has more dramatic type moves while DBFZ has ones based more on gameplay, like the kamehameha. in DBFZ it's just a short quick blast, it's make that way for gameplay reasons. DBZK's kamehameha has a flashier one, focusing more on the dramatic element more than the gameplay one. DBFZ is absolutely beautiful but some moves are quick and less flashy because it's build like an actual fighting game like street fighter, Marvel vs Capcom etc. On the other hand DBZK seems to be built more dramatic or flashy in a way, focusing on camera angles and such like Xenoverse 1-2. from a gameplay standpoint DBFZ wins by a mile but when it comes to looks it's kinda tough. although DBFZ is built for gameplay, the visuals are still pretty amazing.

The only thing I don’t like about these games is how they powerful attack’s don’t leave a destruction on the planet like in tenkachi budaka 3. Now that was the best game in my opinion. They need to remake that game

The cutscenes in Kakarot are godly but I'd say FighterZ looks more consistent in its quality
