    I commend you Garry... it's your passion that will not only bring your history to life once again... but cast it into the future for generations to grasp and understand. Facts, information and accurate positions would otherwise be overlooked and subsequently forgotten. I tip my cap Sir.

    1. Thank you to the land owners for allowing Gary on their property.
    2. Thank you to Gary for the photographic analysis. It is something I have no capacity for doing.
    3. I was extremely impressed with the picture in a picture technology that allowed Gary to self film this video.
    Thank you for this video and showing the 5 plate panorama...I can’t even imagine the effort required getting those shots.

    Fantastic video! A veritable Historic Hat Trick for me! A Once-upon-a-Time commercial photog and revolutionary war history aficionado converted to the Civil War by both children’s attendance of Gettysburg College. A fella who’s planned his retirement to the tidewater area of VA. We have spent many a summers day exploring the land between Williamsburg and Gloucester point. Well done! Well done indeed! Many, many thanks! Keep up the great work for those of us unable to move about - your zeal is infectious!!!
    EDIT: I was so enthused by the video, I completely forgot to wish you and everyone at the Civil War trust and every American history devotee, a very happy and healthy new year!‘. Sláinte Mhath ☘️

      According to Wikipedia, "contraband was a term commonly used in The United States military during the American Civil War to describe a new status for certain escaped slaves or those who affiliated with Union forces. In August 1861, the Union Army (and the United States Congress) would no longer return escaped slaves who went to Union lines and classified them as "contraband of war," or captured enemy property. They used many as laborers to support Union efforts and soon began to pay them wages..."

    • @gillygil8747
      @gillygil8747 3 роки тому +1

      @@ppena4128 That is correct. But, only for slave states that were participating in open rebellion. I was being fecious about contraband. Slight sarcasm. I don't do emogis. At first, Sherman wanted no part of contraband. At least not humans. They were taking resources faster than his bummers could steal them.
