I'm really glad you made this video - I'm reading through the core rules right now and it is a higgledy piggledy mess of a thing, with stuff you need to know all over the place. What I really need is a basic cigarette packet flowchart of how the mechanics work & DAMN that game needs a re-org, a re-write to put it all together logically. Core Rules 6th printing is gorgeous to look at but I so need that clickable, searchable PDF.
Thank you! Symbaroum is one of my favorite games right now. Love the setting and how the mechanics help work within the setting. I love the way you approach exploring games and settings - focusing on a game each month. I also like the way you focus your videos - starting with an overview, delving into character creation, mechanics, and a game session. I may have to steal some of your ideas. I am developing a blog and I've been hoping to open discussions about different games. The Game of the Month idea helps out especially. I found you while looking for The One Ring Strider Mode videos and your approach to different games keeps me watching. Thank you so much!
The roll modification system is a translation of the Recistance Table in BRP by Chaosium. (BRP on a d20, simulating 5% steps on d100) This gives a 50% chance if both the active and passive traits are equal. BRP was the Golden Standard in Swedish RPGs in the 80s, so this is part of that heritage.
Love this game and the setting. The combat can be lethal and magic has consequences. As with all Free League books the production values and art are fantastic. The art giving a real feel for the setting. Cold, misty, muddy Davokar.
Thanks for the overview! I have all the books but have yet to run it. Hoping to bring it to our table soon. I also love player facing rules. It allows me to focus on other things.
Great stuff. Many thanks. I bought the lot and am working my way through the core rules, advanced players' manual, etc. It looks like a fantastic system, and Free League really produce some beautiful books.
I really enjoyed this game. I love how it handles magic, and the roll under is great..it could have used a BIT more English localization for linguistic style. One day I’ll run this!
One of the more popular TTRPGs out there that does player-facing rolls is Numenera and, by extension, the Cypher System. Unlike Symbaroum, it's roll-over. Having GMed Cypher System, it definitely freed me up to focus more on the narrative. Not sure if you've covered Numenera or not (I haven't checked your video log), but if you haven't, you might want to give that a look.
For my streamed playthrough I used Roll20. But I've actually been running some one shots/offline content with Foundry. Which I highly recommend for pf2r. There's a learning curve but since paizos rules are free you have a ton more resources
The algorithm demands I play this game… and I agree!
Symbaroum is amazing glad the algorithm sent you our way!

Thanks Bill, I really appreciate that! I'm glad you like the format, it's really helped me pick up what makes a game tick

100% everything I've picked up from Free League has been very well designed. I'm hyped for their Walking Dead Zombie game

Nice I'll add Cypher to the list!
What tabletop do you use to play Pathfinder 2

@@TeganJGaming I use fantasy grounds. Let me know if you ever got spot open I'm still pretty new to Pathfinder 2 but I want to DM it
