In this video, we compare two similarly priced BenQ projectors: the LW500ST and the TH671ST. Both projector are great budget friendly options for golf simulator setups. We'll walk you through the pros and cons of each so you'll be able to pick the best one that's right for you.
Thanks for comparing these. Good job highlighting the key components. However, I'm surprised you used an iPad instead of PC. E6 on iOS is potato quality. Would've been nice to see modern golf sim graphics on these projectors.
Hey Bryan, thanks for the kind words! You have a good point, but when we recorded this video, we did not have a PC setup available to use. We will keep that in mind for our next comparison!
Thanks. Very helpful comparison
Four questions, do either support a native 1x1 display ratio - I have a 10’x10’ screen. Second which would the 500ST be suitable for a table side mount so it could easily used in another room? Does the 500ST have the ability to save different configurations that could be quickly accessed when moved. The ambient light comparison was quite revealing but for those of us not familiar with the LUX measurement could you say what watt light bulb would produce 16 lux so we have an idea what you call ambient light?
Hello! Just as an FYI, we no longer offer the LW500ST, but here are our answers:
1:1 ratio: I do not believe either have 1:1 built in to the projector, but setting a custom resolution/aspect ratio on a PC is an option. More here: ua-cam.com/video/qfPSQ_KzI_c/v-deo.htmlsi=g7FP0uYR8rC73TPs
Table side mount: Not sure I'm fully understanding the question, but the LW500ST could be used on a table off to the side (to a certain degree) since it has vertical and horizontal keystone.
Configurations: we have not checked into a feature like that, so I'm not sure. Sorry!
Lux measurement: again, not completely sure and we've changed lighting in our showroom since this video, so I cannot go check. However, found this on Google that might be helpful: tinyurl.com/523366w7

@ thanks for taking the time to answer, didn’t realize this video was over a year old when I posted the questions
Thank you! I just an 8*10.5 enclosure from Carl’s Place. Now, I’m looking to buy a projector to hook up to my iPad. I like the Benq TH671ST.
What needs to be done to assure a full screen image, since I will be projecting on a 4:3 screen with a 16:9 projector?
Thank you for your help.

What projector do you have or are you looking at? Many 16:9 projectors have the ability to also project in 4:3. And, depending on the iPad, it might automatically project in 4:3. With our iPad airplaying to an Apple TV connected to an Optoma GT1080HDR, it was a perfect 4:3 fit with our 7.7x10 enclosure in our showroom. But I believe not all iPads are the same! Hope this helps!
How come every time you guys post a video the graphics are horrible compared to other golf videos using the same projectors? Do you guys not have a nice computer to turn graphics up? 😢
How off center can you make the BenQ LW500ST? I'm in the design phase of my build but only have 12 ft width so I'd like to put the projector all way to the right or left of the ceiling. Is that possible?
Great question. That might be pushing it a little bit. However, couple of notes:
-The LW500ST has been discontinued, just an FYI
-Often overlooked, the best spot to mount a projector overhead is right over the tee off spot. Might sound dangerous, but when you think about it, the golf swing doesn't go straight up, so it's really not in any danger there!
How can you compare 1080p to not 1080p it doesn't make sense.
Hi Tomasz! We compared these two projectors based on price point, not specs like resolution.
