What this game needs most for immersion is, instead of a traditional racing game reset, the reset is a giant hand picking you up from where you landed, placing you on the track, and then giving you a shove to start going again.
It's so nice to see a game where they didn't go with absolutely horrible, exploitive monetization model even though it would be really easy to do so. Lootboxes available only for in game currency, never thought I would see something like that, especially from a Hot Wheels game, amazing.
Well all the pieces are there to make it exploitative. you already grind for coins to open the blind boxes. 1 patch to sell the boxes for real money and its instantly a piece of shit.
@@heque3321 Honestly, it would mostly make the publisher or developer evil, but the gameplay wouldn't be worse off and if the grinding isn't made worse it is not too bad. Though with this being a hot wheels game it might have more children fall for these currently non-existent micro-transactions.
It's entirely possible they'll add microtransactions in a later update like what Cras Team Racing did. I'd hold off for a month or two to see what happens as the blind bags are still a red flag to me.
Yup, the intro being there again got me like "Oh boy, this is getting weird again", like no joke, it feels strange that the intro is here. In a newer video.
@@slizer452 again, for simplicity sake, as it's a game... the brake... no one is thinking, "huh, there's no mention of the handbrake, how on earth do I drift this thing, I must only use the handbrake, nothing else will be accurate enough for my enjoyment of this GAME...."
So basically, it's Hot Wheels Stunt Track Racer? Now I want you and LGR to do a colab where you have this running on the Hot Wheels computer at like -1FPS.
The blind bags makes me think they're going to do what Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled did, and add microtransations in a later update in about a month's time to skirt around the reviews. Gonna wait a month in case that happens to play it personally, but other than that this looks like a fantastic game!
I don't think so. I think they are going the same route fighting games go of just making a solid game and then milking it with an insane amount of DLC over the next couple of years.
@@FireFox2000000 Yep haha! Also one final note is that Crash Team Racing Nitro Fuelled had a daily rotating store and so created a fake sense of Fear Of Missing Out to make players rush to get the coins and unlock what was in the store that day as you didn't know when/if it would be back again. But in this the cars are just blind boxes and then everything else is just paid DLC. There's no rush because the content isn't arbitrarily locked behind a timer in a silly storefront.
@Turn Back you assume they coukdbt just suddenly make it way harder to earn coins when they add microtransactions. Make it easy now to get good launch reviews and then make it a horrible grind to get any coins in a month or two when they turn on the microtransactions. As for the season pass argument Most games with microtransactions have season passes as well, they are not exclusive ideas
I heard about this game when me and my siblings were marathoning the Hot Wheels Accelerators Movies. I wanna get this game JUST for the one singular accelerators car in it (Which funnily enough was the RD-02, the second car Dan got!) Actually I'm really happy you used the DR-02 for like, all the video.
I used to love my Hot Wheels as a wee nipper, but as a mid-20's old fart I hadn't had much interest in them save for some of the collaborations with Star Wars and the such. However I have a 3 year old nephew and he adores his little toy cars so much, and it always brings me joy when I get him a new one and he loves it. He even shows them off to his parents saying "Uncle Benji got it for me." Basically thank you Hot Wheels for giving me so many happy memories, and helping make new ones.
Even though I've already completed the game, I'd love to see a Complete Series of this! You do get different cars at the start of the game. I got the Bumper Car, Camaro, and Tomb Up.
FUN FACT: the RD-02 has lore. It comes from the acceleracers line (which you can see under the name) which was a sequel to a line called world racers (both of which have movie series that are surprisingly good) and is the main villains minions cars the "RD" stands for "Racing Drone" and "02" for mk. 2, and we see the RD-01 in world racers

I remember playing Hot Wheels Turbo Racing back on my N64. Such a fun game, glad to see the franchise is still alive and apparently doing quite alright!
I love how the collisions look and I presume feel like toy cars. In a full size car game you'd get body damage, crumples and crashes but it looks like in this, the cars are as solid as actual hotweels meaning you can bash them together that they're fine. To the point where it changes the gameplay
you can also upgrade your car after a bit of racing that might help with the speed you need to make it much easier! oh and if you boosted trought the finish it would have helped too since the speed would give you some seconds too! -Backseat Driver

I think you’re mistaken on the loot boxes. While they are literal loot boxes, they are exclusively an in-game currency item, and are handed out in the story mode. There also won’t be any micro transactions, since all DLC will just be content.
