    Nice tour. When you start working on the flybridge roof, think about using the solar panels themselves as the roof, with a framework to hold them. I've seen it done on other boats and it makes for a clean install.

    Nice boat ! We slept in forward v berth of our Morgan OI 41 for similar ventilation and to hear anchor chain noises and wave action. I had a small magnetic compass with a push button light just above my berth so I could see the boat heading during wind shifts. When wife was on watch during passages I had a small handheld gps up in the v berth so I could monitor progress while napping.

    Thanks for the tour Gus, I love your boat.!!. it looks very comfy to live on.. and really like the separate head and shower in the forward stateroom.... I would want a larger refrigerator tho. and then move the microwave elsewhere... I like the idea of the hardtop over the flybridge and aft deck... Because I would like a enclosed area on the aft deck, kind of like a screened in patio.. to get out of the Sun and keep the bugs out..
    If I could find one like this at a decent price I would get one for myself to live on.. for sure

    Very nice boat. When I was your age I could only dream of something like this. You already reached it ! You did make some very practical solutions to common problems, very nicely done.
    Must warn you for the hard top though. Before you do this check with a boat builder and make the calculation for the CoG, it is going to be a massive impact. I had the same idea with my Defever 49 and the yard that built the boat actually told me that I cannot do it. It would destabilize the boat and since your boat is smaller I would have that checked before you commit. Instead of putting the panels on the Bimini I placed the panels on the side railing and next year I will add a frame on the stern of the boat where I will place another 5 panels of 405 Wp. I know many people go for flexible panels, but they only last for a couple of years, so I decided to go for the normal house panels, which will last about 20 years. Also don't forget that many flexible panels will not produce as much after 1 or 2 years, they degrade pretty fast.
    I wish you a lot of success for the rest of your projects and that floor truly looks amazing. This is where I am going to copy you, since I have to do my floor as well. 😀

    Good morning my friend, I see you’re coming up to North Carolina looking forward to watching your northern Loop trip. As an old sail boater of a 40 foot , cleaning is important to me. Just a tip as to what I do, I use copious amounts of Wesley‘s white wall cleaner. I can let it sit on the teak then use a scrub brush and it comes out very clean. Same for the top deck if I have a stubborn stain I let it sit there for a few minutes then I scrub it off. I have since sold this boat but the person who bought it appreciated the clean teak and decks .
    So go pick yourself up some Wesley’s white wall cleaner I’ve been using this stuff for years even back when we had white walls on our automobiles. Enjoy your trip up north.

    Hi Gus,
    This is my first time looking at your channel. So I might ask questions that you may have already covered. I did not realize a trawler could be so roomy and comfortable. You may have some more changes to make but for an older boat it looks pretty nice to me. I too would want to have the forward cabin. It appears larger and has a bigger mattress. Btw where is the access to the engine room? From what I see it would be an easy task to install central air conditioning. With the new kits you could have a choice to have reverse heat as well. What material is the hull made from? Well I hope to see more of you on here.

We'd like to rent the Quest to see if my wife could stay on a boat for an extended time. If so cruising the east coast or even the Loop may be in the future... Thanks.

  • @johnschieffelin3226

    Thanks for tour. Great layout. What kind of antenna do you use to get TV reception? Do you like using your separated throttle/gear controls or would you prefer modern integrated throttle/gear units? What do you use for a generator? How do you keep the refrigerator working when you're on anchor? Do you have to run a generator for several hours every day? Do you have AIS identification and can you see AIS identification on nearby yachts and ships? What do you use for weather forecasting?
    You have gone far on the Albin and it has served you well. I imagine it would have been much harder to do the voyaging without your advanced mechanical skills.
    Looking forward to more videos, especially the delivery on the Erie Canal.

    • @InTooDeepBro
      @InTooDeepBro  Рік тому

      Thank you for watching! To answer your questions- For TV I have a cheap digital Tv antenna mounted to the back of the TV it works just ok - I mostly use the WIFI hotspot on my phone. I like the separate throttle and gear controls but I suppose I don't have a preference Vs integrated controls. While on anchor the solar setup puts out enough to run everything and to fully charge the batteries during the day. When I want A/C, I can run it off the batteries overnight but In the morning I will run the generator to help the recharge the batteries. My generator is just a pocket inverter generator that I run on the flybridge. I do not transmit AIS. For weather I use several apps on my phone like Windy, accuweather and Noaa.
