Second verse to happy birthday. Happy birthday to you, from old friends and new, may our love go with you , happy birthday to you. Fr Rodge David Kidderminster UK 🇬🇧 ❤ xxx
Helpful information. But what if I'm in a band that has a genre (alternative/post punk) and we do covers and originals? A lot of this information isn't applicable.
couple of tips right back atcha - don't sit down! this is rockanroll, not bach. throw away the music stand - you wouldn't go to a play with actors reading a script, learn the songs!
I agree. I don't like to sit down but I do use an iPad. I agree with you as far as knowing a song by heart. It's good because it frees up energy for spontaneity in your performance which allows you to try things musically as well engaging the crowd more.
Using an iPad, my repertoire is exponentially expanded. It’s a trade off I’m happy to make - especially since I work 60+ hours per week and don’t have all day to memorize every song. I have a great voice and can play songs fluently with the help of an iPad, so that’s what works for me.

Meh…do what works for you and don’t worry about what other people are doing.
I very rarely write out a set list. I prefer to read the room and react accordingly.
