I really love this movie, because when I was a kid and I was getting into DC Superman was my favorite character, and this movie was the first I've ever seen Superman fail, it showed me no one is perfect and just because you have power it doesn't automatically bring happiness, I was 7 the first time I see this

I loved this movie, but also. You're looking at someone who 99.9% rarely feels pain unless kryptonite pops up once in a while. The fact that he received an intense beating and then stab wound is remarkable that he didn't go into extreme shock with that level of introduction to pain.

It seems like your opinion is dictated by what you think is canon. Keep in mind MoS is a take on Clark/Kal if he was placed in our real and political world; a world where it will challenge Clark's character. It's obviously going to be depressing, as well as put a strain on Clark because he's being portrayed as a more realistic human just like you and I. We WILL be depressed; in fact, I would probably give up being Superman myself if I were placed in his shoes. But, imo, that's where Cavill's Superman shines. He still manages to convey the hope of all the Supermen we know THROUGH his willingness to do good; even in the face of hopelessness. Also keep in mind that there are many many different versions of Superman.

I dint like this movie's storyline back then and I still don't. But man Brandon Routh deserved atleast 3 more movies as Superman. He was so young in this one and pulled off the role really well.
This could have been a very very significant moment in Superman history. It shouldn't have just been Lois' family who helps him out of the water, but to bring out the more significant meaning, of now humanity helping Superman in his most trying times. Many people put their lives at stake to jump in to the water and save him. So the final battle could have happened on a destructed Metropolis by the Kryptonite crystals, and Superman being beaten up by Lex (Probably in his more modernized in his iconic mechasuit) and crew. It would have a deeper meaning of how humanity saved superman after all he had done for the world, and they now are giving back the favour. Which gives more meaning to why Superman would put all his effort to his last breath to save humanity from the kryptonite land. (in comics/animated show causes lead poisoning, to humans). Not just everyone staring into the sky as his lifts the kryptonite island. But it is what it is... this was a very underrated Superman Sequel film but with wasted potential and ideas. Also I'm really hoping for a follow up to this film, the Brainiac idea for Superman: Man of Steel (Title stolen by Snyder) could have been really epic, or even for a Kingdom Come series on Routh's recent return in Crisis.
I would have just prefered a more interesting/exciting climax with the island. Instead of just having Superman fly it into space and passing out, I would the island grow much faster to the point where he cant lift it anymore so before it falls back down to the sea he start punching it, smashing away as much excess weight as possible. It is light enough now that he is able to get it a good bit higher but the island regrew and has to smash it some more, however the kryptonite now starts growing faster because he cleared away the layer of rock that held it back. There is no way he makes it to space with kryptonite around him like that so what he does is fly on top of the island and punches the ground, pushing it while flying forward in order for it to tip over on its head. He doesnt have much more time than he would have at the bottom but here the kryptonite isnt peeking through at least. He makes it to space and throws it just as the kryptonite starts rising from the ground (now the bottom) making him pass out.

Batman Begins and Superman Returns should’ve started the DC Cinematic Universe. Warner Brothers made a mistake not combining the two worlds together. Both movies were one year apart from each other. Both movies were fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with fans and critics. Both movies looked and felt like they could’ve been in the same universe. Both movies brought the two most popular superheroes back on the big screen after a long hiatus. Superman Returns referenced Gotham City. Not to mention, it grossed more money at the box office than Batman Begins whose sequels went on to hit the one billion dollar mark. I Am Legend teased a crossover between them for May 2010. The billboard in Times Square had Bale’s Batman logo and Routh’s Superman logo merged together.

The way Richard flew the plane has a lot of parallels to the way Superman flies Lois has a type

Batman Begins and Superman Returns should’ve started the DC Cinematic Universe. Warner Brothers made a mistake not combining the two worlds together.
Both movies were one year apart from each other. Both movies were fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with fans and critics. Both movies looked and felt like they could’ve been in the same universe. Both movies brought the two most popular superheroes back on the big screen after a long hiatus.
Superman Returns referenced Gotham City. Not to mention, it grossed more money at the box office than Batman Begins whose sequels went on to hit the one billion dollar mark.
I Am Legend teased a crossover between them for May 2010. The billboard in Times Square had Bale’s Batman logo and Routh’s Superman logo merged together.
Batman begins was the real world take on Batman, hence no super powers. Ras wasn’t immortal, joker just had make up, and bane had a mask that keep him from feeling pain

Startled Wonder Woman opened her eyes and exclaimed "what in the hell was that?!" The Invisible Man replied " I don't know, but my butthole is killing me!"
