- Several people were hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi on Tuesday. Among them, 53 have died so far while others were undergoing treatment.

Even covid 19 has not claimed so many lives in this rural village. There are 10 deaths happening simultaneously on one street. It is so horrific. And mind you , fixing a price of Rs.10 lakhs per individual for drinking the poisonous liquor is more demeaning the value and respect for human lives.

TN relies on liquor sales through TASMAC and they literally raised the target every year. Note top 5 distilleries in TN are owned by DMK functionaries and they supply liquor to TASMAC. To meet the target they raised the liquor price drastically and on top of it we need to pay extra Rs.10 for a quarter and there is no receipt given for a commoditythat government sells. Poor people who can't afford such expensive liquor relies on hooch which again manufactured by DMK functionaries using Methanol. Note last year people died consuming liquor from TASMAC itself.
When a animal is killed on the highway the PM must resign but here asking for the CM's resignation is not necessary.

On 9 May 2024 near Sivakasi, 10 people died and 14 people, including a pregnant woman, were seriously injured in an explosion at a firecracker factory operating with government permission. DMK government has not yet announced any compensation to the families of the dead workers or the injured workers but on the day of the Hooch Death incident, the DMK government announced a relief of Rs 10 lakh each. In other words, DMK considers those who worked honestly and died in the firecracker explosion to be idiots.
