They Were Forced to Set Butcher Dates Before Buying Their Farm (Old Way Farm)

- They made processing dates before they even bought the farm. A scary truth that pushed them into the business venture they thought they wanted. While there may not be much financial risk in reserving a processing date for an animal, it does set a very real and tangible deadline. They knew they wanted to have a farm and make it a thriving business, so they set processing dates and then went to go find their farm. It’s been just 3 years and they have already learned so much! For one, they shouldn’t have bought sheep. They continue to learn and grow and expand with detailed financial plans and cold hard drive, they are making this farm work for them!

Crazy story! One of our young employees who has been accepted into the Polyface internship this year sent me a text stating "You are featured in this video".
It was one of the hardest decisions to sell our farm. I was so connected to that land. Jon, just wait until year 4. That's when the pastures really changed.
As the tears of joy roll down my cheeks instead of sweat. I am so proud of this couple for their accomplishment. I may need a hard day of labor soon.
That is awesome!!! ❤️ thank you for sharing!!!

@breakingnewroots, I truly enjoy watching/listening these interviews and learn from them as well about the whole regenerative bit. I continue to learn. When you interview these people do you have them sign release forms or not? How does that work with you/them? :)
Hi!! Thank you so much!! I’m so glad you are enjoying our videos! ❤️ we ask the farmers to watch the video before publishing and keep them updated on our work flow.
