Thank you for reminding me of the beauty of New Mills. I have been here in America for over 55 years, but still think of New Mills with affection. I get the updates and photos from nephew "John Ferns Furniture" lovely wife, Lisa. Your music sets just the right tone. Good luck with your site. Mary C.
Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video, I made this knowing there are lots of people like you who have moved away but want a reminder, or for people who are researching family history. There is a group on facebook called Eh Up New Mills where you can see old and new photos of New Mills and maybe even find people you grew up with chatting on the page
wow ...i grew up here! very little has changed since i left in 83--lovely own but also quite rough in some parts--used to live in the vicarage opposte the old graveyard next to dilworth and morris or `liftem and droppit`as my dad used to call it,lol-----makes me reflect so much on my life and childhood!
Some fun times in the Mills. Winchy, the Armfields, Baxters , Heerys to name just a few. Happy days with the likes of Chris Havery, Nigel Lee et al. Hard but fair town.

The Town Hall (where I attended the under 18s disco’s in the mid 70s) is a great building. Is it listed I wonder?
