I own a bottle of Guerlain Vetiver and it's kinda my work scent in warmer seasons. Andy Tauer once mentioned in one of your videos that if you want to smell vetiver just go buy some vetiver oils or buy Guerlain Vetiver, I think that's the ultimate compliment for this scent!
This was my signature for years! I’ve been through bottles of the stuff but never tried the extreme. I’d also love to try the super rare vetiver pour Elle.
I have both GUERLAIN VETIVER scents, and both are so good for my nose. One diferences betwen them, Vetiver I use when outside temperature rise to 26 celsius, and Extreme Vetiver when ”IF” temperature catch 25 celsius, maybe! For warm spring and chilly fall, those two scents are must have, in every man collection who care for it, without any comment against them.
I was not aware that an Extreme version existed. I enjoy wearing the Guerlain Vetiver and should check out the Extreme version to see how it performs. Thank you for this info Sebastian!
Good call Sebastian. I would love to see a video on the misperceptions surrounding fragrance naming, and how marketing companies typically play on our presumptions when pushing labels like extreme, intense, ultra or whatever. Or perhaps, how EDP does not necessarily confer greater projection or longevity despite the added concentration. Just an idea. And personally, I prefer the extreme version. :)
I’ve heard from many reviewers that Vetiver always comes on top of their Most Masculine Scent lists. I wonder what makes it masculine. I can’t wait to get myself a bottle.
I don't think that this fact is important for the everyday man... because fragrances are very individual in their effect and not every scent that smells great is fitted for everybody
IMO Vetiver is VERY green and vegetal.. uber masculine and classy, yet rugged. Vetiver extreme is similar, but with a toned down vetiver note. Still very green, yet smoother and softer.
Ah nice, Vetiver Extreme was my signature for a couple of years. I love both Vetivers, but the Extreme is just a little bit better imo. I have a couple of backups of the Extreme, there where discontinuation rumours a while ago.
Thanks for the video. A suggestion to help your viewers: when comparing fragrances in near-identical looking bottles (e.g. pretty much all Guerlain masculines) you should refer to each by its name rather than ‘this one’.
I think in the base the beautiful soothing yet overpowering earthy Vetiver is same in both. But the subtle difference is Grassy notes in GVE, whereas GV has that Tobbaco note. But frankly speaking to my nose both of them smells the same, albeit I am liking the GVExtreme more than the other one.
Unfortunately the Vetiver you can find in the shops today is by far not the vetiver from 1995. Vetiver was reformulated at least three times, starting with that ugly square iced bottle. And as I own several original miniature bottles and be able to compare, I must say that the Vetiver from today has nothing in common with the original. You can find lots of opinions to that on Parfumo.
Such a classic house & would love to try the extreme version for sure . Does the original smells a bit dated if you compare it to the extreme version ? I know the classics always will be unique & original . I just got mitsouko & love how the vetiver smells in this masterpiece ! Thanks Sebastian for always bringing great scents to the table !
Yes, RE: Does the original smells a bit dated if you compare it to the extreme version ? Please check it out as I'm not sure how long the Extreme will be around! :)
I wear the newer extreme once a week and the original less so but theres a place for both. As mentioned Extreme seems to mean modernised as its quite different. I could imagine Extreme being worn by someone from 35+ but the original maybe 50+ in the UK 🇬🇧
I have not tried any of the Guerlain Vetiver colognes but Creed Original Vetiver, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver (EDP) and Thierry Mugler Cologne are my go to for a Vetiver five. How does Guerlain Extreme compare to say Tom Ford GV or Creed OV? Thanks again for your review.
Creed Original Vetiver i don't find it to be a vetiver. It's more citruses but they call it a vetiver. I don't smell vetiver in it. Go figure. So compared to the Guerlain they are so so different. But the Tom Ford is definitely a vetiver but a citrusy vetiver. I would think the Tom Ford is more vetiver than the Creed but all three the Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Guerlain Vetiver and Guerlain Vetiver Extreme are three different scents. With Guerlain Vetivers closer to each other than the Tom Ford! :)
"To my nose" Guerlain Vetiver Extreme appeared closer to Gray Vetiver EDP, after all. I have a release Guerlain Vetiver Extreme of 16 or 17 years, no vintage.
I find the TFGV too mild and middle of the road, creed OV is my favourite scent ever and this Guerlain Vetiver is closer to TFGV but cheaper, nicer and with better sillage/projection/longevity than TFGV.
Guerlain are so good at creating addictive scents, i love vetiver as well as habit rouge edp and l'instant de guerlain edt. I could survive on these three alone.
The key with Guerlain Vetiver is to spray from very far away. Too close and you don't get the different dimensions and the freshness, just a rough and overbearing smell
I find guerlain vetiverwith a clean soapy scent though there are other notes. But a soapy scent seems to come thru could I be wrong or not have a good quality one
One of my Favorite note is Vetiver and Guerlain is one of my favorite houses, Guerlain's Vetiver have a very special place in my collection, but like you said when i want something a bit different i rich out for and the Extreme version wich is not Extreme at all but it is diferente thou. Great video.. Cheers! I still have to update myself with the newer bottle of Vetiver I'm still using the original square bottle.
Hi sebastian, have you ever put your nose on the Vintage Guerlain Vetiver Eau De Cologne? I found one on a website but not quite sure on how it smell. Thank you and stay healthy
I bought the one with the green cap (not extreme) and wore it several times in the high heat of Israeli summer. For some reason, only when I spray it on my forearms it gives off this off-putting Scent. This is NOT the case when I spray behind the ears. Any idea why this is so?
Great review as always Sebastian! Will definitely check out the extreme version. Sounds like it might be quite similar to Hermes' Vetiver Tonka?... You don't seem to mention that one in your videos - wondered how you rate it?? :)
Love it thank you for that please let me know if any really good deals come up for the extreme ìd love to try it, I always used Habit rouge before. Thanks again Michael UK.
I also would like to know if you have tried the discontinued fragrance "Life Essence" by fendi, What are your thoughts on it if you did, and is there any fragrance that smells like it, Thank you 😊
Which one is better and more potent in terms of longevity and silage??? What you suggest if someone is buying for the first time this fragrance. Either i should go for the original or the extreme?? Are they smell the same or totally different???
Is it possible to own too many vetiver-based Guerlain frags? I have the original Vetiver and Homme L’Eau Boisée, and am considering Vetiver extreme and standard Homme. Thanks!
I’ve read a lot about Guerlain Vetiver and haven’t smelled it yet. Would you consider the original fresh in any way and able to be worn casually? Great review by the way. I always enjoyed your informative reviews.
Only tried the original. Curious to try the Extreme but it does not seem to be available in the Guerlain shops for testing. My favourite Vetiver is Grey Vetiver EDP. How is the Extreme compared to Encre Noir (I own and like), EN Extreme (I own and not a fan of) and EN Sport (planning to buy)?
IMHO They differs a lot. Guerlain Vetiver is jucier, some green rhubarb vibe in the background, while Guerlain Vetiver Extreme is spicier. OG Guerlain Vetiver is much better (talking about release in the movie, do not know the latest), masterpiece. Vetiver extreme is not well ballanced because of nutmeg note, that is to prominent.
Great review!! I like both but prefer Extreme. Is it time to start stocking up on Extreme? Just checked/searched Guerlain's website and Extreme is nowhere to be found. Has it been discontinued?
Creed’s Original Vetiver has more of that clean, fresh and soapy smell in my opinion which I like but compared to GVE or even TFGV it’s not a full fledged vetiver scent. Thanks! 🤙🏽
Sir may u guide me the genuine source to buy Guerlain Fragrances given I am in Saudi Arab. I watch ur videos enthusiastically and I love the way u represent the perfumes - plz help me as Amazon doesn’t deliver to Saudi Arab.
I dislike the choice of changing the bottles to all uniform. The original bottles of Guerlain Homme, Homme Intense, Homme Boise, L'Instant Guerlain, Heritage, Habit Rouge were original and beautiful. The new bottle looks which I believe were inspired by the Habit Rouge original bottle, look cheap and less luxurious. Even changed the font and logo. It makes sense with the Aqua Allegoria line but changing the mens line to this "all the equal same look'" was a bad marketing move. Yes the uniformity can be neat but they lack character and the excitement to receive the original work of art they once came as.

extremely informative review!!!
THank you!! :)
This was my signature for years! I’ve been through bottles of the stuff but never tried the extreme. I’d also love to try the super rare vetiver pour Elle.
Big fan of Guerlain Vetiver and vetiver fragrances in general. I've never tried Vetiver Extreme, but perhaps I'll pickup a bottle next Spring.
I have both GUERLAIN VETIVER scents, and both are so good for my nose.

Extreme version I need to get it. Nice review brother.
I just bought the Extreme bottle per your suggestion and I am very pleased! Thank you so much for the recommendation! Love your channel!
Thank you for the great review! Finally received my Vetiver Extreme in the mail this morning.
I've always used--and liked--the regular Vetiver in the summer. I think the Extreme version merits a try.
Best Vetiver ever, reasonably priced but hard to find Art et Matieres. Simply amazing.
Love this video I want both especially the extreme
I am leaning toward the extreme. The additional/different notes sounds intriguing. Thanks for the video.
I was not aware that an Extreme version existed. I enjoy wearing the Guerlain Vetiver and should check out the Extreme version to see how it performs. Thank you for this info Sebastian!
It's always as if you are reading my ind Sebastian when I see you post video like this one.
Thank you :)
Love the classic. But after watching this I ordered the extreme

Just bought Vetiver xtreme based on your reviews
I’ve heard from many reviewers that Vetiver always comes on top of their Most Masculine Scent lists. I wonder what makes it masculine. I can’t wait to get myself a bottle.
Guerlain Vetiver is the most worn fragrance by celebrities, along with Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin.
Wow, a cheapie, really??
I don't think that this fact is important for the everyday man... because fragrances are very individual in their effect and not every scent that smells great is fitted for everybody
As always thank you mate,
Today I picked up vetiver extreme and I loved it and my wife went crazy about it 🥰😂
Thank you for your great reviews
I like and also use Extreme edition. Nice fragrance!
Just what I was looking for! Have them both in my shopping cart now but needed to check your channel before buying. Thanks 😊👍
Thank you. The bottle for the Extreme is like the bottle of the original. I bought the latest edition at the discounters too! :)
IMO Vetiver is VERY green and vegetal.. uber masculine and classy, yet rugged. Vetiver extreme is similar, but with a toned down vetiver note. Still very green, yet smoother and softer.
I am going to try guerlain vetiver first and then extreme, good review.
There's been scuttlebutt that Vetiver Extreme has been discontinued and it doesn't seem to be on Guerlain's website. Say it ain't so...
the main difference is the quite powerful incense note in VE that is not in V. I'm looking for a bottle even used of VE...thx!
I prefer the Extreme version, I like that it merely tweaks the classic original to make it a touch more approachable. I only own the Extreme now
It is the first video I watched from this channel. I liked it very much and I just subscribed this. Cool!
I do Have the Vetiver Extreme and just LOVE it! I like the anise and incense note... Great video!
Thank you Sebastian! Great video! It is very useful for me! And it is pure pleasure to here your thoughts about these beautiful fragrances!

The original is extreme enough , it lasts a very long time on my skin and is pure class in a bottle .
Totally! :)

Thank you very much. Appreciate you stopping by to watch and comment!
a real vintage Gerlain Vetiver has a gold cap/atomizer (pre 1999)
Is the different only in the projection and longivity? Or does it smell very differently?
Hi sebastian, have you ever put your nose on the Vintage Guerlain Vetiver Eau De Cologne? I found one on a website but not quite sure on how it smell. Thank you and stay healthy
I want a guerlain cologne for myself I’m a woman but which would you recommend? I like spicy and fresh colognes.
Guerlain Ideal

It's vetiver leans masculine but women wear vetiver. You have to try it and see if it works on you. But most of the time it does! :)
