@Barnyrubbleism Welcome back! For someone who doesn't like my videos, you sure have watched a lot. I think you have made your point, I will leave your comments up so that people can take your warning about following my advice, or not. But that is enough negativity now, I am blocking your account.
@143sinead Mate, suggest you watch the whole series through - it has everything I know in there. Without knowing what you shoot, or what you are trying to achieve - I cannot give specific advice. Broadly, if you are just shooting for fun, get the Sigma unless you are wealthy.
@Langtoftphotography He was testing 3 lenses, each of them have the mount in a slightly different place so testing it equally would be harder. He said in the first video that normally YES he does uses the one on the lens. But for this time to make sure all is equal the one on the body.
Great comparison series! Thanks for all the effort... and Dear Santa, I'd be happy with any one of those lenses to play with but if I've been extra good this year can I please have the Nikon!
@BIGGSHAUN Thanks mate - but 'Barney' just started the account the day he started attacking my videos - I imagine it is now abandoned. Forget him - I can take the occasional angry viewer - there are lots of great, thankful and support viewers to outweigh it :)
I've just got a Sigma 70-300 an older one but it has macro fitted and boy it is bloody good, looked at Tamron but friends have they I like to be different so went for the Sigma glad I did. Great review Matt I've subscribed, keep them coming.
I would love to get the tamron version this december but the price I can afford is the sigma! Still some of the best bokeh and overall reviews of all gear on youtube!
i'm about to seriously upgrade my SLR camera (currently using Canon Rebel XT with crappy lenses) to a Nikon D5100 or even a D7000. I really don't want to spend the money for the Nikon lens unless I have to. Do you think that the Sigma (or even the Tamron, which seems a few notches below the Sigma and Nikon) is a good enough lens to justify not spending the extra dough?
Hi, iam looking for a 70-200 lens for my d7000. Iam considering either the sigma or the nikon.. Iam a amatuer photographer. Which one do you think i should buy?? Iam really really in a dilemma now.
Did you ave the 5100 body mounted on the tripod or the lens. I have the 24-70 and it's really heavy and i wouln't want to have the body carry all the weight.
Thanks for reply Matt, but sorry i didn't get you...and one more thing i am planning to buy SLR now and i am a average earning person just i loved the photography and its my hobbies so want to take it to next level and at my budget i can get canon 1100d as Nikon is costly here in India then canon (Canon 24000Rs - Nikon 29000Rs) please suggest me if i am going in right path as want to have good SLR and lense and i am saving for this from last 1 yr...and now i have collect money for have these SRL
I am an up and coming newspaper photographer and I am looking for a solid lens to get me good shots in low-light conditions. Which lens would you recommend for a combination of image sharpness and good low light photos?
where we can look for the full size images that you shoot in these test ? Is it just pay a lot of money for a lens who declares 200m instead of 135mm at max zoom (nikon)?
I shoot everything from formal wedding portraits to very high speed motorsports and college basketball with the VR1 on both the D700 and D7000. I have not had any problems at all selling images with either of these combinations.
@thatnikonguy sorry for my inglse but I am Italian Anyway ... I wanted to know where I can find the files in your test at maximum resolution and if it is right to pay so much a lens like the nikkor 70-200 vr2 with a maximum focal length cut to 135mm instead of the 200mm declared ..
@thatnikonguy yeap i did watched all the episodes.. One last question, will third party lens affect my camera?? i mean like slowly making the internal of my camera start to spoil. Or its fine to buy and use 3rd party lens.coz iam playing to buy a number of lenses and somehow decided most of the lenses on sigma. what's your opinion ? thanks dude;D
Dear Matt I go thru your 3 Videos trying to find the the advantage of buying Nikon Vs Tamron or Sigma , With out results, you video presentation is good but I was unable to find any relevant difference between those lens 70-200 2.8. I hope in your 4th you will came up with a conclusion that help to make a buying decision ease. SALUDOS
Hi Silje! Your question wasn't directed to me, but I can answer it: all Sigma lenses with HSM have a motor built in so they will work with your camera no problem.
Hey Matt This is a really great shootout. I have been saving up for the Canon F4 L IS lens for my Canon 60D, but I have recently seen a lot of reviews for the Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS and I have decided to go with it instead. Still got a bit of saving to do before I go away this coming July, but really looking forwards to getting my hands on it. Thanks for your awesome reviews and Tutorials. Keep them coming. Take care
andyryan2732 Image stabilizer is not really worth it. It just adds more glass to the lens which makes it heavier + less sharp because the light has to travel through more glass. Go with the f2.8, whatever brand without the stabilizer, save some bucks and get sharper images. As long as you won't handhold the camera under the 1/focal length, like 1/200 when you're zoomed in to 200mm you should be fine handholding.
Im no expert, but image wise, they are both great. but i have read reviews where both the sigma and tamron are slower to focus. If you plan on shooting indoors, and you wana shoot at 200mm, youll probably want IS, as shooting at 1/50 second your images wont be all that crisp without a tripod. I myself am debating the canon WITH IS or the Tamron, since the Tamron is 1/2 the price, i might go that route
+David Ebanks had a chance to work with them both the Canon and the Sigma i would have to give it to the Canon for the most part but the Sigma is very close, almost hard to tell close.
Hi Matt, thanks a lot for your valuable info i really like it, can you please tell me if have any slimmer videos ( where i can see more comparable of lenses) would like to learn from your vids. Vaibhav Kadam (India)
I think he means the Nikon is expensive for a lens that at closest focus breathes enough to make a 200mm setting produce only 135mm lens's angle of view, and he's like to see what you shot full size on flickr or a similar site to have a close look.
it was a spam account = forget it. PS I cannot reply your private message as you have contact lock enabled. FYI - I had no problem with mine - check the 24-70 showdown videos
Hi, thanks for the 3 parts, got the mother of sigmas range 70-200mm os yesterday and i love it already. One thing, the subjects i find a bit boring alright. I know you explained it to that douche bag who complaint about your videos why you go for the subjects you are going for. However how about some nice maybe old cars for example for subjects? Otherwise thanks for doing them! (the videos that is... :) )
@NDSCollector that was the d700, mounted on the body. fine for short term.
@wilbertcs thank you. Yes party four will include a final conclusion too.
@BillabongNJ Kata bumblebee UL - fabulous backpack.
@f19klunk is uploading right now, it failed over night, sorry. Maybe 3 hours til live.
@Vaibhav Kadam I've also find a24-70 comparison
@eleazarmonteloyola yes - but depends what you need. The Nikon will mean a lot more savings!
Very good video Matt. Very detailed review. You never fail to please. Can't wait for your review on the primes.
@Umkomaas2010 glad you like it. One last one coming.
@BIGGSHAUN hey mate, sorry to be off hand, but all my thoughts are in these videos. It is up to you whether the trade off is worth the cost/saving.
@joooohhnnn thanks for the comment mate
@Langtoftphotography as others say, I did just to keep the body in same place
Thanks. Nice video and very nice review / compare. Nice work. Yes, I think you make well to extend this tests within lenses like that!
@froshmasta my pleasure
@thelatinfunktion final now up.
@143sinead rest assured that using Sigma or any quality third party products will not affect/damage your camera.
@Barnyrubbleism Welcome back! For someone who doesn't like my videos, you sure have watched a lot. I think you have made your point, I will leave your comments up so that people can take your warning about following my advice, or not. But that is enough negativity now, I am blocking your account.
@milamberDaReal I haven't used the macro sigma
Good work Matt. I've just bought the Tamron 70-200 and this is by far the best review I've seen
@143sinead Mate, suggest you watch the whole series through - it has everything I know in there. Without knowing what you shoot, or what you are trying to achieve - I cannot give specific advice. Broadly, if you are just shooting for fun, get the Sigma unless you are wealthy.
@fvgotch D2x, nice one - why?
@Langtoftphotography
He was testing 3 lenses, each of them have the mount in a slightly different place so testing it equally would be harder. He said in the first video that normally YES he does uses the one on the lens. But for this time to make sure all is equal the one on the body.
Liked the three part series. I liked the Nikon so I bought a used one that is like new and really love it on my D500 and D810.
@tmadd4 what do you mean safer?
@abacusv coming soon.
Enjoyed so far!! Whats your verdict on these three lens?
Great comparison series! Thanks for all the effort...
and Dear Santa, I'd be happy with any one of those lenses to play with but if I've been extra good this year can I please have the Nikon!
Look at the way Matt's leaning at 3:41.....how's he doing that without falling over?
@NIKONShoots cheers
@mrmixjay what do you mean?
@BIGGSHAUN Thanks mate - but 'Barney' just started the account the day he started attacking my videos - I imagine it is now abandoned. Forget him - I can take the occasional angry viewer - there are lots of great, thankful and support viewers to outweigh it :)

Still some of the best bokeh and overall reviews of all gear on youtube!
@manualwarr in terms of bokeh, the 85mm is king
Did you catch a pickpocket at 6:54?
haha looks like that lady is carrying a few purses / bags. her friends are just getting stuff out.

Can u review the new Sigma 70-200 sports lens and compare with Tamron G2 ?
Hi Matt, the remote gadget on top of the D5100, what was the make and how did that work? thanks

At 6:56...is that a photo of someone being pickpocketed?

Nice video, but Look at the bokeh when shooting with the 85mm! OMG! I am quite sure it is one of your favourites... Am I wrong?
Hi Nikon guy,
Just like to say good videos watched lots of them, will keep watching.
Thanks

Hi Matt can you suggest which one is good for me (canon 1100d) sigma 70-300 DG Macro or
sigma 70-300 APO DG macro.
@thatnikonguy sorry for my inglse but I am Italian
Anyway ... I wanted to know where I can find the files in your test at maximum resolution

Hey Matt. Love the series. Can you do one on back button focussing? I am shooting with Nikon D610.
@thatnikonguy Is there much difference between Nikon 70 - 200mm VR and the VRII?
@thatnikonguy yeap i did watched all the episodes.. One last question, will third party lens affect my camera?? i mean like slowly making the internal of my camera start to spoil. can you do sigma 50-150 DC os 2,8?.. thx very much
Thanks I fixed it! Keep up the good work love the videos!
Hi Silje! Your question wasn't directed to me, but I can answer it: all Sigma lenses with HSM have a motor built in so they will work with your camera no problem.
Is the Tamron Lens the
TAMRON SP AF 70-200mm F/2.8 Di ?

Hi Matt, Do all these lenses work with the Nikon TC14II?
Hey Matt and peeps, please say which is better: Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX DG HSM OS or Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L non IS. Thanks in advance!!
Im no expert, but image wise, they are both great. but i have read reviews where both the sigma and tamron are slower to focus. @fvgotch Cool!
But which is better Tamron or Nikkor?
Is this a professional tripod how much did you pay for it.?
Which image quality is better?
what bag is that?

Sorry I don't see number 4
Thanks !!!
why nobody compare canon 70-200 2.8 IS ll to nikon 70-200 2.8 VR2 ?
@thatnikonguy
Hurry cuz I am on the verge to buy....one... of them :D
Much appreciated series!!! thanx
Magnification ratio is 1:3.1 (at f=200mm, MFD : 0.95m) not 1:1
Don't you shoot RAW?
Dear. Matt
What the hell happened to your body position at 3:26??? Look like you're about to tilt:) or is it just me?
Because you chose to shoot at 135mm focal length instead of the max zoom 200mm, he thought that they were limited to 135mm.
You're spelling "You're" wrong. :)
Hi, thanks for the 3 parts, got the mother of sigmas range 70-200mm os yesterday and i love it already. One thing, the subjects i find a bit boring alright.
