A vactrol is a type of optoelectronic device that uses light to transfer electrical signals between isolated circuits. It makes synth sounds sound more acoustic. The way they decay is like a stringed instrument being plucked. Also the Buchla 259 Oscillator is unique. Lots of waveforms not normally used that can be swept through
