    i’m sad you’re leaving gymnastics katie but i’m so proud you’re going to join cheerleading. it’s great that you’re going to explore new sports and you were so talented in gymnastics you’re going to be insane in cheerleading! i wish the best for you and hope you fall in love with your new sport 💗

      Shes gonna be super good @ cheer especially the flexible parts of it she'll be one of the main ones and also tumbling(flips & stuff) she'll be one of the main talented ones in that too😍 and if she ever does dance or is on a dance team or anything similar she will be really good @ it like one of the best🔥

    I saw it coming. Your decision to go back to public school was the first sign. Then you were always so exhausted between gym and school. And I'm sure you were tired of breaking your toes all the time. Good luck with your future! It will be fantastic :)

      emmylikesdonuts I saw she could have done public and gymnastics at the same time. Just because someone is a high level doesn’t mean they need to be homeschooled.

    • @emmylikesdonuts1171
      @emmylikesdonuts1171 6 років тому +2

      Yes I do understand that, I actually know some level 10 girls who also go to public school. However, it just kind of seemed to me that she was losing passion for gymnastics. Making the decision is perfectly fine and was probably the right decision for her life, but it just seemed like she was making the decision because she wanted to explore other things and make sure gymnastics was the right thing, which in a way would mean that she was losing some of her passion.

      My friend is a lvl 9 and goes to public school with me and she’s in advanced classes but she’s doing just fine handling all that. I think Katie was just losing her passion for gym with breaking her toes and everything

      nene 1923 That's great :) I love it when gymnasts are dedicated to gymnastics but don't make it the only thing in their life. It's great to experience other things :) It was just that when Katie chose to go to school after doing only gymnastics for all those years, it seemed like she was kind of losing interest, if you know what I mean.

I have kind of got the feeling that your passion for gymnastics hasn't been there since the last injury. Good luck on your new adventures and congrads on making the varsity team.

    one year ago i made the same decision as you. after 11 years of high skilled competitive gymnastics i stopped because of injuries and since i was mid way through freshman year i wanted to really experience high school. i was able to attend school dances, football games, and many after school activities that i never had the chance to before. i did one year of varsity cheer, indoor track, and softball. i never thought i would love anything more than gymnastics until i tried something new. i now have broken a record in track and am on two softball teams. i was even able to travel across the world on a once and a lifetime trip and spend more time with the people i love. nothing has ever changed my life more than the decision to stop and i have no regrets. gymnastics will still be my one and only true passion but you never know what the world has to offer until you try new things. i can’t wait to see what you try next. :)

    Making varsity cheer is an amazing thing! Cheer has been apart of my whole life up until last year when I injured my back and it put me out for the year, but when I was not cheering I saw a different side of my life and I decided not to go back. I hope you enjoy cheering because it is truly a great sport and remember you will always have gymnastics because although you won’t be doing the same events you can still use your skills and grow. Hey Katie! I very much understand what you're going through❤️ I have been a dancer all my life and was spending about 25 hours a week in the studio, I love dance and it is in every aspect of my life but I also wanted to experience high school. After my sophomore year I stopped dancing at a studio and participated in all the theater things at my school which was so much fun! While sometimes I really struggled with my decision when I saw my other friends at the studio and competitions without me, I know now that I made the right decision for me. I'm now going into college and I'm back into dance! I don't regret taking a step back at all because I did get to do things that I otherwise would have never been able to do in high school! Sorry this was so long but I hope this helps you in finding some more peace with your decision! I wish you all the best with cheer❤️

  • @Peacefulh20
    @Peacefulh20 6 років тому

    Katie, you have to do what’s best for you and yes, it is def a hard choice but sometimes the right ones are always the hardest. My karate coaches daughter had the same issue...she made it to level 10 then went into high school, tried out for cheer, made it into varsity cheer and spent 4 years as a cheerleader but she also stayed in gymnastics. She didn’t compete, she just went to the gym a couple days a week to keep her skills up and to help with her tumbling for cheer. Now that she is in college, she competes in gymnastics for her university. There are many options out there so you never know. You may find your way back onto the beam :) thanks for taking us along on your gymnastics journey. It has been fun watching you grow as a gymnast and a person. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you :) 💕💕

I would say you are following your heart but it’s clear from this video that you vetted this decision and didn’t make it lightly. You will be an amazing cheerleader, and it will allow you to fully experience high school. Looking forward to following you and supporting you on your new journey. This video was exactly what I needed. I am/was a competitive gymnast and I also did cheer, but this year I wanted to try out school volleyball and that meant that I couldn’t do gymnastics at the same time. My past few months at gymnastics, I also started to lose interest in the sport, also with many injuries along the road and I decided that it might be best for me to try other things because for the past multiple years, gymnastics was my entire life. I remember watching you back in the first months of your Level 7 days. Time has seriously flown. Although I am a little sad for sentimental reasons, I understand why you're doing it. Congrats on making varsity! That's huge. Can't wait to see where this adventure takes you. Yes gymnastics was and still is a big part of ur life, people also have to understand that gymnastics doesn't define u. Besides when u were with the coral girls and with the whole gymschool channel, u were all little, and people have to understand that things were bound to happen to that whole group of people. In most cases, teams of people normally end up separating and finding other passions. It's very rare that you find a dance team (just using dance as an example) with more or the same amount of people that it started out with by the time everyone is in high school. Change is a good thing, people just have to go in open minded and just have to understand that at the end of the day, it's ur decision.

    i made the exact same decision to take a break from gymnastics and try out for the cheer team my freshman year and i think it was one of my best decisions i’ve made. you can always get back into gymnastics after high school but the way you get involved in high school through cheerleading will be something that sticks with you! im so proud and know you will love cheer!

    I’m so glad you’re branching out!! It’s good to do sports at school in high school so you can have a group of friends at school on the same team as you. Cheerleading is a great sport especially for former gymnasts, but I prefer pom. Of course I was never in high level gymnastics and not super committed to it either but I’m sure you’ll do great in cheer!!

      Juliette van veen , cheer also has scholarships, and she could get one for other sports or just her education... and she might come back to gymnastics 😉😉

      Katie doesn't present it too much on the channel but she's really really smart and gets amazing grades. She won't have any problem getting a merit scholarship. I hope she goes to med school and turns out to be an amazing surgeon. Or she could go to NYU who just announce free tuition for all. They're the only top 10 med school to have free tuition.

    I actually cried during this video😭but I’m glad katie is trying something new. It would be better for her to try something new then for her to continue on for something she’s not really feeling. I know it must be very sad, but there will always be a place in her heart for gymnastics

    I think that it's a good move for you. Gymnastics is great, and you're right, it has made you into a super hard working, strong, motivated person, but taking care of your body is also important. I know so many people who have chronic pain from continuing in sports out of obligation when their bodies said, "enough!"
    I hope you really love cheerleading!

  • @summerdunn
    @summerdunn 6 років тому

    I did the exact same thing. I quit gym in 8th grade after breaking my right arm. Made varsity and then lived through my high school experience. It definitely was something I needed to do but I will say there is something about gymnastics that never leaves you. Cheer was fun but you do grow out of it, the good thing is that you will always have those skills and muscle memory is amazing! Have a blast in high school and know that you always have the power to do whatever you want.

    i have a similar story. i left competitive gymnastics so i could do high school theatre. i know its a hard decision but Im happy for you that you are trying other things and going out of your comfort zone. i think that it will make you very well rounded in the future. like you im open to the idea of going back but i want to do lots of different things and being an optional gymnast takes up a lot of your time.
