HL2 VR mod (arguably even more fun than HLA) is proof of why valve HAS to make HL3 a VR compatible game that is seamlessly crossplayable for both types of players
this has to be the dumbest, sloppiest attempt at making a point I've ever seen. a game being VR doesnt prove anything. asking for crossplay is completely out of the question, anf making it VR and Not VR at the same time, to a studio level polish, is an absurdly tall order. you must understand absolutely less than nothing about game development.
@@ThomasHendrickson It's not really that impossible. There are games that have VR and non-VR cross play. You probably haven't played HL-Alyx if you don't understand why he's making this point. It was an amazing game for VR and arguably one of the greatest VR titles out there. It made you feel like you're playing Half Life for the first time. That's what made it special. Making it an option to play in VR and not is a great way to still release a game and get people into the idea of VR.
TLDR- I would love official VR support to be included off the rip, or maybe a year after launch. I totally agree that VR support would be huge, but it could hold back the flat version if they don't severely gimp the VR mode's visuals, or wait a few years to release it. On one hand games like RE7 seemed to translate pretty well into VR, but I wouldn't say RE7 REALLY pushed any boundaries the way HL3 probably is going to try to do. On the other hand Cyberpunk is still hard to play at max settings years later, so I'm pretty sure you'd NEED a 4090 (if not more) to make a VR port able to hold up even somewhat comparable to the flat game.

Is there any information/hints about whether it will be VR or not? Counter-intuitively, I hope it is. HL Alyx showed great promise in regards to making every environmental object a possible gameplay element, and there's a lot of room for VR-driven FPS gameplay to improve. Also, Valve has this "tradition" of only coming up with a new HL game when there's tangible innovations in graphics and gameplay, and VR is one of them. Ideally, the more popular VR gets, the better and cheaper VR sets will become
Half Life 3 needs to be Both VR and Flat screen. There's no reason it can't be. I've been playing Halflife 2 (and the first one) in vr and it's fantastic. Third definitely needs VR support.
1. Half-Life 1 was a big inovation because it was the first FPS to have a big story 2. Half-life 2 inovated with realistic physics 3. Half-life 3 according to leaks is messing around with gravity a lot, I cant really think any games of the top of my head that mess with gravity that much Half-Life 3 will be innovative(Gravity) and if you think they wont innovate, at their magnum opus then that is just plain stupid of you Also, have you heard of giving people hope, instead of automaticaly assuming it will be bad? EDIT: you reaally think you will get away with this by changing the thumbnail and title?
ngl, in half life 3 they should make like gordon goes back to black mesa, and something happens, or a filler on something, but ngl, black mesa would feel better, because it would go back to the roots of the series, besides, we've haven't seen how and why the enemies go from being the vortigons to the combine, like, half-life 1, vortigons are bad, expansions, different POVs but if i'm not wrong the vortigons are still the enemies, half-life 2 vortigons are now good somehow and now the enemies are the combine WHICH ARE STILL FROM XEN if i'm not wrong so... half-life 3 could fill in on that, yeh, ik that black mesa kind of already does that, but we need a main line game which explains it completely, for the sake of the timeline
The Combine aren't from Xen. Xen is just a borderworld, think of it like a bus stop in the middle of the road between two cities. The vortigaunts go from being enemies to Gordon to friends because Gordon freed them from the Nihilanth's control, that's why they don't have their shackles anymore. We can't go back to Black Mesa either, it got nuked according to Opposing Force.
@@thesenate9939 maybe they can take us back in time (memory of gordon) to experience some of black mesa again, the resonance cascade would look amazing in source 2

Plenty of games mess with gravity. You can do it garry's mod if you want. It's really not that interesting in itself.
