Great job, you fid there. This was my dream boat, and now 30 years later I got one from France. Very yello plastic, so I desided to do a different sceme, and paint it like je Jesse James cat from 85. That boat is very similar to the hurricane.
Wow! It turned out great! It was a really yellowed mess when you started and It is really cool you it all fixed up and back out for another rip! It looks great and performs great as well. It really snapped through those turns without even wobbling! Great job Luke!
I wanted that so bad back in the day but I could only afford the viper i think there’s a up to date version of the hurricane but i just love the look of this one I used to subscribe to rc boat action magazine and had the issue that covered this boat I read every paragraph forward and backwards in the chance that if i ever got it I would put all the hop ups they recommended I think with today’s batteries electronics and motors that would be a beast
I still have my Kyosho Heatwave boat with nitro motor from way back then. I think it's all working however needs a lot of work. Nitro fuel was messy. Upgrade the prop from plastic to alloy. It's way better.
Like watching your boat restorations. Have to see if you did any nitro boats... I have a very early 2000s Traxxas Nitro Vee. Not sure if I want to keep the nitro or do a brushless swap to it. Nitro may be fiddly but I think it would be cool to keep it in stock nitro form.
I never restored a nitro boat but I did drive one and it was great. It was the Jet Stream 1000 with a .32S. I hope I I could do a nitro boat resto someday. Thank you for your support
My brother had the mrc miss budweiser hydroplane, with dual 540’s . Sadly when we cleaned out my dads house and all my RC stuff got thrown away so did miss budweiser. I’d love to have that boat now, but they’re going for a hefty price sadly.
I realize this video is a year old but I inherited my grandpa’s Hurricane (that I coveted as a kid) and it needs all electronics restored. Where can I find rebuild/upgrade parts?
You can do a bit of photoshop on some online images. Kinda what I had to do. Decals are rarely online for this boat or many others I’ve restored on my channel. If they do it’s over $100. Probably why there’s nobody else doing total restoration videos of them. Thanks
I think I would get rid of the yellowing by lightly air brushing the entire hull over in white and then instead of putting more decals on it I would do a air brushed copy of them and and a high gloss clear coat over the entire hull after painting
Hi it's me once again I'm still sitting here having really begun this project because I just am flustered with the decals that were applied oh so long ago. I was wondering your route of painting really looks to be the best route at tackling this project and I was just wondering how did you get that hurricane decal made. And the next question is how much do I have to pay you to fabricate that decal? You mentioned that you would probably buy decals but where would you buy those? Any answers would be a big help.
Hi bud as you see I had to paint mine and it’s a job. Worth it. I peel off the old and scanned the decals that were ok. I unfortunately didn’t save anything as project was finished. Should be able to use photoshop. Thanks 😊
The memories! I agree, that is THE boat I would get - if I started a serious vintage RC collection.
Just a really nice running and looking thing. Definitely stood the test of time of iconic rc. Thanks
Great job on the restore Luke. Looks awesome
Thanks for watching

Hi Addam, It was a true pleasure to fix it and was entertaining on the pond and on a beautiful day just priceless. Million thanks 😊

It’s not suitable for crazy power. The plastic has an expiration point.

A true centrefold of the 90s rc magazine !
Exactly 👍
Awesome boat! Nice job!!
Thanks ☺️
I’d love to see that bad boy throw up a huge rooster tail and look like u trimmed it out perfectly it tracks straight that must’ve been fun to restore
I’d be afraid the 34 year plastic would start to break with that kind of power. Traxxas Spartan is your option
Beautiful resto as well buddy !
Thanks bro 😊
You can’t beat the old Kyosho boats. I have some nib that I will build up one day!
Thanks for watching
Nice boat.
Thank you
Great restauration, very nice boat, didnt knew that one before. Just checked out if one is for sale, it is, looking good and not too expensive:-)
WoW grab it. Very cool. Thanks 😊
I'd say leave it as is, it looks great.
Yeah I’m gonna leave it. Being a restorer you like to have all original pieces but there’s exceptions. Thanks 😊

It’s crazy the prices are going for vintage rc. Thanks bud
Put some tape over the hole in drive shaft… keeps water from coming up the tube. I used to run series 6 cell packs for insane speed
Imagine that could happen if it’s in the water for a while.
I realize this video is a year old but I inherited my grandpa’s Hurricane (that I coveted as a kid) and it needs all electronics restored. Where can I find rebuild/upgrade parts?
@@rexburg22re I’d try some kyosho forums or eBay. Thanks for watching. More videos ahead.
Omg I have one in at moms house…. eBay here I come!
Great! I own one, too. But I do not not know where to get nee decails from?

@@LukesVintageRC possible to get help from you? No prob‘ to spend some dollars on decails.
@MrPathau help how?
@@LukesVintageRC want to restore my hurricane. Just want to know where to get decails from
Please watch the video for all information. Enjoy
Hi Luke, looks great. How much would a new Vintage Hurricane go for these days, in box, not assembled? If you could find one?
eBay possibly, thanks
I have one brand new in a box. It’s a great boat, lot’s of fun. maybe I’ll restore the old one and sell the new one?
I found one on FB market place here in UK , boxed original unbuilt £200
Dude I think you should keep it the way it looks 🍒
I’m a restoration channel though lol!

@@LukesVintageRC I’ll be honest I skipped through most of it lol I was at work lol
And you want to restore one of these boats. 😂

A new hurricane just posted on eBay
Be sure to check out my other rc videos. Thanks
Weak spot was the crappy plastic prop.. Prather made glass filled ones, but Kyosho used plain plastic
You can brass one cheap off eBay. Thanks
Nice boat
Thanks 😊
