What amazing stories of the power of the storms and the resilience of the people. This needs to be put out there to show that these islands haven't been forgotten.
So devastating that this has fallen off the news radar as "old news". Seeing that radio tower folded in half just blew my mind - the wind needed to do that is unfathomable. Another great video Rick, I appreciate the effort that you and Brandon are putting into sharing the plight of the islands. Peace, fair winds and following seas!
Great work spreading news about the devastation but more importantly the resilience , determination and positiveness of the island residents. It seems that you're the only sailing channel that takes the time to report on this which makes the others self-indulgent and singularly pleasure-seeking centric. Enjoy the good stuff when we can and roll up our sleeves when we must.
Oh yeah, thank you for what you do by getting information out that the news media has done forgotten about. this info needs to be given to the public. You the man rick!!!
Holy fawk brother i wine when i got to shovel snow those poor peeple lost it all and they still can smile. such a different world down there. thanks for showing the world what took place. Peace and be safe out there.
Devastation every where it's hard to believe that so much time later it's still not fixed up, One of the most beautiful islands I've seen on your channel Rick, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thanks Rick for showing how devastating St.Martin was after the hurricanes. It would appear that rebuilding is well on its way and hopefully the tourist trade improves as well!
all that destruction in such a place of beauty is so sad. I'm glad to see hopes are high and recovery is running full speed ahead. It is inspirational how they are recovering. Puts life in perspective for me that people need to remember no matter how bad they have it, you can overcome the challenges presented to you.
The media showed the disaster of Irma for a couple of weeks and then it’s like it never happened. The truth is, it will take many years before life returns to normal for the survivors. Katrina hit us in 2005, and it is just starting to feel normal again for us. But, the good news is, it does get better! Thanks for the update, Rick.
So sad, So hard to watch, I live here in NW Florida (Pensacola) and went through a lot of Hurricanes in the past 65 years and know how hard it is to rebuild after the fact, Prayers for all the strong people of the Islands in there time of need. 0
Why oh why do we not hear about this on the european news? Shame on those countries who's overseas territories are not getting the support they should be. Including the UK! Rick and team thanks for reporting this as it is and telling the full story when everyone else is.... Well just somewhere else!! Great series of videos. Sail safe. Ant and Cid x
Nice video as usual Rick. Great drone shots at Pelican Key and nice to see your interview with Topper. I was back recently during the last week of June 2018. Westjet has been flying down from Toronto since April 29th. I stayed with my son in a condo at Simpson Bay Resort which is back in great shape. My son also flew his drone off Pelican View at Pelican Key. His ATV battery died up there hahaha Keep those videos coming .. Always enjoy watching them...
Goodday Rick last yr we where caught out in Lake Ontario in 70 mph winds couldn t even imagine wind speeds over 200 mph scary scary stuff great job on video
We never realize the scope of the damage from.up here in the north. Nice work Captn in showimg and having some locals put numbers on the difficult task of rebuilding...do they ever really recover? Good job Captn
here before a million views. checking in capt rick. The production is absolute amazing as always. and edit is professional levels. Brendan you can make some good money editing for right content creator . I know you will do well in anything you get into . Wishing you the best and much success.
Nice video Rick. I hope God will bless the people that were effected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. I watched the Delos version of yall's meet up. Just curious other than Delos have you ever met any other sailing you tubers while you have been sailing around the Caribbean. Also hope all is well with you
Thank you Rick. Heartbreaking; but understand what you are doing. Wish I was a millionaire; I'd come down and pay all y'alls bills; just to hang in your company. for a few months. Keep doing what your doing....
Real people facing unimaginable devastation to their lives, homes, and livelihoods. Superb interviews and a fantastic behind the facade look at something no other provides. Great job Rick. Titties and beer aren't always most important. I realize this is going to cause an outburst of comments. 🤣
Suggestion: remove sunglasses--especially ones with mirrored lenses--when conducting interviews or when recording indoors (like in SL's salon). In the first case, they can cause the interviewee to feel uncomfortable, and in the second case they're not necessary and introduce a barrier between you and your viewers. Otherwise, great reporting as usual.
A great report Rick. I am afraid I wouldn't be as positive as your interviewed. What devastation! Has the population declined of those who have given up?

Wow incredable. I'm from South Africa. I take my hat off to the Nederlands and the incredible people of St. Martin. Incredible respect.

I used to live at Le Grand St. Martin in Marigot. Anyone have information on how it was affected?
RICK THATS AWESOME
Me and a buddy are planning on vacationing there in May 2019.
Can't wait to taste again a Tuna carpaccio and a catch of the day at Skip Jacks...
It was sad till the lady in pink started to talk that made me tear up so sorry for them but it will soon be better that ever.
Where do people take their boats when the storms come?
Great vid Rick. 220mph. Cant comprehend...
Where does all the rubble go to? There is so much of it!
Horrific only word I can think of. Amazing effort in re-building.
Thanks Rick :-')
where does all the rubble end up?
good vid man

Rick - Are you sure this is new. I do believe this has been posted before.
FYI -Rick did a real time update which had a few of these St Maarten clips SSL 283
@21:00 looks like 80s Lebanon, not a Caribbean paradise.
If I ever build on the islands, I would build out of solid concrete.
😔💗
