@@zebastianengelska6831 you dont have to be nocturnal to make night tank. Dim the lighting, put it somewhere isolated from other light, simulate day and night circle but in reverse. This has been done to many other nocturnal species exhibit in zoo
You can do it either by dimming the lights or by lighting the exhibit with red light. I have seen some deep water exhibits that had red light so the creatures could be seen.
Could've tried the Compressiceps Sumbu Shell. They do interact together in the wild and the Sumbu even claim a shell in the colony. They may eat fry though. Really excited to start keeping she'll dwellers again.
I just had to stop bye as a new subscriber, new fish hobbyist musician and creator. I want you to know how much I really really appreciate you production value. You not only make a great dialogue and story but brother the audio, lighting and just chill nature was awesome 👏🏿 bravo I love it !!!!
I've been wanting to do a lake tanganyika biotope with frontosa shell dweller Julie's cyps and lelupis for a long time. Just started with a new 75 and been afraid to put in fronts for predation but this video has given me hope! 125 next!
I watched it back then and sometimes i watch it again. Why? Because its my favorite video of this channel. ps. Baltic sea biotupe would be dope but you cant get those plants and fishes. Or european biotype with perch, roach or Zoarces viviparus its really unheard not hobby fish but its beautiful altest i like it.
When I first started to research if I wanted to get into this hobby. Your videos are the first ones I watched. I watched for over a year and got my first tank. Just a 15 gallon. To test the waters... pun intended, if I would enjoy it. Well I do .. im hooked. Just upgraded to a 55 gallon. I'm having so much fun. I cannt wait to travel to see your open to the public space. Good luck and see you sometime.
I just love this tank. I’m telling you now Joey when I get a place of my own my first aquarium in it will be a African shell dweller tank with Frontosa. It’s plain, simple but oh so beautiful! I love the algae on the sides and the natural look of it all and I would never be cleaning that flow pump until the plant stops the blades from spinning! Can’t wait to see these fish in real life in a 180G!
Bro. Awesome video. In depth on just the shell dwellers and frontoza. Like you I could stare at it for a while. Can't wait to see what you have in store at Joey's aquarium gallery.
When you mention a long short tank, maybe wide also, I was hoping you were mimicking or immulating river or stream ecosystem tank, with a filter blowing water one direction it can mimic fast current water like a creek or river, and adding rock or boulder and drift wood, keeping some bottom dwellers like sucker or pleco of any algae eater fish in the tank would be a nice tank, since you're also getting the side view also with top view with the tank being short.
I love this journey you've been on. It was the original shell dwellers that led me to watching your channel in earnest. Looking forward to the new gallery! I will travel more than 3,000 miles to come see it!
I love them!!! They´re super cool fish. But I think the smallest cichlid in the world is the Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis, with males rarely getting to 4cm (less than 2 inch), and females around 3cm (just above an inch), they´re a super cool fish to have in small planted tanks, maybe you should check them :)
Joey I am happy to see you are going to open to the public with the new site. A great opportunity to educate the public face to face and generate a new revenue stream. I love ciclids. Had a tank 20 years ago and thinking very seriously about getting back into the hobby, as I have more time now that Im retired. This tank if fascinating to watch. The frontosa are majestic fish to watch . And this tank is so peaceful to watch. I expect this is a 150, right? Keep going my friend!
I have a 420 well mixed variety tank. Been on the ponder of making my own pond and plywood tank but I feel as if I would mess it up. Also prices aren’t too friendly right now on anything
“I pause the video now”, Joey, for those of us that have followed you from the beginning and miss a lot of the DIY this is a great video. And it looks like we’ll be getting more like this. I could see each aquarium at the new gallery have a small video monitor for the guest to play when you are unavailable. Great video god bless and good luck in by our future.
I love a natural look of a tank more algae the better natural look 100% better colours of fish come out more in natural habit . All these coloured substrates and weird looking structures people use nowadays days I can't get on board with
This is awesome. Almost exactly what I dis with mine. I have Brichardi sharing a 150gal with Silver Arowana, 2-Blood Parrot, 7-Severum and 1 Flowerhorn. I ones had 2 Flowerhorns, but I guess he was too slow to swim away, Arowana hot him! 😜
I much prefer tanks like this .. no one is perfect and know natural habitat is flawless .. why shouldnt your tank replicate more natural enviroment... great video ... looking forward to the new venture
Wild betta persephone in a long tank, though lol (I have only angels for cichlids, and they just ate their children, I'm trying not to think about it 😄). I am trying to work up the nerve to put the kubotais in
I was sceptical of the public aquarium idea to begin with, but I'm fully on board now. This is fascinating and I'm excited to see the new ecosystems you create so perfectly and practically.
Everyone usually isn’t on board or has any idea what I’m doing until it’s done! 😂 so don’t worry, you’re not alone. With that said, stick around for another few weeks and see what is in store.
I mean ask yourself . Do you want a water dog for all intents and purposes . Or a trio of show pieces that don't do a lot and can be pretty fussy. What would suit you personally more? Also remember the flower horn will create a lot of waste you will need to stay on top of.
I still believe it’s unwise to maintain the frontosa with the lamprologus on the long term. One day it will crash. I use to keep peacefully a few frontosa with 6 cyprichromis (sardine look cichlids) that were almost the same length. Eventually the frontosas outgrew the sardines just by a little. After a couple of months it turned into a disaster, in a matter of 4 days, the frontosas ate everything☠️
i hate the fact that you are across the ocean and i am sat here in the middle of the mediterranean and i wont be able to come see your aquarium gallery when you're done setting it up. :( maybe i will have the opportunity to come meet you at some point in my life and see your dream. keep up the awesome work bro. ur awesome.
Bro u should do fancy goldfish show grade and do a series about how u groom them on how u do ur step by step process n etc and keep one gold fish of every variety I would for show watch the whole series of that
I was thinking the same when I first saw his announcement. I was thinking.. watch this guy after 10 or 15 years talking about another bigger place (like somewhere at least near the ocean.. Lol).
have you considered a night room for your public gallery? I think it would be really cool to see some cave ecosystems or nocturnal fish.
Doing a dark room type area would be super cool! That way you could view it during the day with dim lights, but the fish would (in theory??) Be active
This ⬆️

Tour with Joey through his aquarium gallery 🤔 time to book a flight to Canada
Imagine he makes a video on how to build a diy plane to fly to the aquarium gallery
Ditto
Your the one who got me into the shell dwellers and by far my favorite to keep .
OMG!!! I'm setting up my shell dweller tank right now!!! It's my first tank and this fish started my interest in the hobby. Can't wait.
What ones are you getting?
Nice to see you do what you love. Please keep showing us these things too in the future.
Could've tried the Compressiceps Sumbu Shell. They do interact together in the wild and the Sumbu even claim a shell in the colony. They may eat fry though.
Really excited to start keeping she'll dwellers again.
Frontosa are such beautiful fish. My favorite cichlids by far.
I like watching small fish like baby blue gill it’s just cool how they act and how they flare up real quick and other stuff
I just had to stop bye as a new subscriber, new fish hobbyist musician and creator. I want you to know how much I really really appreciate you production value. You not only make a great dialogue and story but brother the audio, lighting and just chill nature was awesome 👏🏿 bravo I love it !!!!
I REMEMBER THE OLD VIDEO YOURE THE MAN WHO GOT ME INTO NEOLAMPROLOGUS SIMILIS.
Yeah me too. Finally got mine to spawn as well :) I'm keeping them with zebra danios tho in a 47 gallon(180liter)
So much passion in your voice again!!! You do you Joey. Can’t wait for the gallery
I loved this video, one of my favorites so far, been watching for about 8-10 years.
I've been wanting to do a lake tanganyika biotope with frontosa shell dweller Julie's cyps and lelupis for a long time. Just started with a new 75 and been afraid to put in fronts for predation but this video has given me hope! 125 next!
Your excitement is contagious Joey. Can't wait to see what the new space will bring.
Love your tank mate ive had these little guys and they are awsome little characters thanks for your passion 👍
Amazing. Thanks for the introduction.
These fish are so cool, I had no clue about these before he got them

I would love to see more exotic fish that you don’t see very often I think that would be so cool
Bro. Awesome video. In depth on just the shell dwellers and frontoza. Like you I could stare at it for a while. Can't wait to see what you have in store at Joey's aquarium gallery.
Shell dwellers are the single fish that made me want to get into fish keeping

That video was one of my favorites and the discuss video I have sell dwellers because of you thank you
This video was refreshing. So nice to see the old Joey back to talking about the stuff he loves to do. Keep it up Joey!
I could feel the energy and the hype. Awesome Joey!!!
When its done Joey I will be taking a trip to Canada! Will be my first time outside the country and I will be very excited to meet you sir!
I love this journey you've been on. It was the original shell dwellers that led me to watching your channel in earnest. Looking forward to the new gallery! I will travel more than 3,000 miles to come see it!
Love the fronts and the Tanganyikans. Really hoping we get some in depth series on this region, in the new gallery 🙏😃
If you have the chance and want to get them, you sholud get some
Lamprologus ocellatus. these tiny hot heads are just great.
I love them!!! They´re super cool fish. But I think the smallest cichlid in the world is the Apistogrammoides pucallpaensis, with males rarely getting to 4cm (less than 2 inch), and females around 3cm (just above an inch), they´re a super cool fish to have in small planted tanks, maybe you should check them :)
i loved this tank when you made it. it's been one of my favorites of yours since

Love this tank! Can't wait to visit the new gallery!
You should do a montage on all the tanks and fish you have had in the gallery. It would be a lot of editing but it would be an epic video.
Excellent video, I love this type of videos, Enjoy watching fish.
Dude you have always been the goat of fish keeping
Cool vid, bro! Have kept shell-dwellers myself for years and can totally relate to your observations. Mighty interesting!!!
I have a 420 well mixed variety tank. Been on the ponder of making my own pond and plywood tank but I feel as if I would mess it up. Also prices aren’t too friendly right now on anything
Love hearing about the lives of the shell dwellers and their friends.
Thanks for making this video, I love my shellies......just do tell my other fish !
The OG shell dwellers tank was hands down my favorite one on this channel.
Happy 13th year of the greatest inspirational aquarium channel on yt

I love your shell dwelling world ❤️👍

This was a facinating video. Well done.
That is one of the first videos I saw on your channel, so it’s crazy to think about it being a turning point in the channel!
you know you made it when the importers ask you what fish will you keep next
I find the malawi shell dwellers to be really cool
This is the type of video I live for, more......I need more of this!!!!
What would happen if you built pockets of sand and shells up the back of the background would thay move them or use them as is
I'm pretty excited for your ne project Joey!
I much prefer tanks like this .. no one is perfect and know natural habitat is flawless .. why shouldnt your tank replicate more natural enviroment... great video ... looking forward to the new venture
Love him or hate him, he's still the King! Keep doing what you do, Joey. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.

Keep it up Joey. Informative videos are awesome.

You're kinda going to be like the Brian Barczyk of the fishkeeping world!
I cant wait to see the new gallery
I loved the video, it's so informative
Is that counted as walstad aquarium? Looks like they're able to self-sustain by themselves.
true about hunting rare fish hahaha, i my self want a shell dweller and its HARD TO GET EM!
Joey and community. I have a 150l aquarium do I get 3 Axolotls or 1 small Pearl Flowerhorn ?
#ripfrank
I mean ask yourself . Do you want a water dog for all intents and purposes . Or a trio of show pieces that don't do a lot and can be pretty fussy. What would suit you personally more? Also remember the flower horn will create a lot of waste you will need to stay on top of.
Do the shell dwellers end up with generation deformities?
Nice video friend❤️🇮🇳👍😊
Great job go for it !!!
Excited for these videos
Some alge is good for tanks and fish. It's all part of a natural ecosystem.
Joey ...please do convicts because I have some and they mate like rabbits 😂
Perfect content, thanks
I like the one tank only focus....tank by tank...30 min at a time...take it slow...more education and fun...

Are you going to sell fish, merch and other stuff in your new location?
You should!!!

So exciting man.
Happy anniversary Joey
That was my favorite tank of yours

I've been watching you for years and I don't know how many times I have heard Lake Tanga-Yeetah, doesn't even sound like real place.
It is. I’m my mind. 😂
Ohr man...this sounds awsome..!!!

Are you going to have saltwater in the gallery
Hi everybody, hi DIY

What's gonna happen to the kids n the pond?
An unexpected behavior So interesting
I cannot find any of these for the life of me in the SF Bay Area...
Bro u should do fancy goldfish show grade and do a series about how u groom them on how u do ur step by step process n etc and keep one gold fish of every variety I would for show watch the whole series of that
I really like how that tank looks. Too-ckean tanks feel anxious to me.
10 years later: how to build a entire ocean
I think he did that video on his vacation
I was thinking the same when I first saw his announcement.
I was thinking.. watch this guy after 10 or 15 years talking about another bigger place (like somewhere at least near the ocean.. Lol).
After all the work Joey has put in I don't think he would want to think about this just yet 😂
5 years before that: I’m making my own lake
Think bigger. 50 years later: How to set up your own Neptune
Lately Joey seems happier and I love it when he does what he really enjoys, that’s what is all baout
