Solutions to all of DF's Hydroneer problems: 1- Sprinkle a few more grinders on the belt,* it will reduce clogging in the tunnel.* 2- Remove the two boxes right after the refiner thing at the end of the line,* it will solve the mineral/gem clog.* 3- You can also increase the number of refiners at the end of the line, the dirt chunks will more easily be refined if there are 4 refiners right at the end of the line. *That will solve the clogging at the end of the conveyor belts* 4- The very beginning of your pipe has only one connection to the sea. *The entire system won't stop whenever a single filter or valve break if you add one or two more entrances.* 5- Widening the line to three conveyor belts instead of just one will be better at transporting and disposing of dirt, potentially eliminating clogging altogether if allied with the other measures, but this one is a bit more work because of the pipes...
also making the tunnel bigger by getting rid of the dirt, and then making a solid and flat dirt wall on the opposite side of the drills would be an additional helpful adjustment to this all
Dude that crusher-conveyor you said wasn't crushing the medium sized rocks was just set to the wrong direction, so it got stuck between it and the other conveyors.
Hey DF! On may 7th a game called scrap mechanic will be getting a survival mode, and there are many ways you could break it. It seems right up your alley. You should give it a shot!
Df: imma buy a valve so that I can turn all of this off if needed. Also Df: removes the first pipe to turn it off Edit: yes I know he started to use the valve later
Also also DF: Puts the valve literally right by the water source so he has to walk all the way out to it to turn it, instead of right before the first junction, lol.
This isn't correct. Even at bed rock you have to replace dirt. Grillmasters channel is a good example of this. Even the old hammer drills had to have dirt under the m they just didn't need the dirt to be replaced
Did they really change it? I remember that you don't have to replace dirt at the lowest point, example in Blitz's videos. Thx for telling me tho if this is true.
@@spraybleu8563 even before the update you had to have the drills slightly off the bottom with dirt under it. The new Goliath drills literally remove the dirt and don't work without minable dirt under them
Also timing them might help a little bit with jams, like turn them on one by one after it spits out the dirt and the conveyor system moves it up a little bit so they're spaced out
Hey DF, have you thought about putting one of those slanted pieces underneath the "gold funnel" instead of the boxes so stuff doesn't pile up, up there.
You can set the goliath drills on dirt in the air and never have to replace the dirt. Josh from Lets Game It Out did this and it worked perfectly he had a giant rectangle with 1 side up and the side up is open for the gold, iron ore, uncut gems, and the glowing crystals.
One way to make it run smoother is to instead of placing all your drills on one conveyer line, make multiple little "modules" with just a few drills each.
Apparently locking pipes, foundations and stuff like that in place helps a lot in reducing lag. Your items that fell underground also contributes with the lag. Oh and of course your massive pile of gold is not helping.
@@chrisencelan4021 theres a hammer in the shop that is different from the smithing hammer, thats basically the tool to lock stuff, smack it once you lock, twice you unlock. I think its called construction hammer or something
If I may offer a few tips to help make the game run smoother as well as make the entire operation easier to run and handle, try rebuilding the entire mining setup above ground. It will be slow to start, but soon after it will be providing just as much gold as before and not dealing with the cramped conditions of the caves whilst also allowing much easier access to each of the drills and pipes. As for the constant jams, try doubling the width of the conveyor belts and placing those extra grinders throughout the belt to break up the larger pieces before they're given the chance to reach full size. _(also clean up the area and sort things out, as well as clearing out the extra dirt, your frames will love you)_
DF make your conveyers one less high, it will feed directly into the harvester then, (I also think that you should get rid of the grinder if you do this because the grinder launches them a bit)
A few thoughts: . Use the tractor to dig a ramp to the bottom, and use side-by-side conveyors back up, rather than a tunnel that can clog. . The conveyor doesn't need to go that high into the air. Just go a few steps up, then have 2-3 boulder crushers as steps back down towards the grinder, so a boulder can miss one, even two, and still get ground down. . You're using boxes as a funnel system for the ore to drop into the platform. Instead, try having the ore grinder at ground level, and turn the platform into something like a bowling alley, as the grinder spits forward.
I know you don't read the comments much in terms of suggestions, but I can see the problem. You need to pull the shredder back a bit in that final line, and probably grab another mulcher. If there's a conveyor splitter, just take that mulcher back as far as you can, split the conveyors into two and then run two mulchers side by side processing the dirt after it's been split in two. You'll probably need a block wall in between them to keep the dirt from mushing back into a giant blob. The only other option is to purchase another drill and run two lines of four side by side to get that you need, as the mulchers seem to have a maximum dirt processing ability, and those seven drills exceed it even when it's at full power. Though I'd say it looks like two full power drills to one mulcher at full power, so with eight drills you'd need four mulchers at full power. At that point, I'd even go so far as to say run each pipe system separate from each other, one for each production line. Pull the lines as close as you can at one point and slap the filters there for efficient repairs on the filters. That's about the best one can do in that regards. The real shame is that it looks like there's not an automated way to feed power crystals to the pumps(they're basically pumps, right?) so no matter how fine tuned the system, it's still going to need a lot of babysitting.
dangerously funny with the grinders why they did not work, i noticed one of the grinders was facing the wrong way, the conveyor under it looked like it went backwards instead of forwards if you look at 17:01 carefully it looks like the first one is the culprit where they got stuck on that was placed wrong
Thanks for the birthday laughs mate. Kinda made me spit my whiskey a little bit. Love your humor. And I’m no expert, and this might require a bit of work that I know isn’t really your style, but why not try adding a grinder near the exit of your cavern to break down the huge clumps. It would require you to extend your total design one or two spaces but I’m willing to bet you won’t have so many jam ups.
I would probably put a roof tile slant above the hole leading down to the washer thing. This way large rocks will stay on the grinder until they are small enough.
DF, try moving the grinder back 1 spot on the belt then adding a ramp DOWNWARD towards the ...refiner? Whatever the thing that processes dirt into materials. Think it might help
You may want to consider making two rows of conveyors to give more space, while putting walls on both sides. And at the top, using 2 grinders, and under them, put more conveyors (they should help with the gold that keeps stuck there). Also spacing more each drill, and putting griding conveyors in front of the drills to prevent them from getting too big.
I still want a MUCH bigger pile of gold
