Doing good over the course of any year is a great thing and better than many Tony! Winning $3k is also reasonable, unless you're consistently betting high. I'm a special case as I have a slot channel, but what I used to do was to walk around a lot and take lots of breaks and yeah, if a machine isn't working, then move on! Why that's good is that there are those games out there that are super-volatile, and you'll get destroyed if your bet is too high and you're not really lucky.
Don't quite understand how you keep going when a machine constantly disappoints. I'd have bailed out after about the third tease - guess being stubborn can pay off.
