Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive 10 year back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po! Are any other songs in English or do they have close caption because I would love to know the lyrics and thank you for all the information because I do like them as a band I just would like to know the lyrics. thank you for the comment and the support
@@purplebutterflywithabrokenwing I think most of the songs on their channel has CC's. I think they have just done 2 songs completely in English, The Dragon Cries and Don't Let Me Down. Domination Live from the same concert ( an even better song imo) has CC's, don't know why Freedom hasn't.
@@purplebutterflywithabrokenwing Most of their songs incorporate some English words and phrases here and there, but their native Japanese predominates. Often the choruses directed towards the audience have singalong responses that have simple yet catchy phrases that are familiar in any language, like hello, hello. Their songs often, but not always. have English subtitles or one can simply google the songs to get a rough translation. The chief lyricist is Miku Kobato who plays rhythm guitar, sings backing vocals and is the founder of Band-Maid. She is a master lyricist, and her songs often have deep meanings and cover relevant topics. She skillfully is able to blend complex Japanese sentences and concepts with English idioms and phrases to enhance understanding of their songs. Their positive message is to be self-reliant, live one's own life to the fullest and strive to overcome the inevitable difficulties that one meets along life's journey.
I wish the close caption would work, so I knew what they were saying, but they totally rocked it. Regardless, the drum solo kicked butt!! thank you for the comment and the support of the channel
11 subscribers but already 28 Likes during its first hour! Adding hashtag Bandmaid is like ringing the dinner bell for us Maidiacs. Haha, nice reaction. For English sub-titles, go with Official Live "Domination" next. You will love it.
Did you notice on the left side of the stage Kanami and Miku hooting and hollering for Akane during her drum solo. How many other bands do you see cheering for each other for doing a great job???

And Freedom is the very first Band-Maid song I heard. I had seen them in my recommend videos list over on the side since my daughter had me watch a Baby Metal MV which I didn't really enjoy. I figured that Band-Maid was more of the same and ignored them for almost a year. UNTIL, one day I was loading up my various windows and I forgot to turn off autoplay because the dogs and one of the cats got into a fight in the kitchen. I got the animals taken care of, and as I came back into my room I heard this wonderful song and it's drum solo. I restarted the video and sat entranced by 5 young Japanese Ladies dressed as maid with huge smiles on their faces as they OWNED the stage. I rewatched the video I think 10 times, my smile getting bigger and bigger everytime. The next recommended song by these young Ladies was "Onset" and I clicked on it. And I was BLOWN AWAY!! Those 2 songs made me a fan of the 5 young Ladies FOR LIFE!. And now I'm a "Maidiac" and I"ve seen them live in Houston last year, and I hope and pray to seem them live many more times. Remember, if you would like to know more information about the Ladies, just leave a comment or a reply and I and others will do our best to expand your knowledge.
@@chrisegbertky Here is the rest of that particular file. I have to split it up so YT doesn't flag it and remove it. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their UA-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid.
Well a first time reaction you truly lucked out not only did you get to see the drummer ( aka gorilla) give the gorillas kiss to envoke her drum gods to show her dominance over her kit you also got a double Saiki Salute from the lead guitarist and composer kanami ( aka Mincho ) or as I like to call her Minchozilla great first time reaction to the living legends known as band maid
Welcome to the fandom! Best rock band in the world right now! ♥ I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
"Freedom" was the song that hooked me on Band-Maid. They made it look so easy, but they are really good, hard-working musicians and singers. My current favourite is their instrumental "From Now On" and earlier it was their song "Blooming". In both cases, the music video is excellent. There are so many great Band-Maid songs that saying one or two are my favourites feels unfair to the others. Really, you could just go to their official channel on UA-cam and work your way through their videos.
Sugoi! In my opinion, as a concert veteran of over 50 years, BAND-MAID isn't just an excellent all girl band. These women are the BEST rock band in the world and have been over the last 5-10 years. Only recently have they been getting the attention they deserve. The smiling faces you see in this video are only a fraction of the joy I've witnessed by them in their live shows, and it is infectious! Arigatou! 🤘🤘
Nice reaction . You will find a wealth of great music from Japan and Asia as a whole. Band Maid just happens to be at the top of mountain Saw them live and will see them again .

The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. But the Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! Thanks, MS Butterfly, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!
Band-Maid fans have posted Japanese to English translations to their songs and many MV do have Subtitles/CC. I personally like listening to the Japanese lyrics mixed with some English. But the main thing is that their music is top notch and transends any language barrier.
Please don't be too discouraged about the subtitles, the vast majority of their videos do have closed captions with English translations. Please take care and have a wonderful day!
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. They will always put a smile on your face and joy in your heart. They just finished their 10th anniversary tour with a concert, Okyuji aka serving as they call them, with 11,000 fans at Yokohama arena. In the past year they toured the US twice and Japan three times. They have well over 120 wonderful songs. Pick anything on their channel, they're all great. For something not on their channel search Lollapalooza Dice Hate? for a recent live performance in Chicago. Enjoy the journey.
A friend recommending Band-Maid is a friend indeed. Many of their other official videos do have closed captions, so do check out more! Pick any one -- or two 😊
Welcome to the Wonderful World of Band Maid. They are at the top of the heap when it comes to rock today. They have a catalogue of over 120 songs without anything mediocre. They are a band best served live. I've seen them three times here and am planning a trip to Japan to see them and some of my other favorite Japanese bands on their home turf. The music scene in the US is bereft of real talent, but the Japanese and South Korean music scenes are just on fire. Japanese female bands are keeping the flame of pure rock burning. You have a lot of songs to choose from and I'm sure you will be getting many recommendations. The live official video of "Dominati on" is usually the next step, and it makes "Freedom" seem like a nice mellow song, lol. Reacting to the live official videos is your best bet as they are best heard live. And always your captioning, because most of their videos have English subtitles. In fact,
This is a great song by what's become my favorite band in a very short time. Most of their other videos have the lyrics in English, this is one of the rare ones that doesn't. Definitely recommend checking out Blooming or Warning for some more awesome music!

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Hello I always see it I'm Japanese I worked in the music industry and was also in a band. Japan's music scene I am also very knowledgeable about overseas music scenes. Japanese music after BABYMETAL It has changed a lot came. Compared to Ado BANDMAID is not popular in Japan. In fact, when I look at the reactions of people from overseas, I get the impression that they listen to all the musical instruments in detail when it comes to music. I think there are very few people in Japan who listen that way.

Welcome from the Maidiacs. The hardest Rockin Maids on the Planet. BAND-MAID.
I wish the close caption would work, so I knew what they were saying, but they totally rocked it. Regardless, the drum solo kicked butt!! thank you for the comment and the support of the channel

Freakin' love this comment. So much good info condemsed
(Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
I’ll added your request to the list and thank you for the comment 🤘🏻❤️🎶
Arigatou! 🤘🤘
I concur whole heartedly with your opinion, as it is also mine. Band Maid is the best rock band on the planet at present, period.
Because Miku insisted on "My Way! My Way! My Way!", we now have the best live rock band on the planet.
These girls are bringing back the fun in rock 'n' roll.
Nice reaction . You will find a wealth of great music from Japan and Asia as a whole. Band Maid just happens to be at the top of mountain

Thank you for the support and they are amazing 🎶🙏🏻❤️

In fact,

Welcome to Band-Maid!
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Not a bad song, you've barely even touched the top of the iceberg and get to have the fun of discovering the 99% beneath it. I'm an old guy and have heard a LOT in my life. Right now I think Band Maid, to my ears at least, is the best rock band on the planet but the more you delve into them the more you'll discover they can play any genre. They've actually become a genre unto themselves.
