First, it isn't that easy to get a different candidate in place, and second, Trump has been convicted, but he isn't a felon. Being a felon requires that he committed a felony, but the conviction will never stand up on appeal because there was no underlying crime for which he was convicted to change the charges he was convicted for to felonies. History is full of cases where people have been convicted of crimes and subsequently found to have been wrongly convicted. This is worse than those cases because the charges are wholly politically motivated and the conviction itself so fatally flawed by the absence of a crime and unconstitutional actions by the court.

Outside of the left its been pretty much agreed that Newsome (or even Michelle Obama) was going to be put forward after August.
Won't matter. All along, Biden has polled better than any of the alternatives that anyone has mentioned. Very few people anywhere in the US other than East and West coast states and Illinois would vote for either one of them. Newsome has ruined California and the country does not want to give Obama a fourth term.

The US VP doesn't actually do much, but early on she was tasked with managing the border and she failed miserably. If Biden withdrew, she would be the logical successor (not automatic unless he was taken out by invoking the 25th Amendment) but even now Biden has a better chance of beating Trump than Harris does. She participated in the 2016 Democratic primaries and did not win a single delegate. She would lose in a landslide.

Weirdly enough, you never hear commentators like these saying who those "senior" Democrats are. I've listened to several senior Democrats and they all say things like "Chill out" or "There's no plans to replace him" not that it's actually possible.
There's this thing called primaries and delegates. In the first round of voting at the convention, the delegates are required by rules to vote for the candidate that won them. They don't have a choice of voting for someone else. Only if Biden didn't get the amount needed to win the nomination could they actually do something to replace him
