All tractors are gold plated so-to-speak, you buy a tractor and it is yours but if breaks down you have to have it hauled to the dealer who is the only one allowed access to the tractors computer software and computers have IC chips that contain gold. The software is proprietary and owner does not have access to it, thank you Bill Gates and Microsoft who led the battle to keep whats yours theirs.

If you listened closely the ranch was homesteaded by Mike's wife's mother's husband's ancestors. It was vacant land that government deeded to homesteaders after they "proved up" on it. Then it was passed to a couple generations who apparently avoided urban growth which is non-existent in Wyoming. In other western states if growth occurs then water rights disappear. Denver has water rights all over Colorado that once belonged to farms and ranches. Now aqueducts send water hundreds of miles to reservoirs around Denver.Much of Colorado is high desert plains which requires 20 plus acres to keep one head of cattle grazing providing weather remains perfect year in and year out. Ranches are being regulated out of existence and millionaires such as Ted Turner buy up huge chunks and lease portions out to outfitters for hunting. A 5 day elk hunt can run $5000.00 or more cheap hunts may be $3000.00.
Young people are clueless about what is happening with the land in the state and only need trails to backpack on in a National Forest. Trails! !

    • @cravinbob
      @cravinbob 4 роки тому +2

Consider that a cattle ranchers income is the cattle. How much of your money do you leave out in a pasture?
He did mislead with his "first generation rancher" comment. Only a millionaire can start a ranch from scratch. Ranches are passed down over the years and started out as homesteads, the land was free as long as you kept it thriving but over time things change.
I recommend you read a book called The Last Ranch. True story and quite eye-opening.
And do you know where your beef comes from? Have you ever purchased a swinging side of beef? Most "ranchers" today do not know what "swinging side" means and try to sell you a processed package of frozen beef with who-knows-what cuts are included and how much weight is involved compared to the on the hoof and hanging weight a side would net. Trying to buy a side will get you meeting guys who have a half dozen steers each year, maybe, to sell and a website that takes a credit card and will inform where to go to pick up the box of beef.
Also the tinhorn in the video said he feeds his cows... "cows" are females that have birthed calves. He only feeds cows so he will run out out of beef to sell soon and his bull his starving. He will have no heifers to grow into breeders or castrated little bulls called steers to sell and eat if he doesn't feed 'em!

What I think truly sets you above the bar is how you took the time to debunk some guys myth about something he has not a clue about - yet you didn't name the person or bash their character; You simply stated facts vs. BULLSHIRT ( ;-) ) and kept it all 1st Class. Bravo, Mike! Been with you now for nearly 2 years and am amazed at how interesting your ranch life is and how I look forward to watching yours and Erin's videos and my goodness, how your children are growing! Are they getting into your fertilizer!?!!

At last a Truth full video on what bloggers make. I make farming videos here in Ireland 🇮🇪 and There’s a myth is that we make a fortune out of it. Truth is for the hours that’s put in. It really pays very little and yet some begrudge us getting the small amount of revenue we do get. Your really need to like making videos and telling your story. Well done on the channel and keep up the great videos 👍

    What I want to know...
You watch an ad, it's over, the screen turns grey, there's a little 10 second timer in the bottom left corner.
If you click skip at this point does the channel still get credit for you viewing the ad?

Well said. Don’t let them get your spirits down! Unfortunately what you hear most is going to be negative, but a large number of us already know the truth and don’t feel it’s our place to comment. And moreover if you were making $30k a month I’d be happy for you because your good people and do good things. And I hope you blow $30k a month out of the water some day! Good luck to you.

Your financial business is your private matter. I wish for yours and Erin's mental health you could ignore or put blinders on regarding the trolls. You could disable comments. No other viewer cares about my opinions on things--and actually, I don't care about the opinions of other viewers. Maybe one of your moderators would take on the task of going through them before they are posted. You guys are great people. Please try to focus on your fans and let the others fall to the wayside. And may you make that 200K someday!!

You have helpfully taught many people "How to make a UA-cam" video, along with all the ways to improve a video too. I have sent the link to your channel to several who wanted to make a UA-cam video or were struggling with their channel. All our subscribers now and reference you. Your background was great networking for viewers.

Some people have nothing better to do but stick their noses where is doesn’t belong. Keep up the videos. I look forward to them every week. Ranching is hard enough and 99% of ranchers do something else to make extra money on the side. Most people don’t understand that ranching is most of the time a break even operation if you paid yourself a wage. And why not. It is a hard job. So don’t worry about what other people say. They will never understand. The people that watch every week. We understand and like your channel. I personally like that no matter what you are going through you tell it like it is. The truth. It is refreshing. Keep it up. I’m with you.

Hello Mike. I am sorry there are idiots out here that put out stupid crap they don’t understand. Frankly this is an IQ issue and I have found that unfortunately there are many people going through life that sat in the back row at school and they never did any different in life. You didn’t discuss how much you folks make off of UA-cam when people like me subscribe to it. I pay a flat fee so I don’t get commercials. And no, I don’t know how you would figure your cut. I am just curious. Keep up the good work.

  • @Troche571

I'm going to cut this one short as I feel that while I have good friends who are creators, one with 10m subs, one with almost 300k subs but his views on his last video hit 8.5m it's just none of my business on how much you or anyone makes on UA-cam. As a fan of the channel I clicked that Subscriber Button and Rang that bell because its clean content, down to Earth and you remind me about my love for animals and that childhood dream of owning my own ranch.
Hate mail, that's so dam sad that people have nothing better to do with their lives than to troll and try to extend a part of their own miserable lives on others.
Keep up the great work, I'll always support you guys/gals, and when you hit 1m subs, with 1B views you can send that creator a ticket to the Ranch on us... then drive him to the farthest corner of the ranch.and let him walk back.

Remember folks, 99 percent of your friends and family that act like they have money, just remember they are great actors. Embarrassed to be broke. Embarrassed that they won't be taken seriously unless they have money. People really are great actors when it comes to money.

Ahhh, the life of a Wyoming rancher. Or as my great-uncle Bud used to call it, the hardest minimum wage job you'll ever have. Good luck, though. Looks like you're doing things right. It's a tough life, my family gave up by the early 80s. 100 years out on the range was enough, I suppose. Glad to be out of Wyoming honestly. Ceaseless wind, 12 ft snowdrifts that appear overnight, freezing temperatures in September, you can have it all. Takes a special person.
