In my imagination, Sam would be an absolutely amazing lesbian. I honestly think it would suit her character. Not only in appearance, but also in character. And in my opinion, Janet was more than just a friend to Sam ;-) If I remember one interview, Amanda Tapping also mentions that she is close to bisexual orientation. Very close.
