- (Brunswick) Recorded 07-01-1926. (Music: Ernest R. Ball / Lyrics: Paul Cunningham) Very Rare Songs. It should be a "Fallout video game" song.
Not a great deal is known about Frank Munn.
He was a popular radio singer in the 1920s until the 1940s and recorded on Brunswick, Columbia and Victor with several bands, sometimes using the name Paul Oliver.
He was known as "The Golden Voice of Radio."
Frank Munn was born to a working class family in 1894. Growing up in New York, young Frank was blessed with a fine voice and sang at live concerts and on local radio. By the early 1920's he also began making phonograph records to assist his income as a laborer. In 1928 Munn was offered a lucrative spot on 'The Palmolive Hour' a network radio show sponsored by the popular soap-maker - making radio his exclusive career. He soon became the star of two other network shows; 'The American Album of Familiar Music' and 'Waltz Time' both of which entertained the public throughout the Great Depression and World War II, making him one of the favorite tenors on radio until his retirement in 1945.

Lyrics:
Today for the first time you told me
What I've been longing to hear
Today for the first time you kissed me
At last I know You're sincere
I know not, nor care what tomorrow may bring
Today love is king and that's everything
Let me be by your side, let me see you satisfied
Then what do I care for tomorrow
Let me steal a kiss from you, let me feel you love me too
Then what do I care for tomorrow
Let me crowd our lifetime in just this one day
A lifetime of love, then I'll gladly say
Let the end of the world come tomorrow
As long as you love me today
Let me be by your side, let me see you satisfied
Then what do I care for tomorrow
Let me steal a kiss from you
Let me feel you love me too
Then what do we care for tomorrow
Let me crowd our lifetime in just this one day
A lifetime of love, then I'll gladly say
Let the end of the world come tomorrow
As long as you love me today
Lovely!
Thanks, warholsoup dear, for your dedication. I was thinking about the lyrics and they were right there when I finished reading the very interesting information and also thinking what could be the title. Really I did not see it until reading the comments. There are two dates for his deaths-never meant to criticize-but anyhow he died rather young even for those times. Now, the lyrics seem to be right for these days as they were for the people of the twenties. Those composers were a great match and you do work hard, which we appreciate so much. You know how to choose a song. Many blessings and have a great day you all!!! March 23/2020.
During these strange days, these are words of wisdom
Gloom and doom

What a gorgeous song, though not at all depressing as the title could suggest!!!!
