  • After a serious accident at work, professional diver Šime returned to his home village in Croatia to become a fisherman. With the Adriatic Sea almost exhausted by intensive fishing, he set up the first fishing cooperative in the region. Andjela worked hard for years in the tourism sector in Montenegro. After experiencing burnout, she left her stressful job and founded a women's retreat.

Arte! Why do you have a problem with basic geography? Croatia and Montenegro are part of a geographical region called Southeastern Europe.

I mean every single summer in the hottest parts of Croatia and Montenegro it's as hot as in the hottest parts of Italy or many other places in southern Europe and yet here we are, cooling our asses with an AC in 35C - 40C (or more) every single summer, with damn palm trees in our coastal Adriatic cities, yet we are somehow "eastern" Europe. With our climate and nature that looks like California. Greets from Montenegro.

Thank you for this great documentary work! I love how you interweave the big histories of nations with the small histories of common people! It almost brings you to tears to think of the hardships that these characters' ancestors and they themselves had to go through to become who they are now!

Croatia aint eastern European country..Croatia is a mediterian central European country which never belonged to be part of opancarska jugoslavija criminal state. Small minded people love jugoslavija but luckily they will never ever have their own country.

Croatia is indeed Southern European country and it should be proud of its history and you should be also my insecure friend. Croatia ONLY exists today because of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and Socialist Tito's Yugoslavia. You WOULD NOT have nearly as much as territory as you have today and you would not have more than half od the coastline that you have today if it wasn't for King Alexander Karadjordjevic and Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Simple as that. You would've been swallowed and devoured by Italy and Hungary, rest by Austria. You don't have show gratitude but show respect to history, DON'T DENY history my insecure friend. It was King Alexandar Karadjordjevic of Yugoslavia that made it possible for you to exist today and to have a country!

@@CarmineLupertazziJr-z3b such a loads of bullshit i havent read, or heard in my entire life. Croatians have had their own kingdom and state back in 870 AC. Pope Ivan XVIII gave independence to Croatian people and their duke Branimir. Zivio rodjak

@@AnteNDH1 Me too. It seems they think the same about Slovenians. Forefathers of Slovenians, the Carantanians formed the first Slavic state in 7. century. Croatia shortly followed with the Duchy of Croatia. The principality of Serbia was formed 780.
I also don't understand their enthusiasm for the Karađorđević's, who were nothing else than murdering crooks supported by Russia. We can say if it weren't for Russia, Serbia would still be Turkey. But Slovenia and Croatia have their own stories. Let them live in their historical fantasies, they have almost nothing left.

The coast of Montenegro is actually occupied Croatian territory given to Montenegro by the dictator Tito. Croatia has every right to claim its occupied territories back, this will take time but it will inevitally and eventually happen.
