No need to spear thru the octopus. If u sharpen ur spear to fine point all u need to do is lightly poke at it in hawaii we call it tickling it out lol. They are highly sensitive n will slide out their hole to avoid the sharp point and at that time u jus snatch it up n straight into a dive bag . U will see that its much more quik n efficient. We also bite the brain to subdue it but here in Hawaii we like to keep it alive n fresh as long as possible...good grounds for octopus there ...Great dive my friend

Growing up with my grandpa’s brother teaching us how to hunt octopus he also taught us that taking out the octopus guts and putting it back to their holes will filled the hole with another octopus when u going out again and yes it works every since he taught us I’ve been doing whenever I go out to spear fishing and I’m enjoying watching this pretty lit video keep uploading your video I’ll love to watch them

What does octopus taste like
Just like any other mollusks, it tastes good when cooked with good ingredients, but the tastier part of it is the base of its tentacles, it carries a different taste than any other parts. Compare it to a giant squid, the disparity isn't that far, it almost has the same taste.
