I work in a store (can't say where), and I work in the electronics department. Well, we got in a lot of boxes of a certain wave of Skylanders Trap Team trapmaster figures. I opened the first box and found a clear Tuff Luck. Cool, didn't think much of it. Opened the second box, and another clear Tuff Luck. Next box, another one. Next, another. Then, I opened one without, then two more with them. I was dumbfounded since it is extremely rare for any store to get a Skylanders "chaser." You usually see 1 to 2 per game per store. To find 6 in 6 out of 8 boxes was weird. I think Activision probably made a mistake and meant to distribute these to different warehouses for different retailers (Wal-Mart, Target, Gamestop, Toys R Us, Best Buy, etc). So, I can see how it could happen to where a store receives identical boxes by error. We made jokes at the store that I should have played the lottery that day. We had one employee buy one for her son, the rest I hid among the regular Skylander Trap Masters. I have no interest in these Skylanders at all, but I've had incredible luck finding the chasers. Wish I could have luck finding chasers in things I care about.
I'm a Funko fan and a employee of GameStop. I'm a bit hurt at not just your thoughts but by so many about this. When we got our shipment we saw the flaw of the box and didn't use this for our gain. We did look inside so we could make sure that the were evenly distributed. However as we were taking inventory we noticed we got 85% Blackest Night Superman no Batgirls One Gold a few Batman like under ten and two Power armor. So yeah we looked but that was to ensure fans like ourselves got that even chance of receiving a figure. I'm sick of hearing the blame on GameStop. Yes some jerks here took the only Gold ones they got but GameStop is addressing that.
+Hayley Seymour Yeah thats why we werent quick to judge gamestop employees. Sure some took the golds etc. but for the most part the actual ratios of the characters being shipped in were main issue. :(
***** I'm glad y'all understand. There has been a lot of hate towards us saying we caused it. That really hurts because as a Funko fan and GameStop employee I really care.
+Hayley Seymour I get what you're saying. And I don't think all Gamestop employee's should be to blame. One of the guys at my local Gamestop admitted that they looked in all the boxes and the manager "got lucky" and got the golden claptrap. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. =[
I totally agree with this. I had gone to GameStop on Friday morning with a few friends and when we got into the car to open up the boxes, I got 3 Supermans, other friend got 2 Supermans, and the other got 1. So that is somewhat stating that the numbers were a little off. Not only were the numbers off but when we asked if there was any other people that came in for these boxes, the employees said we were the first and that a couple employees were holding boxes out back before the store opened. That clearly shows that they looked through the boxes before distributing them to the customers. I think they need a new idea for next year. Great video guys! :)
I bought 3 boxes.. only to get 3 Batgirls and 2 mini Annas. I was pissed and tried to return it, but I'm never buying this BS ever again. Thumbs down to Gamestop
You got it guy. I worked there, this is exactly what happened. the numbers could've been off though, because our store only got one gold, but you bet your ass an employee knew which it was and it was set aside before they were even sold.
On black friday we were first in line at our small local Gamestop. The employees at this store are older and not really funko fans. They had all their boxes behind the counter. We bought three and got Gold Batman, Gold Batgirl, and Regular Power Armor. We have since bought 5 boxes after black friday at various Gamestops. None of the boxes looked as pristine and all appeared tampered with. Out of the 5 boxes we have 4 claptraps. The employees at the other Gamestops were cheerypicking for sure.
I got a Thor Funkopop figure, a Greninja amiibo, and reserved a copy of Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3DS. Glad that I didn't get a mystery 20 dollars box!
I think people are forgetting that it's a mystery box and that it's a gamble. Granted Funko released the "odds" of getting particular pops but it's still a gamble. My store got 80 boxes. Me and a buddy bought 5 boxes. They were all supermans but one gold. It is what it is. Could Funko have distributed better maybe but it's still a mystery. I don't see people causing a big uproar when they buy 2 or 3 Star Wars boxes and getting mad that they got the same pops instead of getting the number 90 tie fighter. I think when something like this happens there is no real winner. There is enough blame to go around for all parties. Just my 2 cents. Love the videos!!
Hey, my husband just pointed out to me that you quoted me in this video! Cool. :) I SHOULD clarify that out of the 15 boxes I bought, there were 9 Superman Pops and 5 Power Armor Pops, with the one extra one being Batman. I see a lot of people arguing statistic possibilities and the like, and I'm not going to get into whether it's "possible" or not, but if the boxes had been properly distributed this definitely should not have happened. I see one person commented that several stores in Vancouver all got nothing but Batman Pops. Things like that prove that the system failed because even if you argue about the statistics of it all, the fair way to present such a promotion is to have equal percentages of each Pop sent to each store. If it's supposed to be a 1 in 5 chance and any particular store got 50 boxes, that means that there SHOULD be 10 of each and thus every customer who goes into the store gets a 1 in 5 chance of getting any particular Pop. Anyway, that's what I think, because the way this was presented lots of people had a 0% chance of getting any Pop other than the particular one that their local store got metric tons of. That's not the way a randomized box is supposed to play out. But that's just my opinion. :P
Dang, I thought I had shitty luck when I got 4 Clap Traps(the guy ahead of us got 3 Clap Traps). BUT TWELVE!? We were lucky and we went back the next day and got a Gold Superman and a regular Power Armor.
Yeah I agree. If you watched our video unboxings i think our boxes were ok. A couple seals were pretty weak. I think they definitely should've sealed them better & shrink wrapped them. Hopefully GameStop learns from this & improve for the future.
I blame Funko. Obviously the people would take advantage of the ability to see inside the box w/o damaging it in the least. The guy at GameStop helped me get a Gold Claptrap, and while I am happy I got it, I would have rather them been sealed. I guess what I am saying is what I agree with you.
You know.. this is probably an unpopular opinion on this channel. But if you spend all that money on a MYSTERY box and you don't get what you are wanting, you shouldn't complain. You took a gamble and lost. "Statistically this and that" is fine, but it's still random. If one store had an exorbitant amount of Claptraps, another might have had a lot of Power Armors. You can flip a coin and get heads 100 times in a row. This really takes me back to when I was a little kid, collecting "Flippos", little discs that came in bags of chips. When I got doubles, I would trade with my friends. Which is I think exactly what Funko intended with this. Remember, they are a business that's in it to make money. Not to make sure everybody gets what they want with as little purchases as possible. They want to maximize purchases. To me it seems that in modern day people seem to have lost touch with the excitement of collecting things that are truly hard (or rather, harder) to get and you can't just throw money at it to get what you want. Either way, my local gamestop had the boxes behind the counters. My wife knows the manager and some of the employees and they encouraged people to open the boxes in the store. While I was there I saw 2 people open a gold figure, the rest seemed pretty evenly distributed. No boxes with cracked seals either. I got my Power Armor figure, the only one I was rooting for. Would have been nice to get a gold one for the novelty, but I think they're pretty ugly anyway lol.
+gazeebo88 Yeah i can agree with you. The main issue is the way it was advertised, the history of mystery funkos and the variables that existed in this sale. 1 in 5 chance should be just that. When stores sell Mystery Minis for instance they have a box with every figure in it minus the chases which show up ever 3 or four boxes. When you purchase from a single box you expect to get no more than 2, maybe 3 duplicates. This is how all mystery figure companies do things. Kidrobot, funko and loyal subjects. This is how this should have been treated. To send a store 20 boxes that include 13 claptraps is disingenuous. This did happen by the way and much worse. I have seen proof from GS employees. Then to add to the problem, having a box anyone could get in to was a bad idea. Its new territory sure, but comparing Flippos to a 20 dollar box is not really in the same model. The gold pops can be looked at the rare, impossible to find card or flippo but certainly not the regular exclusive pop. If these were 6 dollar mystery minis you could understand but a $20 box should have been handled a little more responsibly by Funko. Obviously results have varied though. We didnt do too bad personally but the amount of issues that have been made aware to us had to be addressed.
Good video! I didn't have any issues whatsoever but I've seen a ton of people calling BS on this. I bought 5 boxes and got 4 different POPs, so I can't complain but the blame has to be on FUNKO. They should've had these boxes completely sealed and each shipment sent to individual GameStop's should've had an even mixture of ALL the POP possibilities.
I'm with you on this got 2 and was only allowed to buy two without getting back in line but I got 2 different pops and I got a gold so didn't have a problem with this.
I bought 25 from a Gamestop and got pissed after the fact when a friends friend worked at the one I bought from and he got 6 golds lucky I didn't get a ton of damn Claptraps now the gamestop here is stuck with about 36 boxes still as of today
I feel like it depended on the gamestop. I got Blackest night supes, Michael keaton Batman, and a Gold claptrap. All I wanted was at least a superman and a claptrap and maybe golds of any figure. So on the pop front I really thought I got a good deal. But the insides had all the exact same stuff. Same pin. Same mini pop. Same reaction figures, and the only reaction figures I wouldn't have thrown away would be the alien ones but i got fifth element ones instead.
I had no issues with the 2 I bought. I also work at Gamestop and did not peak into the boxes. I think its more based on a persons character. I did get a Gold Claptrapbut I also got a regular Batgirl. At my Gamestop store we kept them behind the counter and let customers pick which box they wanted. I picked mine based on weight, i wanted the heavy ones. lol , i even went up to a customer with 2 boxes and they only wanted one and let them pick which box they wanted. I would blame Funko for shipping them out in not a wide variety. But people checking the boxes and taken the "better" ones that also because of crappy people.
At my game stop the boxes I got had the funko sticker sealing the front and a clear seal on both opposite sides sealing that. But they were kept behind the counter.
This is definitely about people who don't know have the full information. First I worked for G.S for the holiday season and I can clear a bunch of the stuff you had issues with. 1) The boxes were all supposed to be behind counters so first thing the stores that had them out and about were in the wrong according to plan for B.F. 2) These boxes came to each store very randomized in our store we only had a few Gold but nowhere near the "Statistics" you were going off. Hell if I was to say what came in our store were mostly Superman and Batgirl. The only people who touched the boxes in our store were the manager, myself and one other who prepped for B.F the night before. 3) The sale was limited to 2 boxes per person that was a company wide email. So those that bought more than that went against policy for the sale or said customers kept going in and out that day picking up one or two at a time. 4) These are a subscription box service GameStop has for the past year or so and this was their first holiday doing it towards the public. 5) People start to think that they are getting "ripped off" on account they are not getting what they want but never bother to ask anyone what the true situation is. Everyone tends to cry oh I didn't get so and so in that case, I must have been ripped off. Keep in mind no one tells you to buy anything and if you feel you wasted your money then that is on you and not the place of business you made your purchase. 6) A lot of the boxes came to us with the round sticker already loose let alone could not be holding down the top. This is just a packaging issue with not enough adhesive on the sticker to maintain the box. We only got our initial boxes for said day but then throughout the rest of the holiday season we would get a few more. I bought my box after all the customers were taken care of as I had my random box set aside no different than the average customer. The whole point was to be excited in what you got which I was and that is without "Peeking". So hope this answers your "issues" but to be quick to say you were ripped off.
Yeah I agree. They had about 10 behind the counter. My dad, boyfriend, and I bought 5 of them, of them we got 2 Batmans and 3 Batgirls. :/ we went to a different one and bought one more and got superman. Later on, we stopped by to pick up the vault boy vinyl figure from a different one. The guy that works there knows us and is a pop collector. He said he got a gold batman and all he was concerned about was how much it was selling for. Total bummer. My friend bought a bunch and asked the employees and they looked and gave her one with a gold pop. It just depends where you went. The 2 we got some from didn't seem like they were tampered with luckily but we heard of plenty of horror stories. Thanks for sharing guys! You two have a lot of influence in the community. I'm sure funko will see this and learn from it (hopefully).
i bought a total of 8 boxes, no gold. i got 2 - Batman 3 - Batgirl 1 - Superman 2 - Power armor love the channel, My bf and I watch your videos all the time. The customs are amazing!!
hey guys, love your videos. Just wanted to touch base and comment, there are some locations of GameStop that are not honest with their customers and they do try to take advantage of that. But as a faithful customer of a Gamestop that is nearby my place of residence, I know the manager very well and I know that they would never do such a thing. I ended up buying 9 boxes, out of the 9 boxes I got 4 of 5 characters. No I did sneak a peek to see what the characters were because some of these were being given to my son as a Christmas gift and I did not want him to open up the same one over and over again. So out of curiosity I took the replicas that I knew where the same and open them up just to see some of the other things that were inside. To my surprise, I ended up getting to gold figures. now in some cases they might ask the customer to pick the boxes between 7 and 8 boxes that might be displayed on the counter, that would not technically be their fault as well. Sometimes the customer might just have a stroke of bad luck. Anyways, look forward to seeing more of your videos
For the GameStops out here in Hawaii they had them behind the counter and it had seals on the side of the box as well so you couldn't just lift up the side of the flaps, idk if this was just out here or if it was the same in some stores back in the mainland
I got two normal Power Armors and one Gold Batgirl. I didn't have any big issues. But I have heard a lot of people got the same figures over and over and over. A shame it went so poorly. Great video guys, I'm a new subscriber for your POP videos. Keep it up!
I'm kind of glad I missed out on these. After seeing all the backlash, I do hope that those that want to buy future GameStop mystery boxes will have a better time next time. I hope they learn from this. I do not think I would attempt to buy a mystery box unless I like to love all of the potential mystery figures.
Picked up six of this years boxes with a lot of the same problem. This time they were shrieked wrapped so you couldn't peek in but they all had the same pops.
my boyfriend and I went out and got lucky getting a gold Batgirl. we went back because we wanted to also try and get a Superman or another gold and told the employee our luck. They responded, "I know". They clearly knew which box had the golds and which one but I appreciate that they didn't take advantage at our location. I do agree Funko needs to shrink-wrap the boxes next year if they do something like this again and make sure that all stores at least don't get stuck with all of the same Pop figures (even though the ratio still won't be correct in each specific area).
Hey Guys... Thanks for all of the great Pop videos. You've quickly become one of my favorite channels. Quick question: Have you picked up any of the Stan Lee pops ? As a lifelong Marvel fan, I think I need to add one to my collection, and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Keep up the fantastic work!
My experience: My store (in a small town) had 16 boxes, they were behind the counter, and you could only buy 2 per person. I was the first in line and got the gold power armor. However, the sticker seals were faulty, mine was like already lifted off of the box, I don't think anyone peaked because I watch them put the boxes out of the cases, but the sticker itself just didn't stick well to the black cardboard. My store was legit, but with anything like this, there are people who take advantage (peeking, buying everything ect.) Another store 10mins away sold all of the boxes to the first in line and he got like 6 golds which yes is supposed to be statistically impossible so I guess they did mess up the ratio. They sold it as if it's 16 per store there would be only 2 gold in that store but I guess they made 1 in 8 gold but then packed them up randomly and shipped them off to anywhere without paying attention to what went where. This is like the target nuka colas all over again, managers kept them, people bought all of them and they ended up on ebay. I just got lucky enough to get exactly what I wanted. Either way $20 for all those figures with the pop being an exclusive was a good deal. Technically no one should have ended up with 12 of one kind because you should have only been able to buy 2 boxes lol
I am so glad I did not go deep on The Mystery Box. I bought two. One had a resealed seal. Did not realize the boxes did not have side flaps. I'm sure most of them were checked by staff before Black Friday. Sucks.
I contacted Gamestop corporate today. This entire release was absurd, a money grab and a big middle finger to all collectors. Dishonest employees mixed with Funko not sealing the boxes made this release a mess. I bought 12 boxes, and almost half were Claptraps. The others had damaged pop boxes and unwanted reaction figures that were rattling around. Gamestop has lost my business forever. I already returned two PS4 games and my dollars will go to Best Buy this holiday season. Remember everyone, you vote with your money.
I got a sealed case of 4 at Gamestop at 5 am, and all 4 of the boxes had entirely the same items. All 4 had batmans and all of the other items were completely identical.
I Personally work at a Gamestop we kept ours behind the counter but from what i was told by my co workers the funko boxes that were the same were shipped in the same palletes this wasnt found out until some of us bought the boxes.....now there were no instructions informing us to randomize or mix up the boxes so there factory packing was at fault.
+Zipperboy that is what i feel is the main problem. They must have all came in stack of the same pops and gs employees were sure what to do or what was in them so they just put them on the shelves unknowingly giving people the same pops
its the employees. They are known to tamper with boxes and some ex employees even admitted to it. They take away preorder bonuses and keep them for themselves. Even the "new" games they are allowed to take them home and play them. Gamestop is shady.
I worked our black Friday. We sold ours on a first come basis and didn't set a limit. One girl bought seven boxes and got 5 gold figures. 3 power armor, a batman, and a batgirl. Another guy bought 17 boxes and only got a gold power armor. The store closest to us was pretty sure they didn't sell a gold at all considering most customers opened them there.
We bought 5 total. Only got one double but bought from three different locations. And in fact in one store lots of seals were broken. We were told at one store that they were shipped poorly and lots of the stickers had to be reapplied. The store we found the broken seals at were clearly "lifted" on the pop side. Overall we weren't too disappointed with what we got.
Posted this video in my Facebook group "Funko Show N'Tell", were having a big discussion about it and I suspect you'll gain a few new subscriptions from our members. I personally bought 5 boxes and got 2 Batmen, 2 Supermen and a Claptrap.
I went to two different stores and bought three at one and got two Power Armors and one Superman and then two at the second store and got a Power Armor and Gold Batman. Both stores had them behind the counter. All I wanted was Claptrap and especially Gold Claptrap but I was OK with getting at least one Power Armor and I am certainly not complaining about getting Gold Batman. I made a video on my channel and ended up trading a Power Armor for Claptrap. I agree that the other stuff in the box was to clear out inventory. The Reactions do nothing for me.
I got golden claptrap after telling the employees that I'm not getting duplicates 3 - 4 times and the employees were kind to open the boxes until I got a different one
I saw a Gold Power Armor on ebay on November 24th! Didn't really think anything of it until I read that Game Stop employees were the ones that put the boxes together!
The Gamestop employee that rang me up peeked inside the box before charging me :/ She said, "Oh, you got Batman." Well, thanks for ruining the surprise.
Boxes came to gamestop unsealed. This was online as they shipped. The packaging seals sucked and we're coming unstuck. This allowed for easy tampering. I do believe the gold distribution was messed up too. Some people bought tons and got zero.. Some bought tons and got all gold.
Great subject. I wanted the power armor. Went to the first store and bought 2 boxes. Got power armor and bat girl. Went to another store and the sides were actually taped. Ended up getting 2 gold batgirls. Not a fan of the other items.
+Nerd Therapy Yea i was surprised, i actually picked the boxes from the middle, i ended up with 2 gold batgirl's but traded one for the blackest night batman. also was looking forward to the gold power armored pop but no luck!
There are a bunch of boxes that got shipped to the UK from online orders off the gamestop website, im in a funko group in the UK and at least 20 of us ordered boxes, ALL OF THEM WERE BATMAN
I only stuck with 2 boxes and got a Blackest Night Superman and a Claptrap. Mostly wanted to get a regular Power Armor, wasn't even wanting gold. I think maybe next year if they do this, I'll just not participate and pick them up online from people trying to get rid of extras.
That is true...Game Stop is still one of the newbies in the Funko exclusives and specials game. I am kinda glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon for this event. If they do this again I am curious what the exclusives will be...because the ones this year were nothing special to me.
the pop inside my box was switched with a bill compton Pop! opened it inside gamestop. manager insisted it was not tampered. manager insisted it wasnt guaranteed ill get exclusives. you guys are lucky.
I bought 3 and got 3 different pops. I got the superman, power armor, and claptrap. A buddy got a Gold Bat-girl from a different store. They had a huge wall behind the counter of them asked what specific one I wanted and even if I wanted a different one from back. To my eyes the box didn't look tampered but, I could be wrong. The thing about stores like gamestop, hot topic, etc. Is that if even one single employee knows about collecting no chase editions will ever make it on the shelf. Who wouldn't buy something for 10 bucks they could instantly resell for many many times more?
I bought mine the day after and my GameStop in Brooklyn still had 29 boxes at 6pm on Saturday. I don't feel ripped off, especially because I really liked the ReAction figures.
Our Gamestop only got 20 boxes in and I got three. All three were Batgirl :/ I was happy to get her but I really wanted a Superman and a Claptrap (any of the gold ones as well). I think I would do this again if they changed up the process a bit.
between myself and 2 of my friends we bought 10 boxes total. we all got 5 batmans, 2 supermans, 1 claptrap, 1 batgirl, and 1 super armor (which I got that was gold)... 5 batmans though?!? 50% of our boxes and they had 80 boxes
Ughh, although I got 3 out of the 5 characters from the 5 boxes I purchased, I'm, still disappointed. I got to Gamestop at 5:30 or so in the morning, nobody in line, but a few guys just browsing around. I decide to pick up 3 boxes and I saw all the employees behind the counter along with the stack of boxes behind them. They picked out 3 and once I got home, they were the last thing I opened after messing around with other stuff I bought. And once I opened them, my excitement just went down and down. First getting a Claptrap for a game I don't really care for, then to see a GOLD Power Armor. Now not bad, but I also don't care for Fallout 4 either. And to open my last box and get another GOLD Power Armor.. some people may have been happy with getting two of them being GOLD but I'm just not a fan. So after being disappointed with what I got, I ran back out to my car and drove to another Gamestop just a few minutes away from the other. I pick up 2 this time and the lady even asks me which ones I would like. So I got to choose which ones I wanted. So when I get home and open these two boxes to find 2 Batgirls.... I was in shock. I almost wanted to go back and get one more but I was done. If they decide to do this again, they have to think of a much better way to go about it. I don't like pre-ordering pops from them either. The release dates they have for them are so wrong and I have to wait for them to call and let me know when they're actually in the store. When I just walk to Hot Topic or FYE and see the pops I ordered right in front of me. I just feel like I wasted my money on 5 boxes to not really be happy with what I got overall.
I agree that the box should have flaps and a better sticker to prevent anyone from peeking inside. I just ordered a Mystery Box from the Gamestop app. Even if I don't get a gold Chase Pop! I think I'll be happy with whatever I get. There is a lot of fun stuff for $20.
Here's my experience... I only bought 3 and got 2 Fallouts & 1 claptrap. I could tell that employees tampered with them. Also we saw them looking in the boxes before the store opened and putting the ones they wanted in the back room. One of my boxes had 2 damaged/opened reaction figures. Manager would not return them. I emailed the website and they finally wrote back to me asking for receipt info which I had already provided on the website. People were upset in my area.
as in most collectibles numbers are based on production. im pretty sure when they were set to ship odds got mixed up.. i went to 3 different game stops here in the Fort Lauderdale areas and all the boxes didnt seem to be tampered with. and all were held behind the counter. shame on those stores that just left them out in the middle of the floor... also i know of at least 2 stores that still have these boxes on hand
I got two Gold Supermans so I guess I did really good considering all this... The rest of my box was different too! Went to the San Ysidro Outlet and they kept their boxes in the back locked up.
I actually wanted the Claptrap but pulled 3 Supermans instead. I absolutely would have loved to trade but no one was at my GameStop. I expected there to only be a few left because I got there so late, but it turned out they didn't sell. Also, I hope the boxes don't become more common. That ruins the value!
i asked them about the broken seals they told me that, at least here in canada, they said the glue on the seal melted cuz of the heat during transit.. i bought 4 boxes originally for the record and got 2 batman 2 batgirl. was really annoyed.
The game stop that me and my brother went to, had all the boxes on the floor in a corner, luckily we only got on for him and one for me and ended up getting superman and golden batgirl.
I know from my friend is working at GameStop that on his store all the employees were checking the boxes before sell it. In fact, he separe the claptrap boxes and sell it only to "no nice customers" or "ugly people" for fun .. Horrible but a fact.
Someone bought almost all of the boxes at my stores, took them home and looked in the flaps and returned the non Gold figures. They have a large amount of Gold figures on their ebay site.
My gamestop had all the boxes behind the counter so I was happy about that. But idk about duplicates because I only got 1 box and a Superman was in it.
I honestly didn't even know that you could get golds when I bought it, I just wanted cool pop I ended up getting a gold superman so I thought the chance of getting a gold was fair but I've mostly heard of people getting supermen. But then again most mystery boxes have certain characters that are just more common then others so that might've been what they did.
Picked up five boxes from GameStop for my son to give him throughout the year, he gets jealous of the subscription boxes I get in the mail. Opened them to see if there were duplicates. They were all duplicates!!! Four boxes were Batgirl, one was Claptrap. Ended up buying additional pops from target to substitute the duplicates. Kept one Batgirl for myself. Left one in his box and ebayed 2 of them for $23 each.
The thing that bugged me was that the pops came crushed. I knew I was likely to get doubles and I was fine with that. But getting crushed pops isn't okay
Ok so I got 12 boxes got 1 gold Pop the other 11 went like this 2 Superman, 2 Batman , and the rest Batgirl. I do know for sure that Gamestop employees used hairdryers to left the seals and rearranged the pops so they could get the ones they wanted. I know that they were allowed to purchase the same amount as the public. This is also why so many people got the same reactions and key chains. I also know Funko messed up with some of the shipping and pallet arrangement. But, Funko also used the reactions figures and Pop Key chains that were not selling well as filler. This is why there was so many. This was more of a way to dump end of the year inventory than a promotional deal. I was a the Funko Panel at ECCC last year and their response to serious collectors was there main focus is making money. There a company and they don't really care about exclusives or over-producing Pops and flooding the market. The Hulkbuster was a great example, they said you could only get it in the Marvel Collector Corps. This turned out to be a total lie they are all over the internet. So don't trust what Gamestop or Funko says and remember the only thing these companies have in common is making money.
I know from my friend is working at GameStop that on his store all the employees were checking the boxes before sell it. In fact, he separe the claptrap boxes and sell it only to "no nice customers" for fun .. Horrible fact.
if your able to peek then its false advertisement of being a mystery box.
+Jason Garcia this logic is flawed
+Jason Garcia i bought two boxes and wasn't able to peek inside
+Hayley Seymour "We did look inside". Thanks for admitting your guilty of what they were saying.
+Daikkenaurora Did you even read the entire comment? If you did then you did not understand the point of it AT ALL.
+Curtis James (CrazyCurt) I really wanted the superman!
I bought 3 boxes.. only to get 3 Batgirls and 2 mini Annas. I was pissed and tried to return it, but I'm never buying this BS ever again. Thumbs down to Gamestop
3 Blackest Night Superman 😱😱*Faints*
how many boxes you buy?
+Daniel Ashe ouch but a gold batman and batgirl is a win
I got a Thor Funkopop figure, a Greninja amiibo, and reserved a copy of Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3DS. Glad that I didn't get a mystery 20 dollars box!
We got 8 boxes, 2 fallout armor, 2 slap traps & 4 batgirls. Thank god one of the batgirls was gold. We did an unboxing also.
I place the blame on the person who thought this whole thing was a good idea
+Jesus Christ It was probably the same person who decided that the Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars was a great Thursday Night Football game.
+The Lawn Gnome ouch lol
***** Glad you two approved of that :-)
Hey, my husband just pointed out to me that you quoted me in this video! Cool. :)
I SHOULD clarify that out of the 15 boxes I bought, there were 9 Superman Pops and 5 Power Armor Pops, with the one extra one being Batman.
They should've rapped the whole box in plastic
+Miguel85NYC agreed
"they should do something a little different next year.."
yeah, like not this.
Dang, I thought I had shitty luck when I got 4 Clap Traps(the guy ahead of us got 3 Clap Traps). BUT TWELVE!? We were lucky and we went back the next day and got a Gold Superman and a regular Power Armor.
+Ashley Schroader yay! the gold superman is awesome! Not as common as batman either
Very true
I'm with you on this got 2 and was only allowed to buy two without getting back in line but I got 2 different pops and I got a gold so didn't have a problem with this.
I got 8 different ones here they are. Predator, deadpool, bos fallout 3, Adrian Peterson, superman, deathstroke, batsman, flash
I'm happy the greedy people who bought 10+ boxes got all doubles or junk. Maybe somebody else might like to buy 1 box : )
I blame the employees for taking all the gold and the manufacturers for making a horrible box.
+Tyler Willey thats a respectable way to do it
This is definitely about people who don't know have the full information.
I will never buy another Funko POP from GameStop.
this was recommended off of a video I saw of yours. then I saw your comment here. this is isa sign I sub now
I like your guys' new out-row animation, great vid!!
Also really disliked the reaction figures. The pins and keychains were cool but unnecessary. It felt like a rip off haha.
+Briannah O yeah agreed. The pins are very cool. Definitely gonna go on the patch jacket
i bought a total of 8 boxes, no gold. i got
2 - Batman
3 - Batgirl
1 - Superman
2 - Power armor
love the channel, My bf and I watch your videos all the time. The customs are amazing!!
I see people posting pictures of 6 or 7 gold ones stacked up with them saying "Wow I got so lucky!" Yeah...right.
+Steve Stevensteverson (Mac) And also, the gold ones are stupid as heck. Oh boy.....gold paint.
+Steve Stevensteverson (Mac) Employees looked in the boxes, took all the good ones and left everyone else with trash.
You can get that lucky. It's unlikely but still possible.
hey guys, love your videos.
Keep it up!
+Cody Benson (RyuReviews) Welcome Cody glad to have you :)
I'm kind of glad I missed out on these. After seeing all the backlash, I do hope that those that want to buy future GameStop mystery boxes will have a better time next time. I hope they learn from this. I do not think I would attempt to buy a mystery box unless I like to love all of the potential mystery figures.
GameStop in Fishers had the boxes behind the counter and they had put tape circles on the sides as well to prevent from looking inside.
Very valid points mentioned in this video! They should have plastic wrapped the mystery boxes just like Hot Topic did for their Mystery POPs! :)
+Jon Rojas Best Buys gamers club is better anyways ;) lol
I know from my friend is working at GameStop that on his store all the employees were checking the boxes before sell it.
the funko sucker box
they got me
on a good note my dog is enjoying claptrap very much
I got a sealed case of 4 at Gamestop at 5 am, and all 4 of the boxes had entirely the same items. All 4 had batmans and all of the other items were completely identical.
I am extremely lucky that my 2 boxes had no duplicate items.
They must have all came in stack of the same pops and gs employees were sure what to do or what was in them so they just put them on the shelves unknowingly giving people the same pops
our ebgames here around vancouver were aware of it. i was told by an worker that they were trying to work out something with headoffice.
its the employees.
I bought 13 boxes and not a single gold, waste of money and I'm very pissed off! I don't know if I should write to GameStop about it.
+Tim Groves horrible
Was I the only one who thought about Good Mythical Morning because of the intro?
The Gamestop employee that rang me up peeked inside the box before charging me :/ She said, "Oh, you got Batman." Well, thanks for ruining the surprise.
At one of my Gamestops they still had some boxes and they knew none of them had gold figures in them.
Boxes came to gamestop unsealed. This was online as they shipped. The packaging seals sucked and we're coming unstuck. This allowed for easy tampering. I do believe the gold distribution was messed up too. Some people bought tons and got zero.. Some bought tons and got all gold.
We got 17 boxes and got 8 Regular Power Armors.
Great subject. I wanted the power armor. Went to the first store and bought 2 boxes. Got power armor and bat girl. Went to another store and the sides were actually taped. Ended up getting 2 gold batgirls. Not a fan of the other items.
You can sort the hot topic boxes by weight.Harley weighs the most due to her hammer.
I got 2 gold out of the 4 boxes so no complaining my way. :)
+Shoryuken 667 (esf667) haha no way thats an awesome haul
+Nerd Therapy Yea i was surprised, i actually picked the boxes from the middle, i ended up with 2 gold batgirl's but traded one for the blackest night batman. also was looking forward to the gold power armored pop but no luck!
+Nerd Therapy I see you have the star labs shirt u must watch the flash
Marks face at 7:13 ha ha ha, love you guys
I bought 3 and got 3 different pops. I got the superman, power armor, and claptrap. A buddy got a Gold Bat-girl from a different store. They had a huge wall behind the counter of them asked what specific one I wanted and even if I wanted a different one from back. To my eyes the box didn't look tampered but, I could be wrong. The thing about stores like gamestop, hot topic, etc. Is that if even one single employee knows about collecting no chase editions will ever make it on the shelf. Who wouldn't buy something for 10 bucks they could instantly resell for many many times more?
The sides of my box was sealed and the boxes were behind the counter at my store, one box per customer. I was hoping for a box full of Pop's.
Love your Star Labs sweat shirt man! Have the same one :D
Is there any good places in the UK to get funko pops? Stores or websites
QUINNSGAMING HD forbidden planet
between myself and 2 of my friends we bought 10 boxes total. we all got 5 batmans, 2 supermans, 1 claptrap, 1 batgirl, and 1 super armor (which I got that was gold)...
A corporation ripping off customers, what a suprise lol
Game Stop part of something poorly organized and/or shady? Shocking.
as in most collectibles numbers are based on production. im pretty sure when they were set to ship odds got mixed up.. i went to 3 different game stops here in the Fort Lauderdale areas and all the boxes didnt seem to be tampered with. and all were held behind the counter. shame on those stores that just left them out in the middle of the floor... also i know of at least 2 stores that still have these boxes on hand
My friend and I each bought 2 on Black Friday at 5am. We got regular power armor in each one.
I got two Gold Supermans so I guess I did really good considering all this... The rest of my box was different too! Went to the San Ysidro Outlet and they kept their boxes in the back locked up.
+rougedlips now that is some awesome luck!
This is why i like the way that you know what your getting with pops funk vinyl figures opposing to blind boxes but you should do some funny openings
+itsPAYDAY meant dunnys
I used to work at Gamestop and it was a crooked operation. The employees tamper with the exclusives all the time.
where did you get that star lab t-shirt
I also mentioned the duplication in my unboxing video
Hopefully they don't do this next year and saying you won't shop at GameStop anymore is pretty dumb
The thing that bugged me was that the pops came crushed. I knew I was likely to get doubles and I was fine with that. But getting crushed pops isn't okay
I bought two boxes and they both were sealed well. The boxes actually ripped a little when the stickers were removed. No gold pops though.
+Jeff Itterly same here, thank god i got two different ones and one was gold
So don't trust what Gamestop or Funko says and remember the only thing these companies have in common is making money.
family, friends, and i bought a total of 32 boxes. no batgirl
