This song was EXTREMELY popular. Couldn't go anywhere without hearing it.
Brings me back to my cover band days, as soon as I started up the song the dance floor was packed.
Wake up! They copy and steal other reactors material word for word
For some reason there were a bunch of angsty songs in the early 2000s about Superman as a metaphor for the human condition.
So many mfs used that as their ringtone lol
Damn it’s still so damn good
This whole album is really good, I wore it out when it came out in 2000.
Same
"Too good for radio" I was still forced into learning of this in mags. Once it won best single in ? for two years I had to Napster it LOL!
3 Doors Down was huge here in their hometown area of South Mississippi. They played nearly any concert venue that would have them back before and just after this album released.
About the song's meaning, Arnold has said:
"That song seems like it's really just kind of like asking a question. Its question is kind of a strange one. It's not just asking, "If I fall down, will you be there for me?", because it's easy to be there for someone when they're down. But it's not always easy to be there for somebody when they're doing good. And that's the question it's asking. It's like, "If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman?" It's asking, "If I'm down, will you still be there for me?" but at the same time, "If I'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand?" That's kind of asking, "If I'm doing good, will you be there for me? Will you not be jealous of me?" That's the basic question that song's asking, and maybe throughout the years of singing that song, I might have come up with more meanings for it than it actually might have originally had."
Wow Daniel - Thank you sooo much for the insight. I love this song - the Crescendo is intense just screaming Yeah!!!! I gained some knowledge from u - preeeeesh
I always get the image of superman taking a walk around the world, a world thats going to the dark side of the moon, and wondering if there's anything he can do.
Daniel, that's exactly what I got from the lyrics.
That is brilliant. A most outstanding interpretation. Thank you.
The video opened my eyes to this song. Seeing your parents age and becoming weak and losing their minds. When you're a kid, your parents are God and when they get old, after all they sacrificed for us, we shove them in a corner of nursing home somewhere and act like they're just goofy little kids.
That’s a good enology and very thought provoking. My granddad was my superman and to see him become weaker by the day hurt so much. We, his descendants, took care of everything for him thought. No old folks home for him. He died in the built with his wife.
I would never. They took care of me, and I do the same.
this was the song we played at my dad's funeral. i was barely 5 and this song still brings a tear to my eye. you were my superman, now i will be someone else's
David Fuhr.. you hang in there brother, your father isn't far away. That's a promise from GOD.. I talk to my dad and mom everyday.. love ya bro
Such a good album. "Loser" and"When I'm gone" are also worth a listen.
Loser is my fave, but sadly didn't get as much play as Kryptonite.
I like the way Brad tries to analyze the lyrics while Lexi seems consumed by the music.
3 Doors Down
Here Without You
When I'm Gone
I was visiting friends in upstate New York and caught this song playing on a Toronto progressive rock station - before it caught fire in the US. Really dug the song. I live outside San Francisco. When I got home, I saw 3 Doors Down was literally playing a community softball park in the north bay (Rohnert Park to be precise). Got tickets. We were the only people there in polo shirts and khaki's. Everyone else were in black tees, jeans, studded belts and leather vests riding Harley's. lol The warm up band??? Lifehouse! Six months later we saw Lifehouse play at the Warfield in SF. Can't make this stuff up.....
"When I'm Gone" and "When You're Young" are two 3 Doors Down songs that I think are definitely on the "must hear" list for this band.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, the roll of the drum draws the intrigue of both Brad & Lex as Brad Arnold's contradicting smooth AND gritty vocals, metaphorical lyrics and upbeat tempo spark theories amongst the two. Lex takes kindly to the chorus and calls it her "favorite part" while proceeding with several "bops" equipped with "murmur mouth" and "drummy hands". Brad enjoys the "marching drums" but is slightly moved besides a slight "sway" for he is the man of "still".
THIS SONG IS A BANGER AND AN ANTHEM!!
Amazing band, great live and awesome people!!
Big supporters of military overseas, saw them in Italy with the USO show. They were GREAT!!
Great song. They've got other good ones, like "When I'm Gone," but this was my favorite.
my sons a marine this means alot i cry
Be Like That was my fave
Away from the sun I think is the best
@@scootercaster576 Way up there for me. :)
I’ve been to 3 of their concerts and they are great! One concert was at a small venue just a few years ago. It was a really intimate setting called “Back Porch Jam”. All the songs were acoustic and they talked so much more than a regular concert. It was literally like we were hanging out with them. One of the best concerts I’ve been to.
I was in high school when this song came out around 2000. I thought it was a bit odd that the instrumental guitar parts were praised by guitar magazines as "a comeback of guitar solos" back then, which kinda tells you how unusual it was to hear guitar lines like that back then. Those were weird times indeed XD
I always thought he was talking about his gf thinking he was Superman and she is his Kryptonite. She’s probably a redhead (my personal Kryptonite.) Even though she is bad for him and maybe even deadly, he’ll keep her and protect her.
You guys should react to…
3 Doors Down - Here Without You
🎸🤘
I totally remember this song from when I was 11. The year 2000 was actually awesome! Great upload.
These guys did a USO tour in 2002. I did security for them on one leg of it. The video for the song When I’m Gone was done on that tour. These guys were so down to earth and humble. Love their music.
Great alternative rock music tune !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3 Doors are a South Mississippi band and have a bunch of great songs. Brad wrote that song 20 plus years ago when they were in High School.
Great live!!!
Underrated band..
Many great songs!!😀
I love 3 Doors Down. "Here Without You" is my favorite.
I gotta' say, watching Miss Lex, vibing hard to these songs is the best part of this channel.
Such a mood.
Love the late 90's/early 2000's sound. Takes you right back.
The basic lesson in this song is, we need each other, not just in bad times, but good times as well. You see someone who is doing well, and you think, okay, they don't need me because they're in good shape. But we always need the human connection, no matter what is happening.
Everyone I knew listened to this song in middle school & high school lol, brings back memories.
Miss the early 2000s..
My dad is 78.. I call him Benjamin Buttons.. this is one of his favorite songs.. he is a tough fisherman in Maine.
Childhood memories with this one. Being like 11 and first time hearing it was on a portable CD player in the back of a Ford Bronco headed to Louisiana.
EVERYTHING you guys cover...hard to pop reminds me of my life...what you guys do makes me feel like your sharing a little piece of my life but through new eyes and a fresh perspective that I may not have noticed before...THANK YOU
Here Without You and Loser are two other songs by 3 Doors Down I would recommend. Very different feels. One is slow and sentimental, the other edgy and suspenseful, and yet it has a similar vibe between the two.
See what did I tell you all, Lex has a little rock and roll Gremlin inside of her.!
They are from Mississippi. Love this band.
Great song. Others to check out When I'm Gone, Here Without You, and Loser.
Such a great song. When I'm Gone and Away from the Sun are great ones as well.
Love "Away From the Sun"! It's a very sad song though. I've listened to it when I was depressed.... not a good idea 🙄
one of the best songs of that era.
I was suppose to see them at a music festival but they had to cancel at the last minute because of a flood, a crowd of 10K people were pissed but my 2nd favorite band stepped up and took their place with no notice at all... ROCK SUGAR. you need to check them out on this channel.
Check out The Professor Of Rock channel, he talks to the lead singer of Rock sugar about that gig
I remember my early years 15-16 years old, walking with my friend to another friends house. On the way we would pass by a garage (I think it was coming from the garage) and hear these guys playing and laughed and made some silly remarks about how they sounded bad and would not make it. We walked this path through town at least a few times a week.
Fast forward time a short while and these guys had the number 1 song in America for some time. I used to have a version of this song that has been long lost. It was much heavier and we played the hell out of that cd. The songs "loser" and "Down poison" are also good hits among a few more from this album.
Fast Forward 8-10 years or so, and my Aunt (R.I.P.) married the brother of Chris Henderson the guitarist from 3 doors down.
Fast forward to today and I am sharing this little bit history with all and recording it here on my now favorites reaction duo. Till this day hearing anything from this album takes me back to Pascagoula 97'-99'
Kept hearing this song played at the gym. Ask the girl at the front desk who is this? She gave me the CD. Been in love with them ever since!!!!! Underrated!!!!!
More proof that great songs were still being produced after 1985. I hope you had the volume UP ! 💥💥 🔥
Brad likes southern rock. That’s pretty much what this band is
Killer music from the turn of the millenia
This is a good song by three doors down and the video is even better…👍🏼👍🏼
Love the band 3 doors down. I seen them a couple of times and they sound like a CD with clarity and they play loud but its clean without a bunch of distortion. You should react to "If I could be like that" their are many others as well. The song is stating if he goes off on his girl friend because she is taking everything he does for granite will she still see him as her superman. The girl is his Kryptonite. Love the play on words... When we were married without kids my wife was my kryptonite and once you have kids they become your kyptonite.
Watching Lex piece the story of the lyrics together in real time as her smile kept getting bigger was the best part!
This song always hits me because a friend of mine in high school really liked this song when it came out then died on 4th of July from a car crash, we were 16 at the time. So it always reminds me of him to this day.
Kryptonite is an element that when placed near to Superman makes him lose his superpowers and makes him weak. It's an element found on Krypton Supermans home world.
have you guys heard Leo of Frog Leap Studio? He does a ton of awesome metal covers, when he did a cover of Africa I was hooked. Definitely worth a listen. Great video guys!!!
The song was written by the band's vocalist and drummer, Brad Arnold, in a mathematics class when he was fifteen and was one of the first songs he ever wrote.
Will you not be jealous of me?" That's the basic question that song's asking
I like this tune mostly because of the drums. Rock on Brad & Lex
Saw many a drummer butcher it in the bars too, ha!
Wake up! They copy and steal other reactors material word for word
@@jennanderson9905 Whose?? Gimme 2 examples.
@@skinhitter27 she's been hitting all their videos with this garbage. Just ignore her and move on.
@@jennanderson9905 Wake up, find a life with real problems!
So many great songs. Not my time, here without you, when I’m gone, citizen soldier
Have not heard this one for years but i still know most of the lyrics.
Crawfish 🦞 boil vibes Lex!!!!!! Really!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You are priceless!!!!!! Brad you are totally awesome!!!!!! Keep on keeping on you two!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩😎🍸
My first cd 😭 the nostalgia is real
I love watching these two.
Good song with an interesting video to boot.
There's another good Superman/kryptonite song you should listen to: "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" by The Spin Doctors. Their song is more upbeat, fun and cheerful.
The wife here..This Song was HUGE back in the day...as stated below....I was more of a hair glam fan...But.., appreciated and liked some grunge and post grunge...This was one of the best..IMO..
My son put this on my iPod. And i would go walking to it. I love Three Doors Down.
Good post grunge group from the '90s and '00s. They have a lot of good songs and videos. 😊
I saw them a couple of months ago, awesome!!!
I saw them in Bonner Springs with Braking Benjamin and Staind as the openers. Great frikkin" show!
3 doors down. Now you've really done it. I personally like Landing in London, If I could be like that, Here without you. They are sure fire and you will absolutely enjoy them ☺️👍💗💗💗💗
Some local boys see them all the time in Hattiesburg Ms . Genuine nice down to earth guys
This song is where it's at in the 2OOO's 🤘🔥🖤
Always loved this song! We covered it one time and it killed for all ages! I always loved these type solos too. Not hard, nothing much to it, but just very tasteful and melodic! Not a huge “ride the lightning” guy, always loved the melodic solos!
Amazing song. Love that you guys enjoyed it. Cheers!
I respect you two as you listen to songs that are out of the genre. Thank you.
i love that Lex just truly enjoys every song, and brad..... i watch the lines in brads forehead and between the eyes appear when he is questioning what he is listening too....i wish you too lived in my trailer park!!! we would BBQ and react together all the time :)
Love the snare drums on this song
I believe I was 3 when this song came out and loved it ever since lol my mom blasted this in her car and she said I would always say " Play Krytonite " lol nothings changed really I still tell her to play songs 🤣
Especially Krytonite and songs by def leppard 🤘
So hard for me to believe that this song is 22 years old. It got me through so much.
There is a sub strata of the song that vets hear. They went around the world. He saved his friend and he goes crazy every now and then. That battle buddy was there holding his hand being the kryptonite taking the power of the anger and setting him straight. Its not in the song but alot of my friends and family who walked that dark road of war hear the lyrics a lot different.
The first 3-4 albums by these guys are fantastic. They were like the early 2000s hit makers.
A lover that's your Strength AND your weakness!
Great song and band reaction 2 thumbs up !!
Brad, Lex still keeps surprising you. It makes me laugh. Great review.
I remember hearing this played often, WMMS in early 2ks.
I met the guys from 3 doors down in a small bar in Biloxi Mississippi a couple years before they hit the big time, there was no one in the bar, maybe 3 or 4 people, my friends and I had lost most of our money at the casino's and these guys were so good, we bought them beer and they hung our with us awhile, all real down to earth cool guys then maybe 2 years later they were all over MTV
Completely Random: When living in Manhattan Beach I lived 3 Doors Down from the neighborhood bar. Everytime people asked me where I lived, I responded "3 Doors Down". They would chuckle and be like, "No really."
This song triggers SO MUCH nostalgia!!!😍
An absolute classic
He’s trying to be Superman for someone, even though they are like kryptonite to him.
Song is a guilty pleasure of mine
I saw them in concert and they were amazing!!
This song brings me back to Junior High. This song played about every eight minutes when it was new. 😂
I've been watching you two awhile now and just subscribed! I've always called you Indica and Sativa! Lex you of course Sativa with all the energy. Who has a soul that could be a hippie, hahah. I love your spirit and open mind. Brad your more laid back chilling, taking it all in! You're cute together and compliment each other in this way. I love the reaction to music I lived through which always has great memories! It's different having lived it than just listening to it. I almost want to put you in that time to feel the vibe, that one can't capture. It's enjoyable to watch and hear.
3 doors down.... Wow! This takes me back
3 doors down - straight from the Sip !!! Escatawpa MS.
Saw them play aboard USS George Washington during a port call in Lisbon in 2002. Great show.
Man this song was in every mall, Hospital, pharmacy, hell even McDonald’s from 2000-2002.
Awesome song awesome couple and I like your hat keep up the good work
I still like this song👍great reaction, the official video is pretty good too lol
Amazing! This is still an excellent song!
I love it when Lex gets into the music, what a Party Animal,Brad looks lost and confused, and has a look on his face that someone farted. 🙃😛😁
Saw them in concert. What you hear on the album is what you get live.
This song was extremely popular. And while I’m more of a marvel comics fan in DC comics, I must admit some of the lyrics describe the character of Superman perfectly!
One of my favorite songs . Also the video is very good…
The woman was too much for one man to handle!! ❤❤❤
3 Doors Down are one of my Favorite Bands!
When this song came out I knew rock and roll was in good hands in this new generation.
