The mini was already being shown in Warhammer Community article and was waiting to hear more about it by you. Gorgeous paint job and I love how vibrant you went with the model!
Conrad Kurze wasn't lost. He was just hiding. Waiting for the perfect time to strike. Also, the Night Lords trilogy is one of the better novel series from Black Library. Aaron Dembski-Bowden is a great writer, and really brings the 8th Legion to life in a complex and sympathetic way (while not minimizing how evil they are).
I would've liked to have seen a full painting video of how you did Konrad Curze. The GW trip was nice and all, but i would've loved the 2 videos you could've made from this content.
I was just heading to the comments to say the same. It always seems to occupy a high spot in the "the few Warhammer books that are actually good" lists, alongside The Infinite and the Divine and now The Twice Dead King.
Actually they have a lot of great authors writing for them but this trilogy from ADB was some of the best Sci-Fi I ever read. Those three books are probably my favourites followed by the fist three Gotrek and Felix books from William King.
That box was brutalized... Glad it went through ok. DHL typically has better results internationally than UPS for future endeavors. Cannot wait to make it over there someday myself.
can confirm that DHL is better. Regularly both send and receive stuff from the US, live in Sweden, and DHL have been really solid. The one time the package got brutalized they apologized and asked for pictures of the package and if the items were damaged to then get it sorted through their transport guarantees. UPS just doesn't seem to care, been sent stuff with them a handful of times and they always take longer time, the package is usually not in the best condition, and they don't care when you tell them :/ Same within the EU as well, DHL is just more reliable it seems to me.
I dont like DHL at all I had a custom made computer deliverd by them and wow the first time it came (yes it came more than once) the guy took it out of the truck and let it drop a good two feet! it twisted the graphics card so I sent it back and again the same thing happened the company then blamed me!! (the company I bought it from) I went insane a them after all I spent 3k on the damn thing at the time and my brother picked it up off them and it was fine. I went onto reviews for the company and wow they were major asses to reviews on the site and many were talking about either customer service and of course delivery ha I used them years before this and they were well loved at the time with great customer service and support.
@@yagsipcc287 it was probably dropped way more in the distribution centres. The other thing is that any reputable pre made pc company use tight packing around the gpu so it would never break in transport. So either they didn’t pack the inside or you’ve embellished your story.
@@zulous they used to be very well regarded now not so much and many people have had the same issue. I saw it happen with my eyes also it was a beast of a computer very heavy and it twisted part of the machine. I organized my own collection later on after it happened again! And it was all good. My brother picked it up in his car for me while I was at work (think I was at work) this was several years ago now. The place was CustomPC Ireland. Last time I went onto reviews for thw place it was mostly negative but this was 3 years ago when I checked last and I have the pc longer than that. My graphics card was a 1080TI (when it was still a top proformer) I have totally overhauled my pc since then with new almost everything.
That Night Lords omnibus is _AMAZING_ . The novels it includes are seriously some of the best 40k writing out of the entire Black Library collection. Aaron Dembski-Bowden does an incredible job humanizing multiple characters who, at a cursory glance, are all awful and terrible people. It's also a _deeeeep_ dive into the fractured state of the Night Lords, both as a legion and their own mental state. Cannot recommend that omnibus any higher.
I just finished the nightlords trilogy and it was super good! I would suggest listening to it on audible. The voice acting is top tier and it just oozes atmosphere!
I really hope this event was GW realizing that there's a ton of people who got into this hobby BECAUSE of people like you. Is this age of digital media consumption, content creators are a bigger and more effective advertiser of a product than any in house marketing strategy ever will be and by working directly with content creators everybody wins. I personally couldn't name more than two 'Eavy Metal painters, but I can rattle off a dozen or more content creators that inspire me every day. Thank you for all that you do, Jon! Even if you didn't bring back gifts for the rest of the class...
The Night Haunter turned out great. And I agree on the shining armour. He's still a Primarch after all. I like to think their armour is brighter and lightning charged when trying to instill fear, but turns dark when they're concealing themselves. It's a tragedy that Tabletop Titans made his army looked like a bunch of Ultramarines though. No lightning, no skulls, no blood, no red stained hands. Not a single Night Lords feature outside of maybe the lightning claws.
Yeah that army didn’t look great. I think one of those guys used to be a commission painter, but he crutches HARD on the airbrush and just uses it for everything to the detriment of the model.
I painted this model and I absolutely loved it, I really wished I took more photos as I absolutely nailed it. I payed attention i layered for days. Probably my favourite miniature
Cant wait to see more 30k Night Lords from you. The video content had a very good balance of its story parts. Thx for your time and creations (models and videos)!
Lol in the lore Konrad was placed in a stasis coffin by his brothers and jettisoned into space and was later picked up by a cargo freighter. Your shipping story isn't too far off.
Great stuff, Jon. I continue to be excited by seeing a new video released from your channel. Your story telling and added humor is a welcome addition to what i see from many of the other channels. I've watched how the videos get better, while staying true to your ordinal flavor. What's even better is it looks like the creators that used to inspire you, look to now be pulling inspiration and drawing ideas from your work. Stay on your path and keep to your style. It's awesome!
Unreal paint job, it's always eye opening to see the level professional painters can achieve when they put serious time and dedication into a single project (which isnt always viable when you're churning out videos, obviously)
Buffalo Bill Bathrobe. I'm dead. Also, you became the "I didn't know what I was expecting" meme when you did your unfortunate Googlin'. Did an awesome job on Konrad.
What an adventure and a great choice of Primarch! The figure came out amazing and good for you to keep your head up during all of that debacle. Keep up the great work! -John
I was so excited when I red your name under this beautiful painted model at the Warhammer Community site. Eversince you introduced those sexy goggs your painting skill has improved dramaticly! 🤩
haha you did an amazing job on Konrad, what makes it even more unique is that he also shares a tragic backstory like he did in the lore hahaha. very fitting. glad he ended up at Warhammer World. i'd be pissed over missing an event, all the time and effort spent. and having no feedback by the postal service. what the hell happened? the only conclusion is like you said. you had to of painted the most realistic dead skin cape ever, and they brought over scientists, FBI and Doctors to check out how you shrunk and froze solid a real person. no other explanation besides crappy postal service.
Wait so this was the model used for the official posts? That hilarious. I saw the Konrad and thought "man I need to try that non metal metals that I saw Ninjon do cause that looks dope as hell"
So glad that you enjoyed your trip over here to Blighty m8, especially after hearing how poor old Scott's visit ended early, absolutely gutted about that. I have seen lots of interpretations on the Curze model Jon but I agree with you, that super bright contrast works like a charm! Great job m8 well done...now lets hope his return journey stays clear of the warp unlike his first trip!
Your painting skill is incredible, and your Konrad looks both amazing and creepy in the same time. I'm glad he made it there and joined his sons in one piece
I KNEW you'd use that tongue-flick footage, you deviant
I'm glad to hear Konrad wasn't lost... Your paint job was amazing! So cool to see so many content creators assemble at Warhammer World too!

The important thing I took away from this is that Jon finally confronted GW on the absolute crime that was losing the golden demon
went to their house, man to men
Weird comment but god bless the short cameo from Angel Giraldez at 7:02, Dios bendiga a ese hombre 🙌🙌, Great video as always Jon
I was absolutely stoked by that wee cameo, so great to see 👀
Great video, Can’t wait to see your podcast partners video, on his once in a lifetime trip to the home of our hobby, ohh wait…….
Jon, we love you, and value your positivity and contributions to the hobby. That said, you’ve outgrown your intro.
I stop what I'm doing every time to watch it, love the lighthearted spirit of it thinks it really shows a strength of the channel
Beautiful Conrad! If you don’t want to risk him coming back across the pond, he could always be the foundation of my new night lords army haha
I can’t be the only one who was expecting some sort of comment about what happened with Miniac.
I would've liked to have seen a full painting video of how you did Konrad Curze. The GW trip was nice and all, but i would've loved the 2 videos you could've made from this content.
So not only does the blue NMM look sick with the insane amount of detail, but I’ve learned it’s ok to mix TMM with NMM. Thanks Jon!
Fantastic exhibition of products and painting! Enjoyed the array of application and difficulty.
Great rendition of Kurze, I'm glad your work wasn't lost or dashed to bits.
Painting Curze was one of the most fun paint jobs I've laid down, excellent job!
The night lords omnibus is actually one of the better written black library sets to my understanding, looking forward to your impressions given that.

Really sucks that he didn't arrive in time for the event but he does look amazing! It's so awesome to see GW working with content creators too
Never, NEVER change your intro!!
Congratulation! Warhammer World is fabulous. Great paaint job on Conrad. Very happy that GW invited you anbd other content providers. awesome.
Jon, you painting just keeps getting more and more mind-blowingly good. That armour looked amazing.
Im living my life through you vicariously. Brings a tear to my eye . Happy happy tears . Glorious just wonderful . *sniff sniff. 😂

Great to meet you at the weekend Jon.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to England! Paint job is stunning

Never use normal mail to ship overseas. 😊 I learned that ages ago. Glad he made it there safe though. He looks amazing. Hope you get him soon.
thank you. Dont ever change the intro! its perfect
Your Konrad is mind-blowingly amazing. Joint favourite with Richard Grey's Rogal Dorn.
