  • As a one off 60K subscriber special episode, we deviate from the idea of testing operating systems to instead see what OSFirstTimer would be like if it was about testing out cars for the first time. Diana just got a new car (to replace her last one she has had for a decade) so this was the perfect opportunity to do this video. Enjoy :)
    Task List:
    1. Unlock your car remotely
    2. What time is it and how many kms has the car driven?
    3. Turn on the air conditioner
    4. Play music from an iPhone through the car speakers
    5. Use the car to make a phone call through your phone.
    6. Drive anywhere in Australia and perform a reverse parking.
Back on the topic of operating systems though, check out my less than 3 minute Arch Linux Installation Tutorial on my How To Quickly Channel: • How To Quickly: Instal...

I just noticed my intro for this video has an "amateur commercial" feeling to it. It was not meant to feel like an ad for Mitsubishi and we were not paid by them to feature their car etc... Diana just really liked their service and wanted to point it out. (So no, OSFirstTimer is and always will be about true opinions, we don't make paid promotional videos with fake opinions).

It looked like there was a little groove in the shelf above the glove box for having the USB cable stick up so you can leave the phone on the shelf while it is plugged in. Also, here is the best response I've seen for the 'B' on the shifter:
"The "B" actually stands for "braking". This mode is specifically for use when a higher level of engine braking is required, such as descending steep hills. "B" mode allows the engine to rev to 3000 Rpm throughout the speed range so a far greater engine braking resonse is felt when letting off the accelerator."

Mitsubishi hasn't succeeded in North America because they don't design cars for American drivers. All the other Japanese car makes have design HQs and factories in the USA which makes a big difference.

    3. If that happened while Diana was driving, you'd probably run into a building by now... Kinda ironic since you almost called 000 ;)

Hilarious about the in-car voice recognition dialling. Did you guys ever figure it out? I've noticed Siri / Google-Assistant (when connected) is far superior in voice recognition simply due to the vast network it has at its disposal once the voice sample is uploaded as compared to the car's limited baked-in algorithms. You're better off connecting the phone via bluetooth then having Siri (internet connected) listening for your commands like "Hey Siri, call Phillip" or "Hey Siri, dial XXX". The accuracy will be perfect.

The squiggly thing she was talking about is actually a safety feature so Diana doesn't stall out by accidentally shifting into reverse while driving. Or worse still, the engine wins and Diana is sent straight into the car behind.

Very odd that "000" is Emergency services in Australia, and considering 0 is the number to get connected to an operator here in North America, I was confused at first when she freaked out.

here it would usually be 911-UNTV I say untv because I don't want anyone prank calling the emergency services. for police, idk
btw the number 911-UNTV comes from a TV station here in my country.

The "B" mode should be used if you are going down a long hill, and your batteries are already close to being fully charge. "B" mode lets the engine help slow down the car without overusing your brakes and over-charging the batteries.

Instead of using the car's proprietary voice commands, you could manually activate Siri on your iPhone (making sure it's within arm's reach), and then the car should act like it's making a phone call, but it'll let you use Siri through the car's microphone and speakers. I do it this way on my 2014 Peugeot 208 and it perfectly recognizes my voice commands almost all the time.
Over here, the Mirage is called Space Star, and it's not popular (I've only seen one in real life) because there isn't a diesel version (you wouldn't believe how many diesel cars there are here, big and small).

The reason you have to push the keys in to get them out is because in case you might accidentally knock them out when your driving it's a safety feature so you can't knock them out😃
