as far as exe stuff goes, anything that changes things up from the usual "run forward to die or run somewhere else to die anyways" formula is always a good thing
One of the things that makes me appreciate Dan the Patient Bear's exe series and the only thing that *kind of* makes me appreciate the Nightmare series is that Tails can live in them. I say kind of because Nightmare Beginning's canon is that he dies, but at least NB has an ending in which he survives. But like every other .exe adjacent game has him be the first one to die. And I get it's because in the original creepypasta he's the first to go, but after so many .exe fangames have come out I would like to see more change. That one weird game, War of Good and Evil, interests me but I don't know anything about it, but Tails is the protagonist of that one, it seems, so that's a change of pace I suppose. But still, we're looking at like four or five games out of the dozens and dozens of fangames out there.
