  • I like to refer to the backswing motion as a COIL instead of a TURN, and here is why. Coiling to me implies some sort of resistance and wind up motion that we can use to our advantage in the transition and downswing.
    A turn, simply refers to opening or closing our body lines without any resistance being generated or a specific sequence to the turn.
    Without coil or resistance, the golf swing will feel very unstable and power and compression are hard to generate, so, let’s get coiling everyone 💪🏻😎
    Try it! Do you feel the tension in your backswing now? Let me know in the comments 👇🏻

    Hey Golfers, great to have you here! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
    My golf career is marked by a trajectory from a skilled amateur to a seasoned professional, competing on the LPGA/SYMETRA Tour. During my amateur days, I attended IMG Academies, training under the close guidance of the world's best Leadbetter instructors. I continued to thrive while playing Division 1 golf at the University of Central Florida, holding the captain's title throughout my senior year. After finishing my college career, I went straight to LPGA Q-school, where I secured my tour card for the LPGA/SYMETRA Tour. During my rookie year, I joined the cast of the popular Golf Channel Show "Big Break," showcasing my competitive skills on national television. During my professional playing career, I was always drawn toward the technical intricacies of the golf swing, often helping my friends and fellow players improve their swings.
    Now let me help you start playing the BEST GOLF OF YOUR LIFE!

    35 years ago that's how I played, low scores, long drives etc, since then I have heard time after time, especially for senors, collapse the left knee, the results are hard swings with no distance and high scores. Great advice!!

    She’s absolutely correct! I’ve tried and studied countless compound pivot/takeaway videos. I used to coil then turned too flat which almost ruined my swing, now I’m back to proper coiling and the contact difference is night and day.

    Exactly! Great video, I did my “Corkscrew” drill, or a “right pocket” drill. I feel like my lead leg is more of a corkscrew as I go into the back swing.
    I figured it as as a coach was having me turn too much, it screwed my swing up.
    This is what we need to do.

    This is why most people can’t hit long irons. You have no chance collapsing your left knee or moving too far away from the wall at hitting a long iron. I would take a 3 iron any day over a 5 wood. But my swing thought for my iron is always not moving off the wall

  • @purecarve9535
    @purecarve9535 3 місяці тому

    Yeah, makes sense. I really like when coaches/ teachers understand "dynamics" . And that is the difference. I don't know that the average golfer will ever truly know what that means. Coil is dynamic, turning is not.
    Therefore when someone simply turns there is no rebound no recoil, which will require an additional movement to swing the club down.
    Typically the arms have to make a lateral move or a cast so to speak. WHICH in my opinion moves away from the natural rotation of the arms. We don't think about that but as we coil and the uncoil, the proper rotation from the arms in the arm ball socket rotator cuff. AND for that matter the rotation of the legs in the hip socket.
    Easier to show than to describe as I am coming off way too technical. But for the serious golfer they need to feel the dynamics that are created by the proper coil which are essential for the uncoiling of the body for the proper impact position

      For sure! One of the keys is to not focus on golf between shots. that way you can save it for the times you are actually preparing and hitting your shots. Take a deep breath, enjoy the walk, talk to your flights partners! This way you only have to focus for a small fraction of the round versus 4 full hours!
